Thank you for these straight forward videos. I used them as a tutorial for when I installed a Merchant Auto pump rub kit in my transfer case. Very well recorded and explained. One thing I did was I got a dog tag embossed with: Merchant Auto pump rub kit installed, the miles and date. I JB welded it to the hub flat on the outside of the case so others would know it’s been done and when. There’s really no other way to know. I bought the tag from Amazon. The vendor embossed it. 7.50 shipped. Worth it I think.
15:20 in when u take the cog gear out it's a one piece and pulls from the top. I have to pull the shift fork out then shaft flip it over then remove snap ring, syncronizer, then cog gear and it's a one piece but bigger that fit around the bigger part of the shaft
Ya I got 2 cases 241C . NP.. I just set that case aside.few days ago I go back open it up.tje pull and pay have a few transphere cases parts on the list chain plantary.fork.thr rest of parts not on list . Ya walk out the door with them
Ya...that snap ring.. I need to go back to my salvage yard remove the snap ring upon I set that 231 transphere case a side....I should go back take it apart in the yard....check chain and other parts ....far as conditions of parts. Before it goes in as recycle metal
Some.of that should apply to my 231 NP...we will watch ..I been busy as a pac of firecrackers...got another 1995 4x4 Transmission... actually doing shims on both planatarys...adjusting Endplay upon each plantary gear sets...which isn't mentioned a whole lot in transmissionbench Video instructions....Indiana has been high temperature but I managed to pull another 1995 Transmission in the heat of the day.. 15 more days that 95 only 95 on yard goes forward to recycle metal...many parts go forward about the same as that Holocaust
In fact I just take a 5 gallon bucket and my transmission tools pics and ECT..I fill that bucket full of good condition 231c NP which I just set aside... Let the women try to price...I know I walk out the door with a few parts free because they can't identify the one lady she lets alot Slide..
Which saver kit did you go with? I have that exact transfer case with the ground down splines where that bearing sits. With a 263HD merchant auto kit and bearing kit I can't get the bearing to sit far enough on the shaft to hit the snap ring inside the case half. My old bearing for whatever reason had a much larger groove and had 2 snap rings welded together.
Do a stack up outside the case half and make sure the assembly is correct. Also make sure all the parts you got are dimensionally the same as what you took out so they fit correctly. Other than that, since I can't see it in person, that's the best advise I can give you. Hope it helps...

I like that certain lady at the salvage yard...if she is unsure upon the parts price list she just says no charge
