Definitely! The American Express Hawaiian loophole definitely flooded the system with a lot of Alaska Airline Miles though haha But for last minute bookers like me, the Alaska Airline partner economy is a good solid redemption since i wont be booking a year out.
Hi Amii, do you mean you cannot find any saver fare business class? If so, that means unfortunately for those dates they are already booked up. Have you tried looking further out in different months? When i was searching for Starlux 75K business saver rewards, they were 10 to 11 months out that I found them.
Been looking at Starlux redemptions and I've only found 250k redemptions for business class. Seems super outrageous, not sure where all these 85k rewards are at.
Hey Scott, you're totally right. I just scanned SFO TPE, and LAX TPE, even furthest away months are showing no saver awards :( That's not good. It could be that a lot of people booked up the saver after American Express -> Alaska Airline backdoor opened up. OR the bad news is, Alaska is preparing for their new program and 175K could be the new normal :( I'm still seeing Premium Partner Economy awards for 50K so those could be an option if you have fixed dates.
@thetravelpointsdad Yeah premium economy for the 65k isn't bad, but it's not ideal. Looks like the non-Starlux redemptions are more forgivable for Alaska now, but I'd much rather try Starlux!
I have a bunch of amex points. Alaska airlinese isn't a transfer partner for MR points. Would this still be possible to do if I transfered to partners?

What are your top recommendations for booking lax to tpe with amex points for around mid march. I looked via alaska for starlux as shown here but unfortunately no availability. Are we doomed?
Hey Robert, for mid March, Starlux Saver Business class will be all booked up unfortunately :( BUT, Delta is having a Award Sale right now for the next 3 days, ends Oct 10. www.delta.com/us/en/flight-deals/skymiles-award-deals, Economy Round trip with Delta miles for just 30,000 a person! it's a GREAT deal if you have flexibility.
Hey Vy, definitely. You can book the award ticket for another passenger and enter their Alaska Airline Miles account too. Note, if you do cancel an award ticket for them later, there are specific fees that are non-refundable. From their FAQ, " The call center booking fee, and the partner award fee are nonrefundable."

You can now transfer MR> Hawaiian miles> Alaska miles due to the recent Hawaiian Airlines/Alaska airlines merger.
