    What a great sound and beautiful looking guitar. I love the magazine I get on my iPad. I'm on a army pension and all I have left is my guitars my dog. It's so good to get my magazine each issue. To be able to get a custom Gibson Les Paul especially this one.

    Hi, sorry for the lack of amp info - you'll be glad to know we are including shots of pedals/gear used from now on. It was the usual studio AC15 at low level for the chords, then about half way up for the lead stuff, with a Boss Super Overdrive to give me a bit of extra help!

      Thanks for that, was just wondering what amp was used. Nailed the sound

      250 I believe. 50 signed. 100 hand aged. 150 VOS. It is the only guitar I've seen which moves me to really "want." They look awesome.

    sounds a little like "Brothers in arms" intro. ~ very nice ~ Vox AC15 and Boss super overdrive produces that tone?

    • @richardbarrettguitar1228
      @richardbarrettguitar1228 7 лет назад +1

      Billy Garrison I tried to hint a bit at Brothers in Arms, ha ha! Yes, it was a Boss Super Overdrive into the normal channel, which was already set to break up (about 6, I think) This is played with a mix of fingers and pick too - I thought Knopfler fans would want to hear that 😊

    Please can you let us know what the amp and pedals/effects are? For me there's no real context to the guitar sound without this information. Fender Tweed Deluxe perhaps, however I can hear reverb/trem so maybe black/silver face.

      Agreed. If he's playing through a Roland Micro Cube with a Behringer distortion pedal, then that means the guitar is worth the money.

      Wayne van de Klee During a small combo amp shootout, I think they mentioned that they use an AC-15 for a lot of their demo videos, if not all.

    Who is that? Richard? Very tasty playing - and that's pretty much all the tone you could what you want from a vintage-inspired Les Paul.

    As a suggestion, it would be far more helpful if the reviewer gave details of the exact differences between this and another high-end LP Gibson; maybe an TH R8? Why exactly should we splash out an extra few grand on this? Simply sat there playing the thing doesn't really tell us anything. To all intents, this could be any top line LP. How does it play? How does it look in the flesh? What's the workmanship like? How does it feel?? Is it worth the extra money? For instance, look at the fretboard; it has absolutely zero resemblance to Knopfler's '58. In fact it looks like something Gibson would knock out on an entry level standard.

    Is it just improvised or are the notes relates to some special song pieces from Mark? I cant recognize them but they beautifully reflect his style. Some notes to replay would be awesome...

    • @richardbarrettguitar1228
      @richardbarrettguitar1228 7 лет назад +1

      Sascha Haupt Thanks for your kind words. It was pretty much improvised, though I was deliberately trying to 'channel' a Brothers In Arms vibe, without plagiarising, ha ha!

      Is there a chance to be getting some tabs 😇 id be pleased if i could play that as well. Unfortunately im too slow to get it visually from the vid nor im good enough to hear and tab the tones myself 🙁

  • @straitview74

    I LOVE Knopfler, and I love Gibson, but these (and any Les Paul worth playing really), are priced so as to be unattainable by most folks. I've played hundreds of Les Pauls that were just "ok". The money they ask for an instrument that struggles to stay in tune is almost criminal. I realize that most guitars need a setup. Lots of places will give you a free initial tweak, but when you take one off the wall, play it, and are kind of disappointed by its overall performance, should you flip it over and see a $4000 price tag? It sucks because I want so bad for it to be awesome but most times it just isn't.

    • @Panic42000
      @Panic42000 5 лет назад +1

      straitview74 What a stupid comment. I have owned many Les Pauls and I own this one. I’ve never had any issues with them staying in tune. Maybe you should learn how to tune your fuckin guitar. They are very attainable maybe you should get a better job. Just because you can’t afford one isn’t Gibson’s fault crybaby.

    • @aapddd
      @aapddd 5 лет назад

      @@Panic42000 no, he makes a valid point. Maybe you're lucky with good examples. I own a custom shop 58 les paul and build wise it's the best guitar I ever played and i'll never sell it. But it just won't stay in tune for longer than two songs. Nothing helps, we tried everything. Sadly some of my ( much cheaper ) guitars stay in tune just fine.
