The 14yr old goes to therapy for something that never happened? You have ptsd because he peed all over everything? Why is EVERYONE in this story going to therapy? And what a weak marriage you had if it can't survive this.

He has some kind of protector hero complex from childhood and he felt like he fundamentally failed her when he failed to protect her from Ash. Seeing her everyday would have just reminded him of that failure
