Nobody reads or listens...they didn't get dropped off "Survivor Style" with absolutely nothing. They are just testing some survival skills with simple hardware store items, just to see what works. ITs camping with some fun experiments to pass time.
Well understandably of course they brought what they needed to survive for a minute. That doesn't change the learning experience for the girls. If I was a part of the fam I would take everything mom and dad could teach me. Love your channel. Don't stop.
2:46 the song is from Caro Luna "Acapulco" hoy pienso en que paso, y como me afecto, las horas que pase en aquel bus, No entiendo bien por qué, mi abuelo distraído, se bajó sin mi yo segui segui segui segui, Acapulco no era un lugar, Para una niña de mi edad, con solo cuatro años enfrente la soledad, del bus te vi pasar y la calle caminar y a pesar del miedo que me dio, no pude ni llorar llorar llorar, era la niña perdida, el chico me pregunto, no había entendido que esa niña era yo era yo era yo, Después de seis horas encontré donde bajar, cruce la calle, di con el lugar, se abrió la puerta y todo mi mundo me abrazo me abrazo me abrazo. translation: Today I think in what happened, and how it affected me, the hours that passed on the bus, I don't understand why my distracted grandfather, got off without me, I kept going i kept going i kept going. You're on the right track with your distillation rig. You can drape cloth over that copper pipe and have them reach down into a bucket of water. Capillary action will draw water up and cool the pipe making the condenser work better. Or, you can get a coil of copper tube which you can sit into a small plastic container full of water. In the old moonshine days they would call this a worm. Lot of Home Brewer types use pressure cookers to avoid loss
A perfect fire starting tool that is light weight and will last forever and work with fire starting no matter what you use as your ignition source: Stainless Steel Straw. Never use aluminum pots on an open flame, it will start to melt. And the acids that come from the wood fire collect on the aluminum and start eating into the metal and also will eventually catch fire and speed up the melting process. Stainless Steel pots the best. Even a cheap small stainless pressure cooker would be even more ideal.
Great video! I especially enjoy the underwater footage. Just a heads-up, camping in a "dry wash" is not good practice. Just a little bit of rain will turn the campsite into a stream and everything gets washed away. Keep the videos coming! Thanks!!
Yup, camping in washes is generally not a great idea especially during the rainy season. There hasn’t been rain in that area of Baja for quite a few months. 😉
Hey survivors,oh💩,you do have a problem. If you haven't found a solution for the hole in your barrel ,try a medium flat rock,it will at least slow it down👍. What a beautiful clip of you spearing your dinner😍! Excellent🎉 JO JO IN VT 🇺🇲💞
I think you're supposed to cook catus before you eat it! (Maybe that's just the prickly pear) it causes severe diarrhea if not cooked first, from what I've read. 😮
No. The ones with needles forming a V are poisonous (like the one in the video), the others can give some effects but will not kill you. Their flesh is of no value, just the water in it.
Find a smooth stone at least as big as your 2 fists and put any bump right on the hole (inside the pot). The weight of the stone should keep it from moving off the hole. A small flat piece of plastic/rubber may help it seal. Be careful eating cactus, even just the juice. Some will make you sicker than you will want to handle. I was born and raised in the Desert Southwest of the US. That is what I was taught, and I never did anything more than put my tongue to the insides of various cactus for a taste. Now prickly pear fruits are supposed to be good. The only time I tried it I got one of those tiny stickers stuck in the back of my throat. I don't remember what it tasted like, but I remember that sticker. I was surprised when it came out a couple decades later as I thought it had rotted away.
I'm from Texas and I've noticed you & I use the word "hey" differently. Y'all use hey like we use "eh". We use hey like a greeting much like you would say "hi". I was kind of funny with those big fishes, like talking to myself shoot, shoot especially those parrot fish, those chubs. You having fun spearing those fishes and i missed that i grew-up doing.i picture myself spearfishing out there.
i don't know if anyone mentioned this, but i think you were supposed to let the distiller run for a bit before collecting the water into the bottle. to wash away any contaminants in the pipe/s. i think moonshiners throw away the first run because it is toxic. i enjoyed this episode.
Another great video , but Steve Irwin was attacked by a stingray , not a manta ray (as you showed) mantas are harmless filter feeders . Love your videos !!
Next winter you can take a long piece of copper tubing (the longer the better) fill it with water, and keep it outside the cabin to freeze overnight. Then while the water is still frozen inside the tube you can coil the tubing around a bucket (or whatever you have handy) and the frozen ice inside the copper tubing will keep the tubing from kinking up, collapsing, and breaking at the edges of the kink. Then allow the ice to thaw out and you have a perfectly coiled copper tube. The coil will make the distillation process more effective. I also suggest that you never cook with aluminum. The heat causes the aluminum to react and in turn the aluminum leaches into the food and/or the water. Aluminum has been studied and proven to be a major contributing factor in causing Alzheimer's disease and dementia later on in life. You especially don't want to wrap food in aluminum foil and throw it on a fire to cook. Something I'm sure we have all done at one time or another in our past. While I'm on the subject... It's also a good idea to stay away from deodorants that have aluminum in the ingredients. The deodorant company's claim they use aluminum to prevent wetness. Anyway... with that being said. I also suggest that you all have a great vacation. If this summer vacation in Mexico is anything at all like last summers vacation in Mexico I'm sure your loyal subscriber base is going to have a great time watching (and learning from) the video's that you post for our educational entertainment. Take care. sincerely, Dean O. :-I
This is excellent advice. I just learned of the dangers of aluminium (Turns out I had a bunch of aluminium pots). Gosh darnit. Even stainless steel leaches and isnt good for health. But yes there is a proven link with aluminium and the issues you list. :(:(:(
I really enjoy your "survival skills videos", they remind me of playing Army as a child in the woods of Wisconsin, minus the sunburn and hat of course...lol 😂😅 Id love to attend the campout, it sounds intriguing, but there is this little thing called retirement yet. 😅 Love ya'll ❤️
Aluminium gets crusty in hight temps, the more expencive the better quality. you can trow a empty can of beer on the fire and it pulverice to ashes. to make it efficient you need light steel with a copper bottom layer. the copper leads the heat faster and you need less energy to whatever you are boiling or cooking
You know, you can also put a tarp. Across a hole put dude roll around the tarp with the jugg underneath the center of it and a rock in the middle of the top and it leave it overnight. You'll have water in the jug tomorrow
What a fun adventure! Not sure why people always fillet fish. It's such a waste of meat. You get a ton more meat if you just empty out all the guts and cook the entire fish on a hot flat rock until the skin is crisp. Of course you have to be careful to pull out all the bones, but most will come out if you carefully pull the spine out and you'll end up eating ALL the meat as well as the very nutritious and tasty skin (fat, etc). There's also quite a bit of meat/edible parts in the head. Just sayin... 😉 Now I'm watching your distillation set up and wondering whether you're going to melt the lid of your water bottle...maybe consider resting that copper pipe on a stack of rocks slightly above the rim of your plastic water bottle? Nope! SO wonderful to see so many fish and sea creatures in the water there...beautiful!
You’re right, cooking the whole fish is the best way to get all the meat, but filleting is our favourite way. Very little meat wasted and much less work to pull out all the bones while you’re eating it. We definitely have cooked up the head in bigger fish to get the meat there also. Thanks for the message.
Have to say your pot must have had a hole in it to start with because if it had water in it the whole time over the heat there is no way it could burn a hole in pot because you can use a plastic bottle over fire and not melt it as long as there is water in it.
The hole doesn't have to be a burn thru. A chemical reaction could cause the hole. We could see the corrosion around the hole, so it already had a good start.
The song sounds great not a clue what it's about but it sounds good for the imaging I think Rose might have been more inappropriate requiring a squatty potty in layman's terms I need something right here😅
I'm pretty sure some people are coming up with their own definition of deserted. EMPTY OF PEOPLE. It's not that serious. You can find deserted towns throughout the US, whole dam neighborhoods that are full of things that could help in a survival scenario.
I think your aluminum pot failed because you combined two different metals and exposed them to seawater and accelerated the reaction with heat. Without the combined different metals, failure would not have occurred. I’m trying to remember how I learned this and coming up blank. I do remember that, like you, I learned it the hard way (likely jury rigging outdoor gear). I don’t know jack about chemistry or physics. However, I do know (or at least think) that you inadvertently built a battery.
After 20 years in the US Navy I can tell you all our ships have anodes welded to the hull (we call them zincs for some odd reason, they are not made of zinc). The difference between the metals causes almost all the corrosion to happen on the zincs, which are routinely replaced.
@jenesisjones6706 Unfortunately, I've had to do it. Lost in east African bush for 2 nights. It looked like I had small pocs from all the mosquitos and I had to kill a hyena because it was stalking me. I don't have video, but I would be willing to do it for your channel. Just drop me off with what I usually have in my pockets. My vape, a box cutter and wallet. You film and I will survive. Just pay for my plane ticket
He distilled the moisture out to make liquid water. The salt did not turn to a gas, the water turned to a gas. To turn the salt to a gas would require more chemistry than just adding heat if anyone could actually turn salt to a gas. If they only separated the chemicals that make up salt, then you would get Sodium (probably solid ?) and Chlorine (poison gas).

you need to add a couple of spoons of seawater to that liter of water... we do need some electrolytes...
Much easier with an ocean next to you then the way we learned to get water from the Mojave through evaporation!
That was fun
How did you clean the copper pipe before you used it?😮😮
You know, you can also put a tarp. Across a hole put dude roll around the tarp with the jugg underneath the center of it and a rock in the middle of the top and it leave it overnight. You'll have water in the jug tomorrow
I love your videos and the music is 👍 great
Next time, try putting a heavy rock on the boiling pot's lid to prevent steam from escaping.
Now you know, don't use aluminum for water distillation. It takes hours, and you need a heat source that doesn't run out.

You are all lucky to have survived because the plant you tasted is venomous; when the needles are forming a V shape: stay away.
A couple solar stills wouldn't hurt.
Have you tried the plastic with a hole in the middle with a rock, so nighttime moisture will fill a water bottle
We had a stainless steel pot like that and it too sprang a leak. Obviously not true stainless.
