5:55 grateful for my mission. I had served 5 years in the military then, a mission. Missions can teach you to be an adult. More importantly how to be a true discipline.
The "go and sin no more" is God forgiving us 70x7, he forgives us whenever we repent, second chances IN THIS LIFE. But if one dies in their sins, in the eternities, it's a different story.
Great video. Thanks for sharing. I think Peterson has it backwards. My recollection from past study of the Old Testament, is that the right hand of God is mercy/grace/salvation, and the left hand is justice/judgement. But I'm glad he made the point that there are two contrasting sides.
To that very last clip: if only there was some way we could get young people to leave their homes, for an extended period of time, and go into the world to serve their communities… maybe they could care for the sick and needy, serve the hungry and cold, and comfort the broken hearted. Oh! And this would be great, maybe we could expose them to new cultures as part of their transition into adulthood… if only there was a way. What? Have them knock on doors and learn to deal with rejection? I mean, I suppose that is a useful skill if they go into business, or have opinions that run contrary to the mainstream, or desire to stand up for themselves and their values at any time in their life. Maybe they could even learn new languages, that’d be cool! That all being said, these are all obviously secondary to preaching the Gospel of Christ, but isn’t it interesting how missionary service provides so many benefits that our society needs?
You may very well be right. Many scholars agree with you. However, there is evidence that may actually be a conflation of two earlier stories, possibly original to Luke, but that they somehow found their way into John. Whether or not this was original, it is a beautiful story and it does teach true doctrine. I'm not quite ready to throw it out of my Bible quite yet.
"Human beings are born in some sense...uh...fetal" 🤣🤣 This man is a genius. 😁 And who the heck decorated that room? Is JP going all Unibomber?? He's looking more unhinged than usual...🤷♂️ But yes, good advice. Parents have some discipline with your damn kids!!! Thanks. 😀💙🧡💚
What most of the Christian church misleads is the true nature of God regarding eternal hell. This was never even a word used in the Hebrew Old testament, Hell. In the NT Christ talked about "the place of the dead", not hell, and it was "for a time", not eternal. We stand before God, all of us, and we have to go through a purity test, and what starts that is out faith in Christ, if we don't have that faith then we have more to go though before we get to heaven, but there will be a end to the darkness. It's not eternal, that's why Christ when and ministered to the souls at the place of the dead (hell), so every knee will bow and confess He is Lord. Amen. There is hope for everyone
@@McGuyveracity that's a theory, not biblically based. Unless your referring to the nephilim, but even then, isn't it interesting that God didn't even destroy Lucifer? Interesting He cast them out of heaven, along with all other fallen angels but did not destroy them forever. How much more would He be with humans made in His image?
@David M, It's not a theory, it's scriptural. For instance, consider the following scripture passages about the sons of perdition: None of them is lost but the son of perdition, John 17:12. It is impossible to renew them again unto repentance, Heb. 6:4-6 (Heb. 10:26-29). Mercy hath no claim on that man and his final doom is never-ending torment, Mosiah 2:36-39. He is as though there was no redemption made, Mosiah 16:5. Those who deny Christ’s miracles to get gain shall become like the son of perdition, 3 Ne. 29:7. They will receive no forgiveness in this world or the next, D&C 76:30-34 (D&C 84:41; 132:27). They are the only ones who will not be redeemed from the second death, D&C 76:34-48. Sons of perdition deny the Holy Spirit after receiving it, D&C 76:35. Sons of perdition deny the Son after the Father has revealed him, D&C 76:43. Cain shall be called Perdition, Moses 5:22-26.
People say they love God but they don't keep his commandments. This is confusion. People miscalculate God when they believe he wont punish for breaking his laws. Not a creature escapes his divine wrath.
I don't believe that God punishes me for my sins, I believe my sins punish me all by themselves. We are not punished for our siins, we are punished by them. We, through the years, have turned God into a form for our own purposes. We use fear, intimidation, coercion etc. These all can bring temporary, anxiety filled change, but will never lead to long-term durable transformation. We are saved by Grace, period. Obedience, sacrifice, consecration, etc are all fruits of the covenant, they are not currency for it. God transforms us through love, illuminated by the life and sacrifice of Jesus Christ. Covenant is not a way for me to get right with God, it's a way for me to get with God so I can be made right. My redemption is not something reserved for some distance future date, it begins now, in this life. I'm learning to be alive in Christ in the present, to develop an intimate relationship that, not even death, can separate.
So, by this analysis, a man should at least hate, detest, and be his own worst enemy in so much as he does not measure up to God's expectation and agenda and merit his portion of heaven, or his heavenly reward? Then, then that would also explain that Christ had to die for our sin(s). All those sins we committed to convince God that we are worthy of heaven. I thought Jesus saved us from that fate, at least that we should always hate or detest ourselves for never being able to measure up to such an agenda, especially as it can be twisted , corrupted and perverted by the vices of men. Otherwise why would he have mediated on behalf of the woman caught in adultery if this act was in opposition to God's covenant? An adulteration of it, if the woman was not punishished in accordance? Why would he have councelled them(her accusers) to make an exception or have intervened on her behalf? It must have been partly to keep himself from committing an error, even if they would not or could not forgive him for doing so....which inevitably was the case. Right, that proved his point. He obviously knew the risk he was taking but did it anyway and paid the price. Would that make Jesus a feminist? At least in your mind? Watering down the wine so-to-speak? Or are you saying that feminists are willing to take the risk but not willing to pay the price because they are unwilling to acknowledge that there is one, or will be one, or not at least, if they stick with left wing post modern ideologs and the woke/authoritarian religionists, and convert us all to sexless drones or their confused clones? I always think of Jesus as a mediator, who tried to restore the possibility of a peaceful "path" or way out or "through" to use a Jungian expression, or "outcome," to use a contemporary term that might be re-purposed to make it a little more "green", at least in the spiritual sence, if that were possible in our era. My hunch is that he is visiting with those from the Poets' Corner and the "Philosopher Kings."
Really excellent. Clarifies this doctrine wonderfully

Yes, that’s right
This has got to be one of my favorite uploads of yours, amazing stuff.
This is a great one!

Go Jacob
2:19 The story of “the woman taken in adultery “ is a well known forgery inserted into the gospel.

we should create a required reading list for EQ presidencies to read so they can understand basic doctrine.

Hope for everyone? Not the sons of perdition.

How much sexual abuse do kids need to suffer in this God-forsaken church, by leaders? Where is their justice IN THIS LIFE
