My mother was a farm girl (I'm a Londoner) and she told me that there was one animal that was the most dangerous on a far...a cow with a calf, they will take on a bull. That motherly protective spirit is so powerful, hey
Shut up
Daddy did such an amazing job at deescalating and passifying momma. Don't worry king you'll meet baby soon.
Very true! Nothing more dangerous in the world than a female of the species protecting their young. There is no such thing as fighting fair, or good sportsmanship. It's "one of us ain't coming out of this alive", lol.
I saw a doberman in London giving birth to 9 , and the father was outside the basket/space like this one : anyway , as each one was born , the mum would give it a few licks etc , then lift it up in her mouth to show the dad , who would sort of shiver and show his happiness. One of the loveliest things I ever was privileged to see .

That's human emotion you're projecting upon an animal not capable of such. They use eye deflection to indicate non threat. She did what she did, then deescalated the situation. Licking lips, no eye contact. Hope that explains a little
@@darenward5256animals are capable of having some of the same emotions we have.

I love how dogs start sniffin around every time they're trying to play something off
It's funny when humans do it too😂
Yeah, it's a behavior they use to relieve stress or tension. Sniffing calms them down and gives both sides of the "argument" a moment.
Dogs will also do this during play to relieve the tension from excitement, so that the play doesn't escalate to an actual fight.
that is the equivalent to whistling in a human :)
they're versions of looking at the weather app
Yo cats do that too. My little buddy is 4 years old now and were very close. He has a sister thats 2 now and undersized. He picks on her sometimes and i stop him and he just goes and acts embarrassed like he’s checking something else out to act natural.

Glad to see most people in the comments being smart. This isn't agression, this is instinctual protection. Male dogs can harm a pup, sometimes intentionally sometimes not. Momma dogs know that it's best to keep dad away until the pup is less vulnerable.
Great dog momma right here.
This is the comment is was happiest to see!!❤
"Male lions do kill cubs when they take over a pride, but it is not as prevalent as some would have us think. Females already pregnant when the new males come in can easily “disguise” their cubs as belonging to the new males, and even females with newly born cubs can hide them, mate with the new males, and bring their cubs out later. Females are clever, and males subsequently end up with offspring not theirs."

Considering how protective dog moms are around other dogs, it's pretty amazing that they tend to trust us humans with their pups.
They must see us a wimps who aren't a threat and just do all the caregiver stuff like fix their bed, give them food and water and of the course the poop and scoop.
Some dogs will also do this with humans, and trust maybe 1-2 with their babies. I know my Daddy dog did. She growled as soon as I came in to see them. My Daddy brought me one in another room and put the puppy in my lap. Before I even grabbed them here she come snatching the puppy back 😂 She only acted crazy when they were first born, once they started moving around and stop screaming so much, she didn’t mind who came to pick them up.

Animals have more love and protection for their children than humans do at times.
Where’d you say you wanted me to put these boxes ? 😂😂
I've had this happen before. Daddy dog really wanted to see his babies. He would lay outside the door (that's the closest she'd let him get) and just stare at them, his tail going crazy. Once she let him near he would slowly crawl up to the babies, gently sniffing them, trying to contain his butt wiggles. I've never seen a male dog want to be so involved with the pups. Once they were older momma dog would leave him alone with them to rest, he would happily lay down and let them climb all over him. Chewing on his ears and pulling his long fur. He loved it, he never hurt a single baby and was always so gentle.
Sweetest boy ever. ❤
Do males usually hurt babies or something & I take it this is natural for mom dogs to be this protective? Does she not understand he is the dad or she don't care lol? Sad there is only 1 pup.
@@Mandy_39 I think that's why she's so aggressive. Only has 1.
@@Mandy_39 it's not at all common, but in SOME cases if the father doesn't recognize the pups as his own and isn't properly socialized around puppies, they can attack them. Worked with dogs for years myself, and can vouch that 99% of dog dads are very caring
@@keelanmurphy9941 it’s also a thing with domesticated dogs, for whatever reason the female takes care of the dog more then the male dog. In the wild, male coyotes and wolves both play an important roll in raising their young. Just domesticated ones that are bums.
@@Mandy_39 they will eat them
There is a period where the mom won’t let anyone near them and will attack anything within range of her babies, including the father. From the perspective of protecting them from danger and disease in their most vulnerable months, I get it.

I love how he keeps peaking over when she's not looking. Poor guy just wants to see his baby.
The reason mom wont let him is because males can kill the pupps, females wouldn't access the fathers as threats naturally...unless they are likely to be.
Unfortunately, clearly the males set themselves up for this treatment.
Yeah lol, but it's for the best. So they don't get sick, him hurting them ect. But also it's best for him to wait until their eyes are open, they won't have a bond with him since he's not mom.
