  • After a year of trying we finally found a home we can both grow old in together. It's still surreal to us... we are so blessed. 1 and a quarter acres of land (181' x 300') 3 bedroom 2 bath makes for plenty of space for us to grow! This is just a quick tour, I'm sure you'll see more of it in the future all set up. We've been here for about a week now but this tour was filmed just shortly after Closing on the property, so it was empty at the time of filming.
I hope you didn't mind me sharing this little video with you, I only want to include you more in whats going on with me
How about that new Studio space!!!?!?! Dedicating it to video making for this channel! Thanks for your time I appreciate you as always, see ya next time!

You are going to be so happy in this house. Having the property is wonderful as well! So much potential for a garden, if you want one or lots of plants. The fire pit is the bomb, you will love that in the evenings. I'm with everyone else who is advising NOT to get rid of the closets. Live with them for at least a year before you do any demo. Congratulations and I know you will have a ball getting your studio all set up!

Congratulations, your home is nice and roomy, very bright, no closet is not necessary, you should know how much space is needed for polymer clay supplies, don't start knocking out walls without consulting with your wife! I wish you a lifetime of happiness in that home!

Thanks! And it turns out we don't have a utility closet in this house so we'll use that one for broom, mop, vacuum etc lol

I am so happy for you I can't even begin to tell you!. Now if you don't mind a few ideas - leave the closets in the master bedroom alone. They're "his" and "hers" and the biggest one is your wife's, lol. Trust me, a woman needs a big closet to be happy. And you'll need a place to put your stuff too - unless you want to use the closet in the guest bedroom for your stuff. On the studio, you might want to replace the carpet with tile. I found the cheapest and best looking and easiest to install is the Italian vinyl tile you can find at Lowe's (and Home Depot I guess), it's a bit over 80 cents per square foot, self-adhesive and so easy to install that even a disabled woman like me was able to handle that. If you don't replace that carpet, you'll be stuck with the room looking dingy because there will be things in that carpet that you won't be able to take out, especially polymer clay and paint. While with that vinyl tile, if one tile gets messed up, you can easily replace just that one. They come in beautiful slate and marble imitations that are even 3D with all the "natural" ridges and whatnots. Now please go rest, and then make us another video when you have the studio all set up. I can't wait to see all the beautiful things you will create in your new studio!

We're both very happy too and it still feels surreal at times! As for the flooring I appreciate the advise but I'd like to share with you my reasoning why it's staying for a while:
Do you remember when watching this video how the Audio sounded while walking throughout the house? It was echoing everywhere but once I went into those 2 rooms it stopped almost entirely. Carpet absorbs more then just grime and dirt, it also absorbs echoes! LOL! Also, another thing too is this: if I remove the carpet and replaced it with (???????) that would cost (something) and the carpet itself would essentially get destroyed in the process (ripped out and thrown away) but if I instead keep it we pay nothing and it's already done! :D Most of the filming done in that room will be directed towards work surfaces and walls, so unless I'm filming my cats running through there you'll most likely never see that carpet again really.
So... if I "try" not to be so messy I should get a lot of use out of that ol' rug for now. [oww I just got a brainstorm!] I could also just remove a "part" of the carpet directly where my work area is... hmmm.. (I just thought of that while typing this lol) also, I noticed at Walmart they sell a foam that looks like it holds eggs, know what I mean? and it comes in white!! It's not toooo expensive and I was considering applying a full piece of it to the ceiling for even more sound absorption.
Why do this you may ask, or what does it matter? I don't like echoing sound in my videos (just a personal preference) and it would also be closer to simulating the quality of a real Sound Studio. In the event I ever wanted to sing or beatbox it would sound very clean, but at the very least most of my video's will be recorded in that room so it'll be better. Carpet doesn't have to be on the floor either, it could be on a wall or the ceiling too.. so long as I have that sound absorption it matters not really lol.. Hope you didn't mind me rambling on about all this! lol I'll definitely show the final results when it's done. Thanks again!

You can always buy a rubber mat for under the polymer clay working table - they're a bit pricey though, I'm looking for one as I can't replace the carpet with the vinyl tiles in my work room due to the way the floor is. I'm thinking to just get some tarp - unlike you, with my messed-up hands, I drop a lot of stuff so it gets rather messy/ As for the sound, yes, it would echo in an empty roomm and especially a bigger one - I think it wasn't just the carpet but also the fact that those rooms are smaller. Once the room has stuff in it, it's less echo. I have that "foam" you're talking about (they're big tiles for ceiling in offices and bussinesses) by accident - ceiling had to be replaced after an idiot went in the attic and stepped between the beams, and it collapsed. They're very easy to apply. A great solution is the polystyrene foam sheeting but not sure where you can get that cheap. Anyway, I can't wait to see what you'll be sculpting next.

I forgot to say, beautiful piece of land. I can't do gardening anymore for health reasons, but I used to have a gorgeous cottage garden. If you want to get stuff for around the house, look at directgardening dot com. they sell dormant plants for very cheap. Don't be put off by the negative reviews, they're from people who have no idea what "dormant plant" is and they get all outraged when they expect nursery type plants and then get "dry sticks" in the mail lol. I have tons of plants from them, including bushes and trees, both decorative and fruiting, that are hardy, roses and lots of perennials that are still all over the property doing great even if I can't baby them anymore.

It's a his and hers closet set up!! Hers is the big one and his is the small one. :P For me it would be the other way around though. I would keep the small closet and turn the big one into my craft area. *laughs* I wouldn't try to demo the small closet though. Seriously. Turn it into a library with some shelves or some other kind of storage.
You have the same weird green carpet my house has! :) Mine had carpeted bathrooms though. Ugh they were awful so I pulled up the carpet to put down linoleum. What year is that home? If it doesn't have a gutter system by the way put one in right away! Don't make the same horrible mistake I made by putting it off for years. I have to replace some of the exterior panels on the home as a result. *sigh*
