    Hey Chris, good review on the generator. Almost fell off my seat when I saw you reviewing it. I just bought this same unit 3 weeks ago. I also have a 2021 Goldwing which is where I follow you most of time. I RV as well so loved the video. Thanks

    Have had this generator for 3 years living in New Orleans , Have it set up like a stand by with a manual transfer switch and a small shed next to both NG and the transfer switch. Has worked on demand countless times.Last Sunday we had a short power outage and I started it up, ran as I expected for 1 hour and suddenly stoped . After bringing to a local shop they found that it had a valve issue, A bit of an inconvenience but not a big issue. Still recommend and no regrets

    Thanks for the link Chris! That is an amazing price just for a gas generator with that high of peak watts. But, to get a tri-fuel and free shipping, amazing!!!

    Sir: As an ex-Tool & Die Maker, Machinist, and Vo-Ed Machine Trades Teacher--I APPLAUD YOU! This is THE FINEST RUclips I have seen explaining machinery. We all thank you! You covered all the bases and did it clearly and cogently. You have a very good voice as well. Going out to buy one tomorrow at COSTCO here in Ohio. CARRY ON!

    I have this exact generator too, and like it very much. I run it only on natural gas so I don’t have to store any gasoline or propane. Thanks for a great refresher on the generator and how to use it. 👍

    Never shut the generator off under load , Always disconnect the generator before shutting down .

    I like mine a lot, especially during the Texas freeze and assorted power outages. The 1/2" natural gas hose I bought had a 3/8" Female by 1/2" Male brass adapter to connect to the generator. It was too long (deep) on the female end and I had to sand it down so the flange in the adapter would seal against the LP gas fitting on the generator. The other end is a 1/2" male quick disconnect fitting which easily connects to the female fitting attached at the gas valve. I ended up installing a MB Sturgis Propane Elbow Adapter at the generator 3/8" POL fitting. It is a 3/8" Female Flare Swivel x 3/8" Male Flare (Item # 204163) that I purchased from etrailer . Then I installed the 3/8" Female x 1/2" Male brass adapter there. I can plug the 240V 30A cable to the outlet which is connected to the house electrical panel. I have a 4-ton (46,000 BTU) A/C unit. I installed a Micro-Air EasyStart 368 (4-ton) Soft Starter ASY-368-X48-BLUE. My AC unit now uses 12.8 to 13.8 Amps and a Start Peak of 33 to 36 Amps. My UPS's seem to beep & click when connected to the generator. I have a stupid power strip plugged into the battery backup side with items plugged into the strip. All I have to do is move one plug to the surge protector side. And then turn off UPS. Surge protector should still work. FYI ... The 50 Amp outlet only puts out 31 Amps.

    • @gilbrook
      @gilbrook Год назад

      That sounds very good. I have 4 ton A/C too and getting this generator. Now soliciting quotes from electricians for 30A outside receptacle and manual transfer interlock slider for my 200A service panel. Is this how U connected your generator? Objective is to run furnace (w/integrated humidifier/air cleaner) in winter and 4 ton A/C unit w/dehumidifier during summer time in a power outage. ThankU.

    • @rwstarke
      @rwstarke Год назад +1

      @@gilbrook The Interlock slider is the way to go. Be sure to turn off all the breakers before switching to generator and before switching back to the grid. Then turn on the breakers individually.

    • @gilbrook
      @gilbrook Год назад

      @@rwstarke I’d be running my Firman exclusively in NG mode. Is that how UR running yours? If UR, I’m surprised your 4 ton unit running even w/EasyStart - generator limit 6,900A starts, 5,500A continuous run. Micro-Air generator sizing chart says 7100W generator likely needed for 4 ton A/C w/ASY-368-X48-BLUE EasyStart. U lucked out?

    • @rwstarke
      @rwstarke Год назад +1

      @@gilbrook I only use NG. My A/C unit is 46,000 BTU and has a LRA of 109. EasyStart starts the fan and then gradually increases the power until the compressor is running. I have used the generator 3 times during power outages in the summer and always ran the A/C. There is a Micro-Air smartphone app that connects to the Soft Starter (when running) thru Bluetooth and can monitor line freq, live current, last start peak and other info. I also took some white-out and marked each end of the 30A cable/outlet with a white line to make it easy to line up the plug in the outlet before twisting the plug. Helps when it is dark. Check NG connections with soapy water.

    • @gilbrook
      @gilbrook Год назад

      @@rwstarke Thx for pointers RW! Checked label on my outside A/C unit. It’s 5 tons (60,000 BTUs) w/LRA = 150. Won’t be able to run A/C during summer power fail even w/EasyStart, but could run my dehumidifier w/o it. Still getting the Firman T07571.

    I live off the grid…We use our generators for electric washing machines and propane dryers ( electric motors.)
    We have use several different generators in the last 20 + years..
    Our first time using the firman. (Costco)..
    The firman..burns gas….
    My usual is one gallon of gas to run the washer and dryer…the Firman burns almost 2 gallons…
    The Honda gens seems better gas mileage….my Champion…did better…
    The Generac…for our coffee mill…also seems to be better on gas…

    The biggest problem with generators are Bad Gas . If you have gasoline in the tank use prescriptive in the fuel otherwise it will go bad . Gasoline is only good for 3 months on its own . Use up the fuel up .
