@MusicianParadise do you have to keep the card in the machine while you use those sounds? Or can you "load" the sounds into the R8? That way, you could hypothetically load various cards into the machine?
@@dpalaoroYou can load only one card into the machine, so you will have the default internal sound set plus the sounds from the card. If you change the card, the sounds from the previous card will be replaced. Later iterations of the Roland R series have more sounds (almost all the cards) on board but fewer editing possibilities.

Yes, R8 MK II has more sounds by default and double memory for patterns. However, some purists says R8 MK I sounds somehow "better" due to downgraded DAC converters on MK II although I can´t confirm it in any way :)

Yes, and the possibility of real time recording of any parameter with the famous slider can take R8 into completely new sonic territory

I owned the R8. Little did I know at the time that installing ROM sounds would wipe out everything in memory

I believe it is SN-R8-04 Electronic or SN-R8-10 Dance; those are two of my favorites. Unfortunately, I don't remember exactly which one it was.
Apologies if this is a stupid question, but do these patterns/rhythms come as presets when you load the card?
Yes, exactly! When you insert the card you can access the demo song and patterns specific to each card!
Thanks very much ! Sometimes I do feel I should get a R8 instead of the R8M :D
Yes, because of sequencing capabilities - real time recording of sound editing parameters is a lot of fun!

which drums play in card 07? Spec. Snare and Toms?
