Greetings from Schuylkill County. I absolutely love Hawk Mountain. I Was A Boy Scout when I was a kid and I loved when we were able to go camping up at Hawk Mountain.
Waking up every morning at 6:00 a.m. to jump into the lake. Earning the Wilderness survival merit badge. Shooting at the range. Everyone gathering in the Great Hall for meals.
o7 stay safe out there. Thanks for the video.

✨✨👍✨✨Fantastic views...wow! Hey Cliff, that area name, Hall of the Mountain King reminded me of the Eric Burdon song Spill the Wine...Here the verse from the song:
    There I was
I was taken to a place
The hall of the mountain kings
I stood high by the mountain tops
    Naked to the world

Hawk Mt is one of my favorite places to go. I take my binoculars and sit and watch the birds all day. Over the years it is gotten so crowded on North Lookout that i barely go there anymore. It''s noisy and very hard to find a place to sit safely even in summer when there are no school groups there. Early spring is a great time to go, March and April. Love the fall colors!!

Nice to see the fall colors. They didn't last long around here we had over a week of 50+mph winds so striped them real quick. I'm guessing not all hawks migrate cause I have 3 different kinds around my house and they stay all winter.

I love this place! I didn’t know there was an east lookout! I’ll have to check that next time I get there.

I love this place. My girlfriend and I saw a black bear 3 weeks ago on the River of Rocks trail. First bear we've seen in person, about 200 feet away I'd say.

The wind sound and the overcast have that definite pre-winter feeling. I get that sense even here in Arizona.

Hi Cliff, thank you for taking us on a beautiful hike, the colours were stunning to see both close up and far away.
I don't blame you wanting the peace of being alone in nature as I was like that myself when I could get out.
Thank you for sharing, much love. xx ❤

Shooting birds for sport was very big back in the twenties and thirties. Here in Schuylkill County we had pigeon shoots. Breeding, raising, and training pigeons was a big deal.
The Hegins Labor Day pigeon shoot was like this Super Bowl. Guys like Reed Middleton and Eddie Kelly we're Legends. Imagine it's the twenties and you have an opportunity to win $1,000 purse at a pigeon shoot.
There's a book called growing up with Bootleggers gamblers and pigeons, by Patrick M Canfield.
If you're interested in Coal region history, you will love this book.

They are making too much noise at the North Lookout, scaring the birds away 🤪

Yes, for all to enjoy. but if they are not quiet the birds will not come close. I see more hawks at the base of Bake oven Knob then I do on Hawk mountain.

I was there after I first moved to Berks county in 1972 form Philadelphia. I consider myself a Berks Countian after 50 years of living in Exeter Township. I was sorry to hear there is a charge now, it was free back then. What is the fee to look at gods good earth from there now?

That ability to zoom in that close with thar clarity should be a astute reminder of vulnerability. Call me naive. That was a wake up call. Aside from that , appreciate your videos desperately needed to provide a safe sanctuary.
