I came to Canada expecting it to be different from Zimbabwe and the social contract to be honored but it's the same here. The Father knows best and days of people staying in one firm with a guaranteed pension are over. After doing everything right I have no company stability or pension. We have to work and be entrepreneurs, offering companies our skill. It's a shift that started in 2007 with the Great Recession. The African diaspora are working together in Canada to help Canada and each other. As a Maxwell Speaker I help migrants understand cultural differences and adjust. Many Africans refused to go back to Zimbabwe when independence came because they were out and saw that it would fail after a period of time. Building society with very rich and very poor and nanny states never works. Not supporting women's rights never works. Not supporting healthcare that's universal never works. All those who demonstrated for Black majority rule did nothing to help Zimbabwe when it came.
