Thank you so much for this😭 I’m a sophomore in hs and have been looking at colleges since freshman year and today ICU came to our school, and man. They radicalized me, and this even more, I can’t wait to go to ICU.
Ooooo yesss it’s a really pretty school! Makes me wish i was a full time student there! But one thing to note, if you come in as a normal student (to study for 4 years), you will be placed in one of the other dorms (so not in dialogues house like how i was) but either way i feel like its a great experience!
its great to see how vastly improved the dorms in ICU are.. the time I stayed at the then 1st Men's Dormitory was really some of the most memorable I had in ICU...

You're living my dream life right now !! I've been wanting to go to Japan since I was young so bad. Whether it's studying there, visting, working, or moving. The dorm room looks so nice too, also Blue Lock manga wall. >>>
omgg so grateful I found your vid! but wanted to see if you could help me out with a few questions: I plan to study abroad in the same Uni. during Fall of next year and wanted to know 1. How did you arrange to get into the dialogue house, did you have to call or email someone from the school? 2. What was price of staying in the dorm you stayed in? 3. Were any courses difficult? 4.How difficult was the language barrier? would truly appreciate it💕✨
Yessss ofc im happy to answer!! 1.) so all international students live at the dialogue house dorm (if you get in). once you get accepted, you can apply to live in the on-campus dorm (with the only option being dialogue house). ICU will give you access for the dorm application, so no need to contact anybody. I think for my term, about 80%ish of ppl who applied got in the dorm (but space is limited so it depends on how many ppl apply during your term). 2.) at Dialogue house, everyone pays the same amount, which was about $600 per month. But keep in mind that your rent for the whole quarter is due around the same time you arrive (so you have to pay $1800 at the beginning of the quarter). 3.) honestly, i didnt find any courses too difficult! I found them more fun than anything. They really care about attendance though so that could hinder some travelling plans. (I took J1 and Japan studies there. So my class was either in beginner japanese bcs we were learning, or all in english so that made it so much easier to do well). 4.) everyone at ICU is pretty good at english (being proficient in english is required to apply there)! So it was pretty easy to communicate with teachers/staff/students. I also loved the vibe at icu. The japanese students that i met were really friendly to me, and made efforts to make me feel included. They offer a lot of classes in english also, so that helped a lot!
also my advice: join clubs at ICU!!! i joined the tennis club (called footloose, which is for all levels) and i feel like that totally impacted my study abroad experience in the best way! I got to talk with the japanese students more, practice my japanese, and become friends with them. Clubs in japan also have a lot of fun events tied to them, so its a chance to see some friends outside of school (eating, karaoke, etc)!
thank you!! thank you!! really appreciate your videos and time to respond making this planning a bit easier on me. again truly appreciate it and wish nothing, but for more growth to your channel
Thank you sm for the vlog! I'll be studying at ICU next spring :) Do you know by any chance if we can request for a specific room mate or for the single?
Omg you’re gonna have so much fun!! As for roommates, you cant request someone, but they give u a questionnaire and try to match u up with someone based on on your answers. I feel like it really worked out for me! Also im not sure if im remembering wrong, but there werent any singles in Dialogue house (international student dorms). But i think there are some in the other dorms (but those arent available for international students)
