October 12th, 2018 -- This is Episode one of my "Fort Lauderdale Species Slam;" a.k.a. the Florida Species Slam!!! The main objective of this fishing trip was to see HOW MANY SPECIES of fish I would be able to land in a 5-days period of fishing.
In EP1, I tried to catch some unknown Species of fish that were swimming right by my feet!!!

Here is Episode #1 of my _"Fort Lauderdale Species Slam;"_ a.k.a. the *FLORIDA SPECIES SLAM!* Make sure you folks participate in the poll in the Cards -- make it interactive! :)
In this video, I hit the Hillsboro Inlet and fished for some interesting Species swimming right *AT MY FEET!* Enjoy!
P.s. KastKing Give-Away winner will be announced on the 22nd of this month! Stay tuned!
Hi i love your vids i just cout a 33ib salmon
I actually caught a Crevalle Jack in a drag net a couple weeks ago in Long Island.
30 to 50 is my guess
Use bread or floating trout bait waitles to catch mullet
3000lb
Jacks are very good cut bait for larger game fish including stingray, black drum, bull redfish, and various species of sharks! Where you are depending on the depth, you could maybe hit up a public pier in search of a smaller goliath grouper!!
Very Cool Congratulations Fisherman!
Stay with God and good fishing.👍🎣🐠
Every since I watched the live-streams I was so ready to see these sweet videos
I’ve been waiting I kept refreshing and refreshing and finally I can get to see some amazing mulispecies fishing
Best RUclips fishing channel, by a ton!! Great video again Leo!! Enjoy that weather!
I always love watching your florida videos!
This video is great! I'm so happy you finally brought your photo tank with you on this trip 😆😆👏👏👏👐👍
Awesome video Leo! Nice talking to you on the train the other day!
The livestream got me all hyped up for this!!!!
I definitely think that last fish you caught is a sand drum. I looked up a picture of the striped croaker and the eye seemed to be much bigger in proportion to its body than the fish you caught. (the picture was in your photo database). Also after looking at the two the mystery fish just looked more like a sand drum
I love when you come to Florida. I live in FL and your teaching me so much. Awesome video bro .
You are my favorite youtuber epf
Nice Leo! Love these Florida videos, I definitely need to plan a fishing trip like this sometime soon.
Definitely recommended, Chris! And when I have time, I will write some stuff no Florida on the Patreon Blog, for sure!
Have always enjoyed your videos, always an inspiration!!
Was that a large porcupine puffer in the water at 17:04? Looked like it.
Leo, I deal with puffers here in Miami all the time! You had some great catches!
I think I'm going to start "collecting species" of fish as well! I've always been a multi species fishermen but ive never thought of "collecting" them by taking pictures and keeping a list! Thanks for the awesome take on multi species!
Really felt your dedication to quality content and the sport in this one!!! AWESOME!!!
Nice haul, going to Florida in February. First time saltwater fishing there since I was a kid. Going to try catching all these species I see on your Florida vids
Awesome, Joseph! I hope you have a lot of fun down there! Species paradise, for sure.
LOVE the channel. Love how excited you get for every fish!
I love how Leo’s inner “kid fishermen” comes out when goes to tropical spots or places stacked with species 😂😂❤️
Great job Leo! Keep fishing brotha. 👍🏽🎣🐟
"Mang-Grove Ez-napper" We need more Ez! *riot *
Leo I love your channel can’t stop watching ur vids
Great video and you will catch 15 different species
Another great video man! Makes me want to get out and fish right now but I have to go to work 😭 I definitely need to explore the state some more living in Florida so many places to Fish!! 🎣
wild doggo doin a perfume in 7:08
Leo I spent thanksgiving in Perdido and I was able to add the Pigfish (orthopristis chrysoptera), Common Pinfish (lagodon rhomboides), and the Grey Snapper(mangrove) (lutjanus griseus) as well as break my PB Bluegill at 12 and a half inches!
Leo, you've answered another curiosity today. The last time I fished my local creek, I somehow found a school of shiners with my spoon -- by somehow managing to foul hook one on ever cast, several casts in a row -- so I moved to a different spot. Any way, I am not a life lister, but it was a new species for me, and I was also curious if foul hooking would count to your list. Apparently not! and thank you for answering before I asked!
Hearing you shout "shrimp! shrimp! shrimp!" at that cowfish was hilarious, love it
Hey Leo the last fish you caught on your video was a Corbina , I don’t know what type but we have them in socal
Great video leo
If you are gonna come here to Delray or boca Raton, if you haven’t get a clownfish knife, I could help you getting one in lake ida
Yes. I need the Clown Knifefish. Though, I would of course try to catch it by myself, without additional help.
Extreme Philly Fishing Well I wouldn’t help you, I’d just tell you where the best spot to catch them are, since they are kind of rare to catch and also very hard
I love these species slam videos :)
Love your videos. Keep it going!
Great video!
Very cool video dude, good job catching them
The fish in that video the (needlefish) is called ( Balajú) in Spanish thanks for all your video. Leo Chen
Here in South Africa we also call it a spottail or a "Dassie" (Dassie is a Afrikaans word). Spottails are really fun to catch and are strong fighters for their size. Love the videos bud, keep up the good work. Tight lines my friend!
Pretty good
"Shrimp. Shrimp. Shrimp. Shrimp Son. Shrimp. Shrimp. Shrimp. Shrimp. Shhriiimmpppp" --EPF
Looking for a dark keel on the base of the caudal fin also helps identify houndfish vs needlefish (the houndfish has it, the needlefish doesn't)
You should go for Atlantic spadefish. 😀
Nice vid keep it up
You should do a video with deer meat for dinner while down in Florida!
EPF YOU SHOULD COME TO COCOA BEACH!! PLEASE LIKE SO HE CAN SEE!!
I appreciate the suggestion, brother. But I am back in Philly already. :) The whole trip (day-by-day) was followed via Instagram! And I announced it here on RUclips.
Ohhhh
The only interesting species I caught while in Florida was the mangrove snapper and a small redfish. My snapper was about 2 or 3 times bigger though.
21:34 That croaker looks very similar to the yellowfin croaker that I have in California.
Good observation, Eugene! They are similar species indeed. :)
love your vids
EPF is the king
and the puffer does a double back twist with a full gainer bounce off the pier .... lmao...
The anticipation to find out what those species are actually is killing me. Lol
Awesome vid
New vid let's go
You should go see Catch em all fishing visit him he might take you to some nice place...
This was a solo trip. I appreciate the suggestion, though.
Love the vids bra
I was very unlucky last time i went to Florida to fish the red tide had hit right before i got there
Happy halloween leo
Second
Awesome vid by the way 😎
Instagram squad where you at?
Did you caught the big mouth sleeper? I have a good spot, if you want to give it a try, just say.
And I caught a different specie to me, the mountain/freshwater mullet, Agonostomus monticola, in the same spot.
Epf: "we don't want any fish dying"
(Not said in video" Epf: drops checkered puffer on hard wood
the cowfish is so cool
I hope the hooks did u good on your micro fishn.

Leo go for the man bun go for the man bun
Sweetie boy and love your vids been hear for 3 or 4 years
Here
Dang bro seams hot in Florida
Duuuuhhh !
Faverit youtuber
Niceee
You should’ve hit me up to get on some snakeheads😩
This was a solo Species Slam trip. If I had others help me catch species, my worth as a Multi-Species angler for this trip would mean nothing.
Extreme Philly Fishing understandable, as I am a multi-species angler well. Just thought it would be cool for you to catch some solid bullseye snakeheads before you left.
Hi
there is another guy who does goliath grouper charters... BLACKTIPH
You should try to find a larger photo tank for saltwater species this way they can swim and we can watch
Ayyyy
The striped croaker looked like some sort of whiting
Hey Leo (and fellow specieshunters)! What is the spottail pinfish debate? Got one myself when I was in Florida so would love to hear the thoughts about it.
It is pretty much Spottail Pinfish vs South American Silver Porgy. A.k.a. Diplodus holbrookii vs Diplodus argenteus. The range overlaps starting in Florida, and they look almost identical. Back in the days, some pointed out that the black dot at the caudal peduncle was a way of differentiating them; that the black dot on the D. argenteus was smaller. As it turns out, according to research papers on these two species, that is incorrect. Some others say that the definite proof lies in the row of molars in their mouths. But I have yet to find any research articles that even talk about the molars in D. argenteus. Though, in D. holbrookii, I know for a fact that there are three rows of molars.
thanks so much for your reply Leo! very interesting. gonna count mine as holbrookii for now ;)
Those little puffer make great tempura deermeatfordinner made a catch and cook on them
course croaker is what i heard their called
More trout videos pleaseeeeee
Nice video bro ! Got a bunch on the list this trip bro ! Way to Hookem in the mouth! Yooooo What’s up youtube!!!!!!!! Take it easy hound fish!
Put a bobber on it and take a nap!
yea i think its a needle fish , I used to have one in my fish tank, they are skinnier then other kind and then got eaten by the chichilds
GREAT VIDEO 😆 # FIRST #NOTIFICATIONSQUAD

Like the videos man. What does your wife do when you go out fishing all the time? Just curious.
She’s gotta tell you no sometime. Haha
She is very understanding. She knows that most of the fishing and filming is for the job. On the other hand, she also knows that RUclips hasn't been going well for me for the past few months or so. Income is low due to low view count. Therefore, sometimes we sit and talk about it. But thankfully, she never goes nuts on me when it comes to fishing. Lol. When I am around, I treat her well. I make up for the time I am gone. 😄
almost looks like a baby redfish
the fish at 22:00 is a gulf kingfish, aka whiting
Exactly 47.
Checkered pufferfish aka toadie’s are delicious
Aren't needle and houndfish the same thing?
No. They are two separate Species. The Atlantic Needlefish is the _Strongylura marina._ The Houndfish is the _Tylosurus crocodilus._
that striped croaker looked like a whiting to me
Do a meet and greet
I am already back in Philadelphia. Maybe next time! I am going down there again in December.
What are you going to do when you get to things like sharks and Goliath grouper on your species list since your used to ultra-lite tackle?
I will purchase heavier gear that is not KastKing, since KastKing doesn't have yet a series for heavier fish. And I will try my best to catch those species without a guide or additional help, as always.
Awesome I can’t wait to see that until then I will watch you catch everything else that you can. I am really happy you replied and I actually bought a kast king callimus rod and reel to use at my lake here from watching your videos
Over 50
👍👍🐠🐋🎣👏
If you want to see WILD looking small fish , check out the seaweed. .😀
HIIIII
Leo have you ever had a bowl cut?
No. I don't really care about haircuts, though. Lol. I go in the barber shop and whatever happens happens! LOL.
Extreme Philly Fishing I’m in the same boat bro! But anyways thanks for inspiring me to get back into fishing it helps keep me sober and happy! You’re the man keep up the good work
Definitely spottail pinfish
Hey Leo, are you planning to do any fall trout fishing? Love the vids!
Yes! If I have time for it, of course. Heh.
