Growing Conditions & Climate:
Almost all orchids grown indoors
Eastern Exposures (4-5 hours direct early morning sun) & LED Grow Lights
- Most orchids grow under the lights
- Only cool growers & orchids in bloom grow under my Eastern facing windows
- Grow space doesn’t get any additional sunlight other than the LED’s

Im from Toronto in Ontario Canada.Thanks for that video❤ We have our yearly orchid show every February in our botanical garden. We have a lot of vendors and we are just crazy about orchids and all annuals and perennials as we have only a very short planting time as we are north of you. But we gardeners manage to learn how to pick the good dependable perennials for our gardens and of course houseplants like orchids and hoyas that can live longer in our house when we discover how to look after them and keep them healthy in our care. My fave mannequin is the one with the backpack, jogging pants and headphone made of orchids❤❤❤❤❤❤

Thank you! What a beautiful show. I went to an orchid show near me this afternoon that was about the size of one of those displays. Lol. I bought a phal and a catt. I was sorely tempted by a paph, but haven't had luck with them before. I'll get my bunch of babies from Carmela's to bloom (soon I hope!) and enjoy the big, fat, blooming size plants I bought today.
Doesn't hurt to try a paph! You can do it! You also will get your Carmela babies to bloom too :))

I was supposed to go to this show but something came up and I couldn't. Thank you for getting it on film so that I didn't miss it. I live in Jersey not far from NYC. I guess I will have to wait till next year. I would have loved to have been there to smell all the different scented orchids. I am a sucker for scented orchids. I have a few of my own that I saw in this show. Like the sharry baby which is right near me and makes me want chocolate all the time lol Again, thank you for taking the time to film this for us.
The show runs through April. Definitely worth checking it out :))

I love the look of cymbidium flowers! I haven't looked into their care yet, but since I just expanded from phal hybrids, I don't think I'm ready to tackle them.
Me too! I like the way they look. They need cool night temps so I can't grow them in my apartment unfortunately. You have to get them down to 50 degrees at night in the fall. There's no way I can do it.
Thank you so much for taking us along. I went there exactly 20 years ago, under 2 feet of snow😱. And, although my visit left me speechless, it looks to me like this show is even way more spectacular. Love, love, love the mannequins so much that I can’t choose one 😍

I recently went to a orchid society show at Hershey Gardens, which was beautiful, and I make a yearly pilgrimage to Longwood Gardens orchid show, I haven't been to NYBG, but it is on my orchid bucket list for next winter. Loved the video Nicole! I just purchased 2 Cymbidiums online. They haven't arrived yet, but I'm already terrified of them. lol
I'm so glad you enjoyed the video! Let me know how it goes with the Cymbidiums. They need cooler temps than I can give them, but if you have a garage or a cool area you can definitely make it work. You got this!

The Oncidium with the cacao smell is excellent. They should pair that with the Vanilla orchids and let them mass over an ice cream truck. What's the name of the fresh linen orchids?
I didn't catch the name of that linen one! It was some sort of dendrobium hybrid. The cacao one is the Sharry Baby :)

@@NicoleDeanna a couple of them are Attainable Green and then Anna’s orchids. I wasn’t subscribed to them but they came up on my feed so I looked over some videos and started noticing they all seem to be posting often and then, everything just stops after they mention they are going to orchid shows or shops in California. I’m glad you’re not near California, I love your videos.
