barometric pressure does not effect the pressure in your tap it affects the pressure in you tank ! you tap water pressure is generally governed by the water companys pumping station
Hey, you did a marvellous job in explaining how to breed Otos and in how you filmed them, so thank you very much for that. As for imitating a big rainfall or beginning of the rainy season I can second your opinion in how important that is for animals. I was recently wondering why my shrimps kept jumping out of my tank until I found out that their behaviour was triggered by the spraybar of my filter outlet which I had installed. It obviously made the shrimp think that it has started to rain. What ever exact reason for jumping out was I do not know. But never did they jump out in such numbers without the spraybar in action. So thanks again for hinting to the importance of rainfall/the start of the rainy season for different behaviour of many animals. Thank you very much fir sharing your knowledge and pls keep on shining 🎉and giving voice to the unheard.
Great video! Thank you so much for sharing. I just realized the issues with them and I want to do my part to join in and try to reproduce them in a responsible way. I want to see them in the hobby forever
After a year my Otos finally had babies! All of a sudden some started to get really bloated, at first I thought that they might have gotten sick, after about a week after that I saw a very tiny otocinclus (I believe it was under a week old) it was really tiny, but am afraid that maybe he got eaten because I have a pair of Apistograma and a couple of zebra danios, if they somehow survive I'll be super happy! 😁
Excellant info! 1 thing I would try is to watch the weather report, if rain is in the forecast, the change in barometric pressure in conjunction with the water change is also very effect9ve🙂thank you so much👍
Great video! And I was wondering if living world fresh ‘N Comfy is okay for gerbils? Because ever since I changed the bedding to to that I don’t think my gerbil has been burrowing and she’s just been on her wheel.
I know this isn’t a gerbil video but could you please show us how you sectioned off your cage and what sand you use? I want to be able to provide enough bedding and a wheel but they keep kicking the bedding everywhere
I talked about it in my frequently asked questions video! :) as for the divider I talk about it quite a few times in any of my gerbil enclosure tours as well as the gerbil behavior video
Rain water around the world is now acidic with a ph between 5 and 6. Most rivers around the world's are acidic also. The waters of the Amazon Basin run 3 to 5.
My corys and bristlenoses are spawning constantly. I only got otos today (starting with 2 as they are so exepnsive and I didn’t want to get 6 of them just for my angels to eat them, if they are still alive in a couple weeks I’ll get another 4). Anyway if my corys are spawning up to 3 times a week and my bristlenoses always have eggs does that mean my otos are likely to spawn?
I have wanted to test if Corydora hormones that are released during spawning season, could affect fish like Otocinclus, but I can’t confirm it. We don’t have concrete evidence that their seasons affect each other
@@finsandwhiskers I doubt I would be able to tell anything from if my otos and corys end up spawning at the same time because the corys spawn every second or third day as it is with each female producing over 100 eggs a spawn. They are honestly kinda annoying with how much they spawn. The angelsfish love it though.
I finally got my otocinclus! But mine looks very skinny and some of them have their tail damaged hopefully they'll recover I got 15 of them I am very happy to finally have them. 😃
@@shackleDev Wow this was a year ago and actually all of them recovered! I lost a few during this year for different reasons but none die for any type of illness fortunately, thanks for the advice anyways, maybe I'll try that if I ever get new ones. 👍
Maybe a big DIY spray bar could work to simulate rainfall? Then you wouldn't have to walk back and forth along the tank a bunch when filling the water back up? Also it would be interesting to know if a big water change when there has been no change in the barometric pressure would still trigger spawning.
I have tried and I didn’t have any results, however if you have had success recently with getting the trigger, I have noticed you don’t need to wait for rain again. They will be in the season of breeding for a bit
Lol first!! Pls pin, ily!
Okie
@@finsandwhiskers Omg thank you!!!!!

very lovely setup. Thanks for sharing and keeping post videos
hard water bad for ottos ? and high ph?
I love your dedicaction! Live cultures of brine shrimp, daphnia AND copepods? I salute you miss.
That's a great discovery. Thanks for the video. (I don't have catfish, so I can't test this).
Thanks for watching even if you don’t have them! I hope this information can change their fate in the hobby!

might take time to get used to. I would also add softer additions for their nesting
Fins & Whiskers ok thanks you!
Thank you for all your hard work! Holy cheese!
Thank you!!
i think you are simply the best! your videos are always very informative Thank you!!!

I am hoping they recover too!!
With damaged tails it might help to quarentine them in methaline blue for a week, or putting them in a tannin rich tank
