@Eagle Fang Christopher didn’t have to leave just cause he didn’t get a raise 😂. Christopher made plenty of money off the show he was just getting greedy and wanted a little more cash so don’t blame nbc.
The irony here is Christopher left the show because he didn’t get more money so he went to smaller things since svu was the biggest show he worked on and made less money than he did when he was on svu. Not only that, their lives are more complicated now. The four older Stabler kids would probably understand them getting together eventually, but Eli and Noah are gonna be interesting.
He didn't mean it that way. He meant that when he was part of the squad he had free run, but since he left he is no longer an insider with the squad. That was incredible acting by Mariska and why she gets the big bucks, the disorientation at the end was a fantastic choice. Chris Meloni was my favorite detective growing up, such an amazing scene.
“I think if I talked to you about....” and then Olivia interrupts him...he was about to say something about how he felt about her...and Kathy also said Elliot kept telling her that they haven’t talked and she said she couldn’t believe it...seems like she was jealous and that may be part of his reason why he left...

Yeah..more than ten years later and the chemistry is still there. There DID that! Its like they have this bond that's on another level. It's really fun to watch! also omg at Liv being so dizzy after this conversation, she couldn't even find the exit.
I think it’s going to take more than just 8 episodes to get them on the right track. Like she said he was the single most important person in her life and he disappeared. Had he not left her she likely would not have been kidnapped (twice). She needed him more than anything with Lewis and he was not there. It’s going to take time for them to get right. And rightfully so. If the writers rush into it, it will ruin the show.
Coming from someone who has had mostly male friends throughout my teenage & adult years and whose best friend of about a decade is also a male; these two are definitely in love with each other. Just the way they look at each other, how they have such an emotional impact on one another that just hearing the others voice would cause them to completely change their mind on certain issues. Someone you love platonically doesn't usually have that kind of effect on you. Just my thoughts.
Thank you for sharing your perspective. I'm biased because I want them to confess their feelings and end up together, but it's nice hearing what you said as affirmation.
MY HEART !!! I'm so happy and thankful they gave this to us fans. We were hurt by Elliot suddenly disappearing as well. My heart is full seeing them on the screen together again though
@Abby Castle I wouldn't call myself a rabbid shipper I'm just stating what I see. the dude literally said he loved her while he was looking right at her in the last episode we saw and didn't even try to cover. In front of his kids one of which even asked Liv back in the day if they had ever slept together no less. Then when he tried to call her after the I love you Olivia wouldn't take his calls after. If he just meant it platonically and she knew that why would she be actively laying awake avoiding his calls? If you really think they aren't building up to putting them together at this point you're blind.
@Abby Castle there are little comments here and there throughout the first 12 seasons and even now with his return that show they do actually love each other. Everyone sees it. Fin catching stabler up on the last 10 years, he won’t tell Elliot who the guy was because he knows he will get upset. Wheatley even knows. Back in season 7 when she didn’t shoot the suspect because she could hit stabler, he says I know you would have taken the shot she says no I wouldn’t have. You expect me to cause your death? What about your kids (not family, just the kids) what about me? He got jealous anytime she was seeing someone or flirting. Cassidy when they were first sleeping together he calls her out on it. That fbi dude, he got jealous anytime they talked and actively intervened. There are plenty of scenes and small things to suggest their love was more than platonic. Her reaction when he left was not just a long time partner retiring.
Elliot owed Olivia that apology & then some. Elliot left her, without a word. Olivia would never have done that to him. He never spoke to her or saw her again for years. She would never have done that to him & the worst thing in the world is that we know it, Olivia knows it & Elliot knows it. You can tell who really cares about you & values you as a person, by their behaviour towards you. Elliot valued Olivia when it suited him. He threw away years of friendship when he left her & when he never saw or spoke to her again.
Honestly, it made me sad to see that Stabler and Benson didn’t talk for 10 years because I liked to imagine that they were still friends behind the scenes the whole time 😭
Even Mariska saying that she was devastated that Chris left the show that they both built together, they both remained close friends off screen and remained in contact until his return to the show
I'm still in awe of both their acting. Especially in the beginning here, how perfectly they portray the distance and awkwardness but very specifically not awkward like I dont know you, awkward like I know you too well and I dont know where to start. Its incredible.
This broke me. I have always admired these two. This is one of the most important character portrayals on television because these two are not just professionals they are the closest and deepest of friends. More than a spouse, I want that kind of friendship.
I haven't watched svu in years and it's a breath of fresh air to see this. Elliot was and still is one of the best character in the series. I teared up for sure! This scene was personal .
"You were the most, single most important person in my life and you just disappeared". "I was afraid that if I heard your voice i wouldn't have been able to leave". #Bensler
The way their eyes meet when she says 'you walked away' is SO electric and explains everything either of them have said about working together (again ) and how there's just something. It's incredible. Also I'm really, really glad Mariska worked through her stumble and they kept it because the emotions are tangible. Their emotions this entire episode/s compared to the S24 finale show their journey and yes, it's taking a long time, but it has to. He was gone for a decade.
Eliot is such a very great man. He's strong and rough but can also show he's emotions... I can relate to him leaving without telling Olivia cuz he knew that just the sound of her voice might have kept him there. I know some people in my own life that would make me stay just by hearing the sound of their voice....
I have watched this clip so many times and still moves me. I feel the pain of Olivia and Elliott and it just breaks my heart. I don’t know how their story will develop but I would love to see them confess their feelings to each other...because they have kept them bottled ip for so long!
Wow that hit me like a ton of bricks really glad the reunion wasn’t all puppies and roses it was real and genuine there was hurt resentment and regret behind it all and none if it was all resolved right away.
Best duo in television history. The writers did such a good job of putting the awkwardness there and major kudos to Meloni & Hargitay for making us feel like we did ten years ago. I really hope they don’t put them together. What made them so good together is they weren’t together. Really looking forward to organized crime. Good to have you back, Stabler!
I think what made this scene so powerful was Olivia's voice. The anger, confusion, and dissatisfaction. All of it, so well expressed in this little exchange. How else dose one react when their best friend leaves and suddenly reappears a whole decade later?
Their closure was overshadowed by Kathy injured, then dying and everyone wanting to catch the attacker. I just wish it could have happened under different circumstances. Otherwise, fantastic episode.
So much to process! Liv who still is dealing with the Elliot’s abandonment. Elliot walking back into SVU, attempting to salvage partnerships and explain why he walked out so abruptly. To complicate matters Elliot and family are targets! Elliot and Olivia seemed to struggle with unrequited Love ❤️ which I find to be incredibly romantic 🥰
I know that it was a dispute with the network about his contract renewal and salary...but I still felt liv's heart break. Great acting from both.such amazing chemistry. 😭😭😭😭
Elliott and Olivia were so sweet to each other and I knew that they were closer than ever before and they shared feelings for each other and they will be my favorite people in the world because I really miss their time together and it's has been 10 years since he left and he is back for real
"You were the single most important person in my life and you just disappeared." That did it for me
Omg did it for me too . That moment was just WOW!!! 🤯

@Abby Castle excuse me, what do you mean with "platonic"?.
Is that you like his mind, his thoughs only ?
The body shapes are nothing ?
Love this scene! When you care about someone so much and they’ve hurt you. You don’t know if to stay and listen or run.
As a Law and order SVU fan this scene was the most touching moment between these two.
He's loved her all this time.
I can't believe I actually cried during this scene. So good to have them back 😭😭
So... This is a nice BEGINNING, but Stabler trust me you're gonna need to work harder than this... And that letter better be written like poetry
Yesterday was a historic day.... Thanks svu
Their chemistry has always been freakish. Like the best ever. It's quite something isn't it?
Omg i waited 10 years for this moment! "Elliott we dont have to do this"
Me: Yes the Hell you do!
I cried I missed not having him on the show its good to have christopher meloni back
the way they say each other's name. I can't
We waited 10 years for this and it was worth every minute.
Great Scene. Great Script. Great Acting. and that's why 21 years later they are still one of the greatest shows cast ad crew on TV
#Bensler
“El I’m good” all the times she said that when Stabler was asking if she was okay back when they were partners. Brings me back :(
The way their eyes meet when she says 'you walked away' is SO electric and explains everything either of them have said about working together (again ) and how there's just something.
OMG I have waited forever for this reunion.. For the die hard fans we need an I LOVE YOU...
He still gets her all discombobulated! Lol; "Where's the exit"? These two has obviously always had feelings beyond work for each other.💗❤💔🥰
I have watched this clip so many times and still moves me. I feel the pain of Olivia and Elliott and it just breaks my heart. I don’t know how their story will develop but I would love to see them confess their feelings to each other...because they have kept them bottled ip for so long!
I miss them😭😭😭😭
Wow that hit me like a ton of bricks really glad the reunion wasn’t all puppies and roses it was real and genuine there was hurt resentment and regret behind it all and none if it was all resolved right away.
“Unstabler” would’ve held her back.. Liv would still be a detective if Ellie stuck around
I think this wasn't planned, which made the emotion even better.
I love them together
Stabler might give us something else worth watching on Thursday nights again.
I really hope that they can go back to being best friends like they were in the past
i’ve never been happier about anything in my life!!!!! Stabler’s back!!!!!!! dreams really do come true
omg i love this. the feelings..even after all this time. For some reason i always wanted them to be endgame
THIS RETURN HAD ALL THE FEELS. I loved it. We have closure and it has more to come over time.
It was so emotional... God, they really need to talk more about their feelings 😭💞
She didn't say it but even though she's hurt and sill is she forgives him, she just happy he's back.
Brilliant to have her so addled she could not remember the way out! So hopeful for whats to come!
The way they kept repeating each other names gave me goosebumps
I think what made this scene so powerful was Olivia's voice. The anger, confusion, and dissatisfaction. All of it, so well expressed in this little exchange. How else dose one react when their best friend leaves and suddenly reappears a whole decade later?
😭 Liv and Elliot please I can’t handle this right now 😭❤️
Their closure was overshadowed by Kathy injured, then dying and everyone wanting to catch the attacker. I just wish it could have happened under different circumstances. Otherwise, fantastic episode.
It’s crazy they both needed to hear 👂 this from each other and fans
WHY DOES THIS HAVE TO AIR AT THE SAME TIME AS GREY'S ANATOMY
Exactly what I am saying.
That's what recording is for
I know
I choose law and order say all the way
Both can be seen again on Hulu the next day. Seeing Stabler & Benson again, my 1st choice
It good to see them back together again I hope to see more scene with them together.
This brought out goose bumps! I'm so glad this episode happened. A long time coming, but I'm so glad it did!
Have to say they have done these returning scenes perfectly, the emotion showed is incredible by Olivia & Elliot and I just hope they continue.
This is so Hurtful and Heartwarming at the Same Time. 💔❤
I know this might be uncommon but it’s always the music from this show that gets to people every time.
They both still look great! Best and longest running show on TV!!!!
This makes me feel like my younger self watching law and order for the first time 😭
I have to wait 10 years to this. I'm in tears.
The way she looks at him like she ain't trying to hear it. You left me point blank
Yeah they had real chemistry together romantically they should get together in the crossover episodes.
