How great is Peter Wolf? Saw him play a one-off at a tiny (for him) club in Ann Arbor, MI called The Ark about 8 years ago. He absolutely blew the roof off the place at 70-something years old.

I saw the Boston show, no idea what I was in for. It started out weird with Irsay talking to the crowd before the show but we could barely hear him and it took us a while to figure out that he was actually sitting onstage in an unlit corner. Between that and the heat and crowds around the exhibit that made it near impossible to see anything I was like "oh no, is this gonna be a shit show..." But then the lights went down and you guys kicked into "Lawyers, Guns, and Money" and blew the doors off the joint. Multi-million dollar production with killer lighting and sound, one of the best shows I've seen and definitely the best FREE show I've ever seen. 😄 It was like a dream, come on down to the Garden, sit wherever you want, and watch some of the best musicians on the planet throw a party.🤘

Just watching Uncle Larry's playing is so satisfying. Just so incredibly accurate, tasteful and effortless. As a guitarist, I take my hat off to you. As the old phrase goes, we may not be able to reach the stars (and Uncle Larry is definitely one), but we can use them to guide our path.

This inspired me to throw the 1971 J. Geils classic “The Morning After” on the turntable. I forgot how good that album is. “Cry One More Time” is a genius piece of songwriting.
I could watch this sound check stuff all day long! It’s so damn cool to understand how much goes into a production like a concert. Man, it takes me back to my photography days & friends’ bands & rollin to random shows with them to shoot for them. Not like for promos, though I did that, too, but to be sure they had record of that time in their lives (& mine)! Seems so long ago, but it never is far from my memory. Best times EVER!
