What if we n f1 career mode you could choose a year you start and go back to those cars with the same teams and driver line up and the cars and livery that changed every season you did to what they were irl with every time the rules and regulations changed like in f1 22 the cars would look as they did in the years after for the next 4seasons
This is probably my least fevoriet F1 game from a gameplay standpoint, I despise the handeling (altho not as bad as 22 but atleast I had fun in that game from time to time), altho the OST, especialy the multiplayer lobby theme, is a banger, and it added F1 coop career back with an option to be on oposing teams rather then just the same team, and Real Season Starts which for some reason never made a return and that sadens me. Handling was amazing, story was good for its first attempt, and my team and career didn't need updates at that point because it had just gotten a massive one the year prior (the addition of my team itself) Plus you got the real season start and career customisation with the r&d and the cash sliders. That's a good improvement from 2020 which was a very very good game anyway
@@Frizzstroyer for controller the handling took a huge step back from 2019 and 2020. The story unfortunately wasn’t good in 21 or 23 which is a real shame bc I wanted it to be good so badly, but it wasn’t as good as Grid Legends even which is in itself a cringe story but they managed to do the whole DTS thing better than the actual F1 games have. Career sliders I will admit was a good addition but I don’t really think they have much impact on the career, at least not as much as I’d like them to.
Counter point... Brake point didn't need to be amazing story telling, it told a semi realistic story which can and has happened in F1 before I'd go so far as to call it safe. In 23 it tackled a fairly hot button topic in how the first female drive in F1 would be like and the pressures that'd have. Whilst also keeping a fairly compelling but again... safe narrative it's genuinely hard to make a story for F1 without going either too Hollywood or too bland whilst also being somewhat realistic about how tensions and such play out
@@charleshibberd3329 I played on controller in 2021 and switched to wheel when I got one at Christmas that year. Wheel felt better, but that's given. Controller was fine. You just need to make your own setup to suit it You can't use the default or premade setups by other people because it won't work
@@Frizzstroyer yeah that’s what I dislike about it though, it loses the pick up and play element. I only play on controller and tbh I don’t see any point spaffing £70 on a game that I can’t just jump in and play. It’s not iRacing, it’s a game for everyone to be able to play and if you have to start messing around making your own setups to be able to control the car it’s a big no for me. Might be good for someone with a wheel who sweats the game and wants to think they’re a pro like most of these RUclipsrs but for the general casual player it sucks arse.
Absolutely not. And I have reasons. 1: The handling was complete garbage. It's like EA wanted to make Need for Speed, but they made F1 instead, and the cars felt like that, like they wanted to drift in any corner. High speed corners were nigh impossible because the cars had a huge tendency to spin. Especially Abu Dhabi, Melbourne, Catalunya and Silverstone were absolutely nightmarish to drive, and don't get me started on the curbs that were basically made of ice. 2: Speaking of Melbourne, the calendar is incorrect. The 2021 calendar has Melbourne as Round 1 followed by Bahrain, Imola and Shanghai (later replaced with Portimão), but this isn't depicted in-game. Instead, Melbourne is the third to last race, and EA SPORTS was too lazy to implement a function to change the race order in-between seasons, making this the worst calendar in the history of F1. 3: AI driver performance is completely unrealistic. I have seen several cases in which Valtteri Bottas becomes champion instead of Lewis Hamilton, who is certainly the better driver. Worse though, ever since the update that changed the car performance, Verstappen dominates everything in Career Mode unless you hold him up or take him out. Heck, even Daniel Ricciardo became champion one time! 4: The damage is ridiculous. You just minimally scratch your front wing, and it feels like 95% of your front downforce is gone even though there is zero visual damage. Like, what the heck has EA SPORTS been doing? This is no damage model for an F1 car, and it's not like F1 cars don't have an underfloor that generates high speed downforce. 5: Engine failures. While it's nice that the player can suffer terminal failures too, they happen way too often. I have seen one case in which someone suffered two failures in five races on low fault frequency, which is absolutely ridiculous, and it's sad that the durability upgrades don't decrease the probability of it happening. Especially since the bug in F1 23 from the same developer that gives terminal failures on standard fault types, I don't use this feature anymore. 6: This may be a perspective thing, but another big problem is the lack of soul. After taking over the development, EA SPORTS didn't even bother to get some of the experienced staff from Codemasters who made F1 2020. If they did, the game would have had more content like classic cars, short tracks and invitational events. However, EA SPORTS only made a basically barebones game with just the most necessary things. Heck, unlike F1 2020, the current F2 championship was missing at launch. I understand that this was EA SPORTS first F1 game since 2002, but considering that F1 2020, the predecessor, was the best F1 game ever at that time, the successor was not just a disaster, it was an utter catastrophe. Looking back, had the buyout never happened, F1 2021 could have been massively better compared to what we got, and this is so sad... I don't know how you guys feel about it, but F1 2021 is the worst F1 game ever, that is before F1 23 came out and reached an even lower all-time low.
f1 games have definitely been worse since ea came around. but is it a surprise? ea ruins every single brand and sport they put their greedy little hands on. madden for example (a football game for those who may not know) runs on the same fkn game engine as battlefield does. ea will never put in any effort to make a game good, just profitable.
Problem with F1 23 (I havent bothered to buy F1 24) is the fact that literally every single car goes on the same strategy. It is SO boring not to see any variety.
You just need to make your own setup to suit it
You can't use the default or premade setups by other people because it won't work
@@Frizzstroyer yeah that’s what I dislike about it though, it loses the pick up and play element. I only play on controller and tbh I don’t see any point spaffing £70 on a game that I can’t just jump in and play. It’s not iRacing, it’s a game for everyone to be able to play and if you have to start messing around making your own setups to be able to control the car it’s a big no for me. Might be good for someone with a wheel who sweats the game and wants to think they’re a pro like most of these RUclipsrs but for the general casual player it sucks arse.
no bro, I liked f1 2018 better
Merc engine sounds the worst in 21. Also
Nah, it was the first step back
2020 was good 2021 same 22 rubbish but 23 and 24 are good
no after 2020 only 2023 was good.
2020. downfall since then
Absolutely not.
I quite like 23 but on everything else you nailed it
21 was the worst
f1 games have definitely been worse since ea came around. but is it a surprise? ea ruins every single brand and sport they put their greedy little hands on. madden for example (a football game for those who may not know) runs on the same fkn game engine as battlefield does. ea will never put in any effort to make a game good, just profitable.
F1 2021 was absolutely shit
