    I left a link for the radiator in the description. I also mentioned I paid $240 on eBay and this was about 2 months ago. I just looked and it's at $280 now, not sure why the price increase, maybe because the summer months sparked more sales. It's even more expensive on the Yonaka website.
    Let me know how you guys feel about the review of the radiator!
    And don't forget to leave a comment if you want to win one of the two items I'm giving away!!

    I have lost count of how many times you have come to my rescue with a vid like this, Jon. OMG. I just happened to have changed my EF's rad for a Valeo unit (which was cheap, but guess what: too damned short!) and it's not long enough to reach the OEM rad stay on one side. Again, this is just what the doctor ordered!

    I have the Mishimoto dual core on my ef and ended up running a second fan behind the front bumper facing the opposite direction. I think it’s funny that they make this shroud kit because there is NO WAY that second fan is gonna fit in front of the engine- unless maybe you’re using a stock exhaust manifold on a d series with no AC.

    Nice info! I like the diy and the direct test and results. I first thought maybe you can countersink the fans directly on the radiator and mount the shroud right over the top and have the back of the fans through the holes, might work. I like the factory fan mounts up.

    Wow cool video jon and when first messages you about my sedan and the rebuild I also cam e across this exact radiator on amazon and felt it was a great deal ....I would still love to install one but now have concerns of fit....in my vehicle I already have the OEM replacement koyo radiator its only a few years old considered a fresh install still ....so yup like this radiator set up for more cooling on hotter days I figured it would help reduce high temps on long commutes desert heat isn't very kind in that sense ...lol after watching the video I may have to double think my purchase due to figment.... And ooooh yea would love the hat my options auto salon kinda shabby ....aka faded due to sun damage and washing ...anyways loved the racing clip awesome sounding motor shifting almost like scca with real time team acura at Laguna secca in Monterey California

    I've got the mishimoto full size in my CD. The car will NOT warm up. I run the mountains regularly, and have yet to have an issue.
    In the winter I have to put a piece of cardboard in front of the mishimoto to get any semblance of a heater, even while running the mountain roads. Best money I've spent yet.

    • @GarageBuiltHondas
      @GarageBuiltHondas  6 лет назад +1

      Thanks for the input! I had thought about the mishimoto but this price was great, too bad it didn't pan out completely. I'm still happy with the radiator though!

      The yonaka looks good, as long as it's performance is up to par, it seems like a winner. I too have only 1 fan. The fitment of the Mishimoto is perfect, perhaps next time you'll snag one if the price is right

    only at 1:04 right now but that the exact reason why i went with the half rad that they sell with the fan shroud for the 96-00 civics because i knew it wouldnt fit in the crx with the b20. I can how ever say that the their half rad they they sell for the 96-00 puts in work like a champ i beat on my car on a daily basis sometime going all the was to 115 on the highway and being stuck in traffic as well. The car never goes above the the half way mark on on the temp gauge.

    • @DashnCars
      @DashnCars 6 лет назад

      Yup! That's the one. I'm hoping it'll free up a little room in the engine bay for that eventual turbo.

    • @GarageBuiltHondas
      @GarageBuiltHondas  6 лет назад +1

      It definitely will. A friend had one here a few years back and it looked great. He wanted it for that clean bay look but didn't have any issues. I've read that it can be a pain to bleed sometimes but other than that it works well for cooling.

    • @ronniecason9807
      @ronniecason9807 6 лет назад +1

      those fans put out a lot of cfm so im sure one fan with the shroud would be just fine

    • @GarageBuiltHondas
      @GarageBuiltHondas  6 лет назад +1

      Absolutely. I wanted to just try it with my stock fan. As Ronnie said the cfm is usually better with the slim fans but I thought it'd be nice to try the OEM fan in the heat.

  • @ryandarby3460

    hey thanks for the content on this video. Quick question about the dual fan...I notice they are wired together. Did it come wired together like that or were they spliced together? If they were spliced together could they just essentially be plug in to the plug that the single fan was connected to? We have an EF with stock motor and we are installing this radiator but the fans aren't wire together. Didn't known if I could just splice them together and plug and play or if I needed to do something different.

    very good video, I would like to see you make a comparison of the yonoka and Skunk2.
    performance and quality.

    • @GarageBuiltHondas
      @GarageBuiltHondas  6 лет назад

      After using both, I've had no issues. My only complaint with the Skunk2 is that it won't clear the hood on many occasions. I believe Skunk2 website even says this if I remember correctly and that goes for both the full and half sizes.

  • @kacasio1
    @kacasio1 6 лет назад

    You need a bench vice. Hahaha I had a giggle when you bent the flat stock on the speaker.
    Btw I'm including myself! I'm yet to buy a vice. Or have a decent work bench. I will eventually build a small one, eventually.....
    Btw where did you get the rubber grommets? And why not super slim fabs on the shroud?

    • @GarageBuiltHondas
      @GarageBuiltHondas  6 лет назад

      I seriously do, but it's going to have to wait until the beginning of the next year!
      I got the grommets at Lowe's. They have many sizes. I'll probably trim the rad brackets eventually. I just wanted to make sure they were working well. I might make some out of steel instead so there isn't any flexing at all.

    Hey John quick question , i see you have the skunk2 half size in your si with b16 . If i were to install same radiator in my stock 91 dx hatch how does one keep ac functional with the loss of space for ac fan ?

  • @ghostboy4091
    @ghostboy4091 5 лет назад

    Would you recommend this for my wagon? It's a stock single cam but I plan on doing an ls/vtec build in the future. I would like to keep ac since I'll most likely be moving to Arizona.

    • @GarageBuiltHondas
      @GarageBuiltHondas  5 лет назад +1

      I'd recommend a half size aluminum radiator with a B swap. It's really tight with AC installed and you'd be able to stick the condenser fan right onto the condescending itself instead of the radiator and that would help keep the AC functioning better especially in that heat.

    • @ghostboy4091
      @ghostboy4091 5 лет назад +1

I'm lucky to even have a track close to me. I've learned a lot driving there and absolute have the most fun I've ever had in my EF'S there. • @GarageBuiltHondas
      @GarageBuiltHondas  6 лет назад

      I've only ever read about people having clearance issues with the full size, unfortunately haven't came across a local EF guy using it. If you're running that K, you may want to consider the VW golf/Cabrio radiator and tuck it under the T-Bar. Google that radiator in an EF. There are some really good links still remaining showing it.

      Radiator cap? Some people overlook that. My buddy had an eg and the cap ended up being the problem for his overheating and overflow container bubbling over.

      I had a GSR that overheated years ago. Changed everything coolant related and still overheated.. Finally it was diagnosed as a head gasket.

  • @davisaguilar4565

    You tried to put the radiator fans on the opposite side, I mean the front, inside the T bar?
    Then just change the polarity and you're done

    • @GarageBuiltHondas
      @GarageBuiltHondas  6 лет назад +1

      I can without the shroud, but the flow isn't as great and since it can be so hot here during the summer events, I want as much flow as possible as to not overheat/blow my engine.

    • @davisaguilar4565
      @davisaguilar4565 6 лет назад

      Garage Built Hondas I thought that installing the opposite side fans would have better air flow, I've seen many cars like that

    • @GarageBuiltHondas
      @GarageBuiltHondas  6 лет назад +1

      It's worse because the air has to fight through the *fins* of the radiator instead which slows down the cfm a little bit. I like that look for a clean bay, but since I drive this car hard repeatedly, I don't want to take any chances.

    Can those fans be flipped to push instead of pull?

    • @GarageBuiltHondas
      @GarageBuiltHondas  6 лет назад

      Yes, you just need to reverse to polarity on the clips.

      @EdwardFeenman 6 лет назад

      I don't do that on my track car because it's pushed harder than any street car is ever pushed. I need as much airflow as possible.
