Lots of artists or athletes would give anything to perform just one time in their life like Elina in this video. She's in a total flow state, when all the work and dedication she has put into her craft materialize like it's the most natural thing.
I adore Elina Garanča. Her preforming presence is so captivating. Your charm also helps, Beth. Lightweight positive atmosphere with some vocal technique commentary you bring in complements the quality opera reacted to. This video is just great to charge with energy. 🙂
I saw this production at the Met Live In HD movie theater presentation a few years ago. Both Elina Garanca and Roberto Alagna were superb. Thanks for featuring opera for a change.

I first saw Elizabeth from TCV react to this a while ago. Inspired me to watch the whole opera. I enjoyed hearing your reactanalysis as well!!! Thank you, Beth! ..and 'Carmen' is a metal fan!!! Who knew?!?!?!
Elina Garanča ... This was WRITTEN for her. As far as I'm concerned, she made this her own. Jusr unbelievable....same as Kimi Scota singing Casta Diva.
Hermoso alucinante........ increíble reacción me encantó todo el contenido todo ..... todo al decir todo es todo tú me entiendes bien señorita Beth 👏👏🍀🍀
Elina nailed this performance of Carmen. We may not see it improved upon in our lifetimes! Beth, give the versions of Armatae face et anguibus by Cecilia Bartoli or Lea Desandre a try, just to establish how long ago maestro Vivaldi invented heavy metal! 😉😉🤘
I totally second the suggestion of Cecilia though I'd suggest Ombra Mai Fu or Stabat Mater, Voce che sapete...well actually...just about any video by Cecilia.
As you pointed rightly about long sentences, the strength she had... i would recall that a contrario to Anglo-saxons, it's in french culture to make long sentences. This opera was written by Bizet, French, typically French (unfortunately or fortunately ? ;) )... BTW, the length of the sentences doesn't seem to bother the singer here ;) One of my preferred interpretation and version of Carmen... And it was with one of the best Roberto Alagna I have seen. All the opera is a pure gem with these 2 stars ;)
Well..this is a surprise..opera! Rascally Carmen nonetheless 😂. Dare you not to cry listening to 'Un bel di vedremo' from Madama Butterfly. Happy holiday from Wisconsin! 🍻
Actually Beth, it took Bizet’s death for people to take a second look at Carmen, which eventually resulted in it becoming the most popular opera in the world. In death, Bizet achieved his life’s goal of writing a successful opera.
Fantastic video as always, informative. I stumbled across another opera singer called Magda Olivero singing at the age of 99! That’s worth a watch if you can!
Sometimes you get someone who was never meant for the role (aka Jessye Norman) to which reviewer (yours truly) wrote as a HIGHLIGHT of that performance... Casting Jessye Norman as Carmen is like casting Arnold Schwarzenegger as the Sugar Plum Fairy... At the end you prayed that you never caught mad cow disease... Trust me you don't want to know anything beyond those two sentences on what else I wrote about it in a national magazine...
This was the only opera where I panned Jessye Norman's performance... Even after this review of Carmen...her average was an 8.5/10... I even panned Pavarotti's Andrea Chenier which I called "All power...no feeling..." Pavarotti could do no wrong before that point and rarely past that point on his out of the norm repertoire... He was getting 10/10 across the boards until that time and after that averaged a 9.75 in my reviews...
I think Julia Migenes-Johnson is the best Carmen of the last 40 years. She is so seductive in the role and her tone is gorgeous. Catch the movie version of the opera with her and Placido Domingo, Ruggero Raimondi, et al. Fabulously set in Spain. ruclips.net/video/gkWxnm-UBl4/видео.html I don't think that Garanca has enough of the Spanish gypsy look.
Omg, how it possible? Not a single "Three Days Grace" song... A big, big mistake. You should make react to "i hate everything about you" live in Palace

I´m always in for some opera singing. Discovered that performance a few months ago and been blown away. I´m glad you covered it 😊
Just sublime...I've been a fan of Elīna Garanča for ages...Awesome reaction! Cheers!
My forever favourite Carmen, love Elina's tone. Thanks!

Carmen.. Bisset, I believe, I LOVE those wo songs of it: this very own you are reacting, and the intro.. awesome both ones..
I never heard Carmen, really appreciate you bringing it to me.
What a lovely tone she has. I had an ambition to learn this aria, lol, it’s err not easy

Please react to Pavarotti singing "'O sole mio". It has been a classic song in vocal lessons.

"Elina's", sorry 😊
Now I remember why I dislike opera.
How sad for you.
My god how beautiful you are, face of the goddess, eyes of the angel 🍀♥️🙏
