Co2 Laser 600x400 part1

  • PART 1
    CO2 laser with working area of 600mm by 400mm. built from start to end. This is Part 1. The inner frame. Everything is made with allu profiles and linear rails on the X and Y axis.
    This CO2 laser has been fully adapted and all 3D printed pieces have been redrawn by me, this for the adjustment to linear rail system.
    Because quite a few people have already asked if this is the model of Further Fabrication. I had already purchased the model and plans from Further Fabriction and built his model. see video link: • Video
    downloads to Further Fabrication are available for the co2 laser 600x400
    www.furtherfabrication.com/ne...
    But my model is no longer the same as his model, although you can use his building book as a model and guidance . Then you have to adjust all sizes of the allu profiles and change 3D prints, because it is not with V-wheels, but with linear rails. The outer frame is also made of three parts. one for the laser itself, one frame for electro components and one for the extension of the laser tube if necessary.
    So you have to decide for yourself what you want to do.
    I recommend downloading his guide manual as a reference and then follow my video to adjust all sizes of the profiles, before you order the profiles if you don't cut them yourself.
    the only parts such as my self-drawn 3D prints are not available at Further Fabrication.
    link for the build guide: www.furtherfabrication.com/re...
    link to my 3 parts:
    drive.google.com/file/d/1-aM0...
    PS:
    Further fabrication,
    has now done an update to linear rails, posted: 23/4/2021
    see his video.
    also the 3d printed parts.
    And better Y engine design.
    see link: • Ep10: A little Upgrade...
    if you want a better system, use this one from Further Fabrication. designed by Rob
    I hope I made this clear.
    I'm not sponsored by anyone and do everything on my own. a donation no matter how small is always welcome but not mandatory.

    Are you kidding, about your English? You speak it VERY well, plus you are very clear in your explanation of each step!! On top of that, your video is very well edited and very well lit!! Nothing like some videos that I have seen were you get dizzy watching them, and that have poor details and lighting!! I had watched many, many DIY CO2 laser builds, and yours is BY FAR, the B-E-S-T!!! God Bless You, and keep up the good work. I will be ordering parts and building my 600x400 (70-90W ) laser machine in a few months.

    First: you have a great design with many elements that I consider superior to Further Fabrication's model. I am currently wrapping up building Rob's Y-400. Rob's design has proved to be a bit difficult to square and level whereas you join a bottom and upper squared frame and your upper frame is significantly stronger looking then the Y-400 and should not suffer from any wracking. I also like the belts outside the cutting area. It shouldn't be too difficult to change your dual drive y-axis to a single drive like Rob's design. Rob really did excel in his build guide and parts list which made ordering everything easy I just wish my inner frame was stronger like yours!

    • @FilipedosSantos
      @FilipedosSantos 2 года назад

      Hello! I got Rob's design, and I'm designing Philippe's machine in Sketchup. Your comment left me in doubt if I upgrade Rob's Y axis in the project I'm doing on Philippe's machine. In your opinion, is this upgrade really important?

    • @Chadderuski
      @Chadderuski 2 года назад

      @@FilipedosSantos Hi there! Yes, use a single motor to drive the y-axis. From everything I've read so far, and from looking at a lot of diy builds and videos of commercial machine, a single drive for y-axis is preferred. Please share your design! I'd like to see how to did the upgrade.

    • @FilipedosSantos
      @FilipedosSantos 2 года назад +1

      @@Chadderuski I was thinking about doing Rob's project even after I was almost done with my Sketchup project on Philippe's machine, but your comments about Philippe's machine being stronger made me change my mind. And I'm also convinced to upgrade on the Y axis as well. The sketchup project is missing a few things, like the exhaust part at the back of the machine, limit switches and the y-axis upgrade. I followed all the steps in the videos to do everything. Send me your email and I'll send you the project for you to take a look at.

    Thank you very much for this, it answered a lot of questions I had for my design. I noticed that you are using 2 stepper motors to drive the gantry do you have any issues with the motors going out of sync and miss-aligning the gantry?

      How did you wire the two y-axis stepper motors? Did you insert the appropriate wires of each stepper motor into the 1/2/3 input ports of y-axis control of the Ruida main board? In other words, one wire of the left stepper and one wire of the right stepper into port 1 (and one of each stepper in port 2 and port 3)?
      Also, it looks like you use one limit switch for the y-axis. Is there anything you do you make sure the x-axis track is perpendicular to the y-axis after you home. In other words, what if you loose a few steps in one one of the two y-axis stepper motors?

    Thanks for the quick reply, yes I got the build plans and parts list from furtherfabrication, but his video is no longer available! so I can't follow it. That's what was confusing me. lol. Tell me are the items in the parts from FF list the same items you used in your build, motors, hardware etc, etc? I have all the 3d printed parts from Google Drive. I want to make the bed bigger by 100mm in width and length, but I'm having great difficulty finding a gt2 timing belt to fit the bed 2500mm, I'm in the Philippines and it is very hard to locate certain things here, and the shipping/delivery charges are killing the build. One last question, did you make a video of the wiring of the electrical components, I'm a British Civil Engineer and electronics is not my forte. Your build is easy to follow and very clear, so no issues there. Thanks again for your help. Dave S

      These are not wheels, but GT2 tooth pulley.
      Never had the problem, yes it can happen. eg: due to a broken belt or a piece clamped in between, etc... If it would no longer be correct, you can see this when you engrave eg. Nevertheless, you should regularly check whether the bed is still parallel and manually adjust it if necessary. This can also happen with the Y axis. This is called maintenance of the device

    hello sir , thank you for posting this video i found it quite useful , my question however is if i were to increase the size of this machine , what would be drawbacks, and for example let's say i want the machine work area to be 900x600 is it as simple as increasing the linear rails and profiles by 300 and 200 in x,y directions respectively ?

    Hello Sir, I am in the process of building a CO2 laser cutter following your video guide. However, I am facing a bit of confusion regarding the 3D models. When I open them in the software, I don't see any dimensions. Do I need to recreate the dimensions myself, or can I directly use your 3D models for printing since all the components are the same?

    Hoeveel heeft de complete bouw van deze laser gekost, heb in het verleden een CNC freesmachine gebouwd maar die werd toch een stuk duurder dan ik in eerste instantie had voorzien.

    • @PhilippeRommens
      @PhilippeRommens  Год назад

      Dit is ten eerste heel afhankelijk welke stukken je wil gebruiken, goedkoop of kwaliteit. Ook de Wattage van de Lasertube en voeding. Ook waar je de stukken koopt. Bv: is alles nu veel duurder geworden door transport en loonkost enz. Dus niet meer te vergelijken met toen ik mijn stukken kocht. Die van mij was ergens rond de €1400. maar nu ga je zeker niet meer aan deze prijs komen. vb controller kost nu rond de €380 en ik had deze voor € 220 in den tijde. dus succes

    Hi, this is very interesting thank you. I am drawing a design in Fusion 360 following the video and using the dimensions of your 3D parts. I have a problem with the Z-Axis tensioners, the tensioner pulleys appear to be about 10mm lower than the leadscrew pulleys. The leadscrew pulleys are already sitting on top of the pillow block pulley bearings so there is no downward adjustment possible. In the video everything appears to align correctly. Any ideas appreciated. Thank you.

      everything depends on the type of pulley you use, for example you can use a 6mm belt or a 9mm. I had no problem with installation, I just don't remember whether I used a 6 or 9 belt

    Hello, I paid and downloaded your parts list and build plans. The sizes in the parts list of the aluminum extrusion needed for the inner frame do not match the sizes of the aluminum extrusion in this video, Please help. For example at the start of this video (0.26 seconds) the on-screen list shows: 2 x 2020 length of 700mm and 2 x 2020 length of 650mm, in your xlms parts list file, the sizes are different! am I missing something? which list should I follow to get a 400x600 working bed?

    • @PhilippeRommens
      @PhilippeRommens  3 месяца назад

      Hello sir, did you happen to buy the frame and building plans from furtherfabrication? If yes, then you should follow his videos as well. On my video you can see all the sizes I use and the 3D prints are also made by me, for my model. link to my 3 parts:
      drive.google.com/file/d/1-aM0NhMfkDFz0nBsl0M0ORXafE1nr4xH/view?usp=sharing
      If you follow my video you will see all the exact sizes in the video that I use for each part. So the best thing you do then is watch the video and write down everything I use first and make or order these pieces to that size

      @@PhilippeRommens Thanks for the quick reply, yes I got the build plans and parts list from furtherfabrication, but his video is no longer available! so I can't follow it. Dave S
