    I am enjoying this video. Reminds me of college Economics classes. As your skill increases, you become more valuable, then you start to increase your rates. This will thin out your current clients to those who actually value your skill, and will to pay the higher fees. You might have 500 customers that will pay you $5 dollars, but you want to get to 200 customers that will pay in excess of $100. Simple supply and demand. Your actual supply is a combination of your skill and available time. As your skill increases, your available time will diminish with more requests for work, and your prices can then increase.

    I had set up a Fiverr profile in 2021 to see if I could start building a viable voice over business on there. I hated it. I did all the things you were "supposed" to do, even took a course on using it for voice over. I almost never got contacted unless I did "pitches", many of the clients on there wanted to pay nothing for a lot of work, or were unprofessional and not good to deal with. I finally ended up deleting my account. However, I still go back and forth if I should try again. I see stories from voice actors claiming to make thousands and thousands a month only working a few hours a day, making full-time income after only 12+ months, or making six figure salaries. Then I wonder if I'm missing all these opportunities...although frankly these success stories sound too good to be true sometimes. It's hard to know how to move forward and what direction to go in this industry. You have some great ideas and insight in this video.

    • @VoiceOverAngela
      @VoiceOverAngela  5 месяцев назад +1

      I understand the fiverr struggle...I do. You have to understand and play the algorithm game. You can make a healthy income on fiverr, once you're established. And those success stories are more than likely true. I can confirm that you can make 5 to 6 figures a year from fiverr alone. I've witnessed these results.

    When you explained the rationale for accepting $5 gigs, I likened it to big retailers offering a discounted or sale or free offer to get people to try their product or service.
    And then later when the recipient of the free offer needs their type of product again, they might try the free offer company's product at full price.
    And until then, it would give the free offer company the right to send them email (Text +/or Audio +/or Video) messages keeping them interested in the free offer company's products and services.
    Great advice from you, Angela!

    So you're suggesting we post the gig for it, not reach out to those who have those gigs and offer our VO services right? I take it that's because the latter would be considered spamming them whereas the former allows them to buy our gig. You've learned so much in just a few short years, thank you for sharing what you've learned so generously, you're a true blessing for those of us who don't have any coaching sessions or paid training in our budget and need help to get started in this rapidly growing and changing field of VO. 🙏🧡✨💜

      @Michael Woods I had a few jobs make themselves present. But one I tried recording while I was quite sick with a bronchitis like illness. So I had to let the client go. The other had a very confusing project and didn’t make it clear what they wanted narrated and not so I got discouraged during my recovery. Was still working two jobs. Maybe if I had successfully done those two jobs or if I hadn’t gotten really sick in that early 2020 January. Things would have been different. But. I got more equipment and confidence and know how now so. We will see how it goes. Just it currently hurts to talk cause I got all 4 of my wisdom teeth extracted recently. Just my luck :)

    My question is, if VO is a viable career choice, why do so many artists seem to supplement it with other things like courses and youtube? Not aimed at you personally and perhaps i'm being narrow sighted here in terms of not factoring in how many VO artists exist vs how many have a youtube channel!

    • @VoiceOverAngela
      @VoiceOverAngela  9 месяцев назад +2

      I, of course, cannot speak for the others, but I was talked into creating a channel by a peer to vlog my journey and share my experience with the sites I used. The response to my channel was humbling and I was asked for more options to work with me, beyond the channel. So, I decided to help where I could. It sort of grew from there. It wasn't a strategic move, just something that grew over time. I've found that the community is so supportive and helpful and I am proud to be part of it.
