    I always love it when you post a video on your grow space. I get great ideas from the way you set it up. 😀
    Alternatively instead of a desk, you have room for another shelf to spread out the plants a little more and an easy chair to just sink down and enjoy your grow room. Looks like your kitty enjoys the rug 😀

    Everything looks so beautiful. Just bought 2 mini vandas for the first time to try my luck. In case you didn't know, Jade plants are toxic to dogs and cats so definitely keep it out of Zoe's reach. I don't think it's toxic enough to kill, but they cause digestion issues and slow heart rate.

    Hi Nicole, your space is great and your orchids are beautiful!
    Could you do a video on living with a cat that eats orchids? What she goes after vs what she leaves alone. Possibly hanging planters? Mine will only eat certain leaf types, similarly to yours. I only have a few orchids right now so it's not a big problem keeping the vulnerable ones out of her reach, but I'm looking to get more and sometimes buying online it's hard to tell with the leaves how thick or tough they are. I'd like to primarily get ones that she will leave alone.
    Thank you for your videos!

    • @NicoleDeanna
      @NicoleDeanna  8 месяцев назад +1

      Thank you so much! I will think about this. Man it's tough. She went from eating just thin leafed orchids like oncidiums to now cattleyas and I don't know what to do other than to get cat grass to keep her distracted. She's damaged so many things. My friend has a ton of plants too and what she does is she keeps her windowsills crowded with plants so her cats can't jump up there. I noticed she doesn't eat phals or anything very thick, but the cattleya thing is new so I'm baffled. She's something lol.

    Great collection, Nicole! Your Hoyas look fantastic! I wish I could keep as many as you have (of everything!) but my space is very limited. I also had some leaves that were wrinkling quite badly and I couldn't get them hydrated even when I soaked them for 24 hours. I gave up one day and just let them sit in the water day after day and it looked better every day! It took about 72 hours to hydrate but it DID hydrate! Thanks for the tour!

    • @NicoleDeanna
      @NicoleDeanna  11 месяцев назад

      Thank you for watching Eileen! Thanks for the tip on the wrinkling! I get the sense it's dehydration as well, may soak it too too see if there's improvement :))

    Hi Nicole, your grow space looks great. I am one that does not like misting. Even when I have many fans on…they tend to get black rot or my crowns and stem die. Glad you do ok with misting. I do water around the orchid and only water the medium and flush under my sink maybe every three Month lol. I should be flushing more often though and need to figure that out. 😅😊 Hope you had a great Thanksgiving with loved ones and family. 🌞🌸🦃🍽🍮🥰

    Oh cool! How did you get the grow lights to stop flickering on the camera?
    Your grow space looks amazing and well organized. I'd love a dedicated room for my orchids.
    Also, how type of care does your Memory Liodoro like? I have mine in sphagnum moss because I forget to water. The leaves are constantly wrinkled/dry out when I water it on the schedule of my other phals.

    • @NicoleDeanna
      @NicoleDeanna  11 месяцев назад

      My new phone has a better camera so it doesn't flicker anymore for sweet memory try to not let it dry out so long. I'd say that that one needs to be watered as it approaches dryness, but when it's dry. Thanks for watching :)

    Nicole, have you ever tried to grow Masdevallias? I recently found out that they're one of the best orchids to have in cool growing conditions and I'm thinking it might do well in CT.
    How high do you have the temperature during the orchid room during winter? Mine are on a windowsill that doesn't get above 70F right now.

    • @NicoleDeanna
      @NicoleDeanna  11 месяцев назад +1

      I haven't grown masdevalias because in the summer it gets too warm for them. In the winter the high is about 75- 80 with the grow lights going. Thanks for watching!

    @debracancelliere4081 11 месяцев назад

    Than you for the tour! I have a similar setup on top with grow lights in desk lamps for all of my too tall high light orchids.
    I was hoping to hear info about your Den Loddigesii. This will be the first winter with mine and I keep it in my greenhouse cabinet. How do you give yours a cool winter rest? Do you still maintain the same lighting? I’ve never had a plant that requires dormancy before. I live in CT - zone 6b - with dry winters similar to yours. Thanks!

    • @NicoleDeanna
      @NicoleDeanna  11 месяцев назад +2

      You can see that one with my vandas at 8:43. The best way I do it is to put it in my fire escape, but I have to bring it in before the first frost. Most important thing to do is to not fertilize it if it can't get outside.

    • @NicoleDeanna
      @NicoleDeanna  11 месяцев назад +1

      I also do keep the same lighting, when it's outside it's on an easy orientation but it can't be out long bc of the frost.

    So what made you stop using humidifiers? Just curious. Thanks for sharing!

    • @NicoleDeanna
      @NicoleDeanna  2 месяца назад

      I think it was because cleaning them so often was time consuming. I will use them in the winter if it's really really dry, but the humidity here in the summer is quite high so it's not so bad. I think usuing them is better for the collection though.

    • @NicoleDeanna

    • @NicoleDeanna

      I try to mist them daily but I somtimes forget. I do it both in summer and winter. In winter it's warm and dry in my apartment so it doesn't affect the plants negatively. Sorry for the delay!

    • @NicoleDeanna

      Depends on the season, winter 75-80 degree high, 68 degree low, humidity ranges between 20% in the winter to 80% in the summer, it's a big range lol. In the summer the temps are 90-95 in the grow space.
