  • It’s good to practice multiple shots because that’s the most likely scenario for us to be in. However, with the price of ammo these days, we have to practice prudently!

    I really apprecaite these drills and have used them myself at the range. Your ability to demystify it and break it down into simple, idiot-proof tasks is very helpful.

    Pat is a super humble dude. Says "this is my impossible to miss pace". Then he misses. I love that he then analyzes and says well I should know which one it was but I don't. The clear self analysis is very refreshing, because it helps the student to do the same.

    The metronome idea is the secret. To play fast scales on the guitar you must first play slowly with discipline. Then when the speed comes naturally the discipline will remain.

      @Bill Kilgore Incorrect. Usain Bolt is a great sprinter because he learned to take each and every step no faster than he could perfectly make them, using the most efficient stride possible and not rushing through even the tiniest and seemingly most insignificant motion. Then he learned to take each of those steps a little faster every time while maintaining that perfect form, until he could perfectly execute 10,000 absolutely perfect steps faster than anyone else could. He is not a great sprinter because he laced on track flats and tore off as fast as he could down the track.

      @@brimstone33And keep in mind that no matter how fast you are, you can still be taken out by a single lucky shot.

    I agree with all the comments - Just really value your teaching style and the information you are 'sending down range' if I can use that phrase! Great stuff. Wish I had a place nearby to do that kind of shooting versus the poorly lighted gun range - no holster draws, no rapid fire etc....yuch

    Great video! I like the reference to the metronome and playing instruments. I’m a drummer, so I do lots of my drills to a certain tempo. I’ve also found as a drummer, it’s easier for me to feel the reset of the trigger because my fingers are sensitive to the rebound of the drumstick.

    Mag dumps occur because the minimum fire arm training as it is related to law enforcement. Crowd fire is has a similar origin. Under stress, people default to the operational mode that is imprinted twice a year on the range. "Make ready, fire- everybody fires. NO decision making.

    Great information. Also, for anyone that has not done it, explaining things as you are attempting to shoot is difficult because you are not fully plugged in to the gun. It's hard to talk and shoot at the same time unless you are shooting at a speed your processor can keep up with both.

    I’m not questioning Pat Mac. That would just be stupid. I just don’t know about the “don’t jerk the trigger” thing. Whenever I work on faster follow up shots, it just seems natural to “jerk the trigger”. I like Rob Leatham’s philosophy on the subject. That if you are shooting fast, you’re GONNA jerk the trigger. Just learn to jerk the trigger without moving your gun.

      His classes are posted on his website, but he does so few of them that they sell out quickly, and all of his 2022 classes are sold out. He does not announce his schedule to the public, but he does announce them to his private coaching group members (aka "the Squad") so they have first dibs. The remaining slots get picked up by those who happen to visit his site once he posts new classes for an upcoming year.

    I've recently watched some other folks' videos where they also discuss 'shot placement' is the key, 'multiple rounds on target', and the 'cost of ammo'. It lead to pistols that shoot 22LR, either just for practice or, a viable self/home defense tool. The 22LR ammo is comparatively really cheap, and with very little kick if they say anyone should be able to be much more accurate for multiple shots on target. There is also a Glock 44 that shoots 22LR but is very similar to a Glock 19. Supposedly, statistically, the 22LR is statistically just as good a deterrent, especially in multiple shots?

    • @wingman8447
      @wingman8447 2 года назад +1

      Anything is better than nothing but small calibers like .22 .25 and .32 are not recommended. Using a firearm is a lethally violent projection of power, not a deterrent. Weapons are not the place to save money. There are some well made and reasonably priced 9mm and .38 specials out there. Buy ammo in bulk or reload to save some money. Then practice and watch Pat Mac.
