What the brands show is nearly impossible to achieve with regular usage. They might use the lowest brightness & run almost nothing to achieve that number. Which is not practical as none of us in real life do this.
turning off background apps does help. i dont reccomend disabling the apps especially windows defaults. one other thing i found helpful is turning down your graphics settings through the nvidia 3D apps. It does make the battery last longer

You forgot one thing that is if you change the power plan to *power saver* or *balanced* battery will last even longer
