when you look at the gear they had to work with and hear what they created in those studios back then to me it looks like a bona fide miracle. having to do all that work physically and manually with all real equipment not software. mic's sound rooms tape. the world wouldn't be the same without you the modern age has only copied the things you invented. yes prince was great but without the studio and the people in it no one would know who prince is.

If you are playing all the instruments and have the song finished on your mind.. for a talented musician is not that big of a deal. Back in a day that was normal. Not saying Prince is not out of the curve, but back in a day people actually would put time mentalizing and practicing

Prince was to musicianship what Michael was to dancing. You could be the best session player for hire on a particular instrument and Prince still plays that instrument better than you. You're just an additional set of hands because Prince only has two.

Bro kick and bass are differnt they have different frequncy range u cant produce bass from a kick drum U play different style its ok but please know the difference between a crash and cymbal ....they have different kind of attack they need to be hit harder for their specific sound ....splash 😅 chimes n bells we'll just ignore them for now 😅

Agree 110% ... Crashing occasionally ok, but Cymbals can be heard quite easily, no reason to smash everything constantly

So cool to hear someone want to keep the imperfections, that is truly what makes great music. I am a drummer and cannot stand when someone wants to move anything I played. I will never lie, to save time and money you can do a minor adjustment here and there,, but never change the groove of the piece when you got swing! A minor mistake or imperfection can make a song what it is! That's my OG feeling LOL!

This is a great studio 4 sure, we recorded some demos in 2010 in studio D, I need to go back. (If y'all need a solid drummer, call me! LOL) It's truly cool watching and listening to John and his passion for sound. I remember leaving a CD of one of my songs for Martina, it was a long shot but John kept in touch and said they like the song but it was not a fit. i can only BEGIN to understand Prince's mentality, in current-day, with modern equipment and tech... this dude was doing it ON TAPE, where you have to PHYSICALLY Cut and Paste parts together (or get it Perfect first-try)...i think the pure tedium of it all would make me wanna quit...
