Probably one of the most articulate guitarist of our time - both in his playing and his passionate explorations of what makes the guitar musical! Guy’s a treasure
Tom is one of the most underrated guitarists of our time. Fact. So many hundreds of millions of people have heard him play but they don't have a clue it's him. Easily belongs in ANY Top 100 guitar players of all-time list. Easily. You don't get to be THE 1st call session guy by being no good. Another part of that is the chill. Tom grooves with anyone and everyone. You can't be disliked and be a session player that's in demand. Doesn't matter if you're the best in your town. If you don't get along well with others, they won't EVER call you. I'd say that's probably almost as important as being able to play anything.
Its Saturday night special. 3 guitar players played it different. Got the barre chords and then open position. Pretty sure it was ed king who came up with that song
Ace Frehley from KISS used an Ovation Breadwinner on the first two albums and Fenders . I have never seen Ace in the studio with a Les Paul and the Les Paul he may have used on Kiss ALIVE ! Was a 1973 Tabacco Burst for the most part .Paul Stanley used a Tele ( huh ? ) on the Love Gun album . I have never heard of KISS using a 1958 Les Paul in the studio or live .
Uncle Larry plays, I cry of joy. a couple bars, no need for more. nobody plays like Tom Bukovac, period, I never saw him playing a wrong note, it is just hard to believe but is true.
He never "noodles" - whatever he plays it is always with a sense of rhythm and harmony - you can clearly hear the underlying chords even when he plays single melody lines. Genius
Awesome Unca Larry🎸《☆》Gary Rossingtons LesPaul Tone with SKYNYRD & RCB was Hot enough to melt your face😁🤳SKYNYRD At Knebworth"76"Live the song Searching was a perfect example🥩Of course Garys pinch harmonics in That Smell are Legendary as well🙏🏻RIP PRINCE CHARMING ROSSINGTON✌😎☮
While I realize this is a 58 Les Paul std (one of the holy grails of guitar tone), there is a big part of me that believes you could slap pickups onto a broom stick, hand it to Bukovac and the tone would be just as amazing. The guy has magic in his fingers-I don’t think he could produce a false note with a gun to his head
I wish the whole video had just been him saying “This is a ‘58 burst Les Paul standard” and then staring at the camera in silence for the rest of the video.
There are great guitarists, there are brilliant guitarists, there are genius guitarists and then there's Tom. 😎 2:51 You can go, go and have a bite, naa-aa-aagh, you'll still be hearing that one..."
@@ericdavidberkus2950 Yes, I hear what you mean- and thanks- I hadn’t listened to that song in years - great tune! Odd no guitar solo, but a piano interlude only. Would love to hear Bukovac solo on that!
you speak out of my soul. a friend of mine only played fenders and his first guitar was a crappy import hamer after this he hated all humbucker gibson esk guitars. and im a big gibson nerd i sayed if you play more dynamic and the amp is on break up u can make allmost everything and sound 10 times more alive and smooth. he laughed first after i played he buyed a es 335😂😂😂
I don’t know Uncle Larry personally, but what I do know of him is the obvious talent and depth of knowledge and experience he brings to his musical endeavors and that he’s not only one of the best guitar players but also one of the best people playing a guitar. I love his content. He is a great teacher and clearly has been a great student and has a passion for sharing his thoughts in an intimate setting that keeps his RUclips presence genuine and pure. A real gentle-man carrying the burden of celebrity very well.
I know it is trite, but I am a '58 vintage human being, I would love to have one of these beauties, made in the same year as my birth- but they go for silly money these days.
Someone please! Just make a documentary film about Tom. He deftly cuts through the bs both sonically and rhetorically. The dude is just a breath of effen fresh air! Thanks Uncle Larry. Good on ya.✌️🙏🎶
les paul is muddy you need wgs et65 or retro 30 speakers to get some clarity of this low mid focused guitar my personal experiene is that i like more sg flyingng v and strat guitars beacause the have more upper mids tha cut very good with every speaker i tried from wgs to scumback to celestion to ted weber speciali i like the g12h style speakers they have this jimi hendrix and kiss extra treble sizzle
"There's so much you can do with this setup,," Yes, and I'm still trying to figure out whatall you can do, but then you do so much with your fingers lots of us will be forever playing catchup. Like the big tomato said to the little tomato following behind, "Catch Up!" thanks, Tom.

YES well said !
he's become one of my all time favorite players ,easily
I'm sold! Let's all go out and get one!
😂😂
Some sort of burst share arrangement?
Tom Bukovac is the much assigned Guitar Legend that he is. Tom, you’re a true musical treasure…period.
Oh God. Stop.
You need to go out more. Or take a cold shower 🥲
So blessed to have breathed air with this man and spent time at blackbird 💙
That could of been 2 hours long and I'd watch every bit of it!
❤same and inside blackbird thank you❤.
Nothing but love for uncle Larry... Blackbird should bring him back to talk about guitar tone often... I’ll subscribe.
This man is a national treasure
What a stupid thing to say.
but he is not vegan..
Dude he didn’t cured cancer. Take it easy !
That riff starting at 3:30 says it all. Great guitar and one of the most versatile players on the planet. Nice one Tom!
I know right! What song is that riff from?
Most of that was Lynyrd Skynyrd, Saturday Night Special. Sweet ass tune!
Has a bit of For Those About to Rock sound to it too! Awesome guitar

That bend with the pinky finger!
Dude is untouchable! Taste and tone always!
So Very Cool, Thankyou. As a guitar enthusiast , I find Tom Bukovac as the most amazing person ever. Awesome. Cheers
An inspiring talented and hard working guitarist. Cheers
I stand to inherit my grandfathers 1958 Les Paul which is great. Love playing that thing when I visit.
As always superb playing, the touch and emotion are fantastic...but then there is of course the sound of an early Burst...like amplified gold.
Thank You Tom, you've perfectly articulated and explained what a good Les Paul should sound like.
Most excellent indeed.
The tone and precision of your bends is something to behold. Incredibly consistent.
good to see a guitar of this caliber got to a player of Toms caliber.hard wrk paying off
Doesn’t get much better than Buk!
Love it! Great project you’ve been making with your team!
Wow it gives me the chills! A fine Lp and there is no better.
Uncle Larry is the BEST! Even if anyone of us were playing that magic instrument, we would not sound like Buk!!!
My God what a tone. Uncle Larry slayed it. Really happy you came out with this wonderful series. It’s a gift for all times. 👍🏻👍🏻
Love you Tom!❤
The perfect tool in a master craftsman’s hands ❤️
Tom and that guitar were made for each other. Man it sounds so damn good. WOW, Thanks for the preview.

Ace obviously bought this guitar for its investment potential, not to play.
Wrong, google "frehley Burst". it was a 59.
He used it exclusively on his 78 solo Kiss album.
@@graemero5532 that’s a ‘59 not a ‘ 58
Uncle Larry plays, I cry of joy. a couple bars, no need for more. nobody plays like Tom Bukovac, period, I never saw him playing a wrong note, it is just hard to believe but is true.
Do that Tele and that Strat next!

He’s got “it” in spades…I agree totally.
What was the signal path, if you you'd be kind enough to share? Thanks!
I love this. My son found u on RUclips playing w Walsh and a six year old and wanted to play w u guys. Apple doesn’t fall far apparently.
this guy has magic fingers
The Starship Trooper!
Love my 57 Les Paul standard. Because of sound. Legendary. Love to see Eric Clapton play his Les Paul Custom again.
Uncle Larry killin it again!
little tommy owns that tone!
Uncle Larry is one of the greatest living guitarists! Duane Allman's tone on Live at the Fillmore East was perfect. That's all I have to say.
That les Paul looks amazing

Tom's great.
What song is he playing at the end ?

Dear blackbird , I want to ask you what amp do you use in this video (0:05~0:40), this sound is awesome, i want to get the same amp , thx.

What song was he playing at the very end or was he just riffing genius-like?
I don't know if that was his riff but he is definitely a riffing genius.
It is a slight variation on 'Ready For Love' by Bad Company.

Uncle Larry is the best out there.
I could have bought one of these from Tom Wittrock in 1986 for $13,000. I wish I would have had the money since they are worth a fortune now.
So very tasty playing
And the amp??? Fender, Marshall, ??
