12:15 I Love how you mention StarFox 2 with the box, saying that if it's unopened it would be much pricer, while in fact, StarFox 2 never came out officialy back in the day, what they are selling here is just a bootleg/cartmod, they sell for 60-100 bucks on ebay depending on box/manual quality ;)

I don't really know what they are going for, but I own 2 of them and still have all my games, overlays and boxes.
I honestly don't think that's too much money. They are 40 yrs old, have a built in vector monitor and the best controller of that era. I've paid more than that on single comic books. The Vectrex is awesome.

I got an amazing deal a month ago with a nearly mint condition Vectrex, in its original box for $700, and then got 20 OG overlays for about $40, and a vecmulti cart, all for about $900 total. I thought it was a steal, because $700 Vectrex’s are out there commonly but usually in rough shape. $1200 seems kinda high but for a good quality one, I think that’s the market now

18:06 The Samsung Slimfit was Samsung's last desperate bid to keep their CRT manufacturing plants relevant in 2007 during the shifting LCD market as consumers were most impressed with the slim form factor of LCD tech. I once read a white paper that Samsung had to create 3 separate patents for the deflection yoke assembly to make it that slim.

Holy crap! That GameCube games haul you had in 2020 haha. TTYD, Colosseum, Melee, Sunshine, Sonic Adventure DX, Double Dash, Animal Crossing... some great games + expensive ones there nowadays.
My grandma has a 32" native 480p/1080i Philips HD CRT kinda similar to that SD one there. I picked it up for the cousins to play Wii/GC in the basement lol. It has the top control also. It's a 32PT830H from '03 I believe(that one was a later-year Magnavox), and it doesn't convert/upscale to 1080i automatically or rasterize the 480p signal in a 540p frame like the Sony HD sets do and most all JVC HD sets. Panasonic, some Philips, some Toshiba, some Samsung, and the Hitachi HD ones do that native progressive 480 👍
That Sony FS at 26:45 was a FS100 👌 You can tell the difference on the larger FS100/120/170 because of where the lettering or words are on the chassis. I don't have one, just something I've noticed.
I liked seeing those old JVC's and that Panasonic, good stuff 😄

Some nice CRTs, not that I dislike Composite but was hoping more of the consoles would use S-Video or Component. But then again I live in NA and so many TV manufacturers weren't very ambitious with the AV ports here lol.
24:20 That is a harsh assessment of a whole generation of gaming, I think every older generation of gaming will go through this apathy even the NES which is next in line for being considered dated ijs. ;)
I agree about what you said about awareness for CRTs and CRT repair since it's become a divisive topic for some gamers that I think can only be remedied with knowledge instead of misinformation. :)

I have a Sony pvm2950qm several phillips 14 inch, 29 inch sony 20inch thomson 14 inch sharp 14 inches in germany we were lucky that the tvs were already equipped with scart. so all rgb suitable but over the years they would all have to be reset :( The consoles from mit are all modded to 60hz and rgb (if it didn't come with 60hz and rgb) unfortunately nobody does it here and your videos are great but not enough to fix mine for sure. It would really be a dream to have someone here who knows about it.

@Retro Tech You need to pick up a Hitachi 32 or 36 UDX10S if you get a chance! Great, interesting TV's. 2001 early-HD sets, also built differently than most sets I've opened up. They are curved as opposed to flat(so usually better linearity), but they are also 4:3 HD. And they do native 480p/1080i, good for 6th gen consoles & up. Plus they properly line double 240p signals with little to no lag instead of converting to 480i and upscaling to 1080. Also, the 32" I got only weighs 113lbs which is pretty light for a 32(curved or flat). I picked one up some weeks ago and need to fix convergence up a little still. They can also be sensitive to magnetism/purity issues I've read & researched, luckily I've had none really with mine. But it's great otherwise! Here's a little imgur album I just put together on mine: imgur.io/a/4y5TlUL

The CDI now all these yrs later are rubbish. They just skip Like mad now when u try play a game..they were poorly made..I paid almost a thousand pounds for mine when it released as I wanted 7th guest badly..the best game in the end was burn cycle. I bought the CDI , a plug in (the back) full motion cartridge ,to play the fmv content , without most games wouldn't play.

Yes, all bland 21"+ beasts with tons of silver paint (yikes!) on composite. I did not see anything I would trade for even my most common one, that I also happened to get as free pickup, a Sony KV-M1450D. And that is the simplest workhorse I own. There were so many gorgeous Sony/Philips sets in the 80's/90's in Europe, but also B&O, Loewe, Grundig made stuff that is really nice looking and well made. The current top spot is a Philips V6620. That TV is the most astonishing one I've ever come across. Would not trade it for any PVM, not even for a GDM-W900

  • @P-0-Seventeen

I've never seen more philips tv's in my life then I've seen in this video, seems like there was an awful lot of cheaper end crt's that made it to this event and then the occasional Sony.
I wish there were more Samsungs and Panasonics there, I have a fond liking for those two brands and I think a fair few of their crt's are extremely underrated
Also those cheap funai 20 inch flat screens should come with s-video too, my emerson ewf2006 has s-vid on the back alongside composite in the front but those tv's have a common issue where the left side of the screen stretches to the edge. Still half decent tv's though, especially with s-vid!
