Is it possible for the current Blizz dev team to earn back your trust? Careful with that answer, because the #nochanges mantra depends on you mistrusting them. Holding them at arm's length, berating them online, etc... I'll submit that Vanilla itself wasn't perfect, it's just the best WoW there has been so far. If you come to trust them again, then we could have little broken things fixed, and still have the Spirit of Vanilla intact. Step out of the OP Warrior role that will be 90% of tanks if we get Museum Classic. When there are 3 tank specs, doesn't that stat define broken? Broken specs is not what made Vanilla great, it was great in spite of that. There is still a chance for Classic to be even better than it was before. If they can do that, then they can also not break and trivialize the Vanilla content when TBC and Wrath drop. They will have experience in tuning numbers (as in, tuning down) Wrath content so that it doesn't destroy the Vanilla content. Nerf, or even not have the dungeon finder, etc. There is so much they could possibly do with the benefit of hindsight...

I kind of think that the Live team would probably want to do some things differently, but they can't because it's not financially optimal. But since we can't really confirm that it's just a conspiracy theory with little evidence.
This weekend retail wow is free and I'm not even interested since quitting BFA. The Blizzard team that's responsive to the concerns of its target audience is a wonderful thing.

Perhaps, they could be trying to secure a huge future of revenue, if Classic is well taken then they can work on TBC knowing people will happily continue on, ect ect. By having a good first impression they can get a ton of good publicity and lots of attention for making something that they have all the stuff already there for, like all the models, voices, animations, items ect are still there so creating WoW classic ++ is a steady, reliable and cheap venture.

Meanwhile, the retail team bans 1000 players for using an experience boost exploit so they could level alts faster. The difference between the classic devs and the retail devs is night and day. It's surreal honestly.
I'm not sure what's so hard with this team about the concept of absolutely no changes. They would not need to backtrack if they kept to these things. This is not the time to be OK with a compromise in my opinion. This is the time to dig our heels in and say no to things. If we set a precedent for compromise then once they propose QoL changes in the future I feel like a past history of compromise will be used to nickle-and-dime us into things we never wanted like cash shops.
This is the equivalent of being excited because the IRS decided to only charge you $5000 instead of $25000. You're still losing 5k. This is not something to be happy about. Loot trading is going to result in a bunch of people rolling for gear they don't need just so they can funnel it to their friends. These QoL changes are the reason why we are demanding for classic wow in the first place.

Thx for these wonderful news =) i don't really find trading raid loot between guildies as any problem as it should just happen if/when a raidleader missclicks an item to someone who should not get it, happened a few times when i raided with my guild, and a GM had to move it from 1 character to the other when it did happen, we were never denied actually, so for me it will be just like it was in classic except no actual GM will be involved.
It's so good to see them listening. I sincerely hope they make at least one RP-PvP server AT LAUNCH. I am not even kidding when I say I'd sell a kidney for this. Possibly both kidneys.
No surprise there since they said at the start that they would be using the nerfed version of raids/instances with the 2.12 patch so of course, it would be 2.12 av.
Blizzard should also implement that you can't change group loot rules during an instance. A pug should know the loot rules for the last boss before they kill the first boss.
Wow. The dev team working on classic seems to be a lot more oriented towards a good play experience than retail, which I only played for a few weeks (and only at the request of a friend - who also ended up quitting).
It seems to me that loot trading was added to reduce the GM load in handling mis-looted items. There was a point where Blizzard stopped allowing tickets for mis-traded loot (vague memory). In the original game the GMs did help people move loot to the right place if requested... but with millions of players I can see that becoming a non-starter. I guess this compromise is ok. Dungeons are often PUGged and ripe for abuse. When a RAID is pugged, its usually just to fill a few remaining empty slots and the rules are laid out to the participants at the start. -Matt
I suppose you could make some backroom deals with fellow guildies/puggers to sell gear that you get behind the loot masters back. However that's hardly an issue I can see becoming a problem.

They could do: 5-MAN: if someone tried to trade an item, a ready-check-like popup should tell that XX wants to trade YY to ZZ, approve? and all other 4 must accept it (if fails, an 5 min debuff preventr retry). RAID: 90% of the players must approve, if fails then the player should get a debuff for 5min+declinedplayers*min (like a BG deserter debuff) to prevent retry-spam...
This is literally right in the book on manipulating others. Ask a favor that's absurd and then ask a much lesser favor and it'll seem more reasonable. It's still 100% bullshit.

What we’re seeing with the WoW classic team is the EXACT same thing we saw with the Oldschool Runescape Team. A community driven, community listened to leadership team. Oldschool became mountains more successful than Runescape 3. If this continues we could see a huge shift in which “wow” version will have the most players.

Classic is not going to save this sinking WoW ship. People will quickly get tired of classic and start asking for all the things current WoW has. And I think those rose colored glasses about classic are especially rosey. WoW was great then because it was one of a kind. There are literally dozens of good MMORPG games now. And that whole sense of exploration will be gone. We have already seen everything in classic. I for one will not be buying classic, and I have unsubbed from BfA. Blizzard's only real hope is to fix the current Wow. They can only do that by removing Ion Hazzikostas. He is a lawyer and hard core raider. He should not be designing anything in WoW. He needs to be fired. His first encounter design was the Faction Champions in the Ice Crown raid. That's all that needs to be said about how bad that guy is for WoW. As long as he is running things for WoW, it will be shit fest.
Nah, i think classic will end up with a pretty decent amount of players playing it on regular basis. The game is so time consuming and full of content that casual players like myself will spend alooooot of time playing before even reaching endgame content such as AQ40 and Naxx :)
This is still going to be abused when theres a few pugs in the raid which in 40 man raids will be often. People will roll on it and say they need it or use it for off spec and then just trade it to their guildie and possibly denying the loot to the pug which is unfair. The second way this is going to be abused and i can't believe no one is really talking about it is, selling gear for gold. Lets say you get an upgrade but it's a small upgrade for you but for another person in the raid, it's a big upgrade, they may/will whisper you and ask to buy it off you for "X" amount of gold. Trading a small upgrade item for 1000gold will be worth it cause you can go buy other goodies you may need where as this person who buys gold/gets funnelled gold and just wants the best gear possible will always have the option to buy gear off people. This also means for popular youtubers/streamers, they will sometimes get traded the item for free just cause there a fan and want attention which is going to funnel these people which is shit because if your not one of these people, it just feels unfair. I know loot funneling can happen to a degree without loot trading but it was a lot less often and is extreamly frowned upon and would have to be out in the open. With this you can do everything in private whispers and no one will know the difference. One of the great things about Classic was that it felt fair. This is going to be abused in nearly every single raid where this solution is to suppose to be for "Accidental" masterloot misclicks which BARELY ever happened, maybe 1in1000. I raided Classic all the way through live and it's never happened to me so something thats going to be abused daily to stop a problem that happens maybe once a year is ridiclous to me.

All this means is now only raiders who don't know how to manage loot will be able to access this (no raid worth its salt will need this), and any misclicks or accidental loots for the other 99% of the population (where the issue was actually happening) spending time in 5 mans will be written off as "ninjas" and will have no recourse. Somehow you've managed to force the dev team to put more value on how 5 man loot is handled over raid loot.
The loot collision in small groups issue - yes it would suck to be on the receiving end, however the hit to guild reputation on the server would not be worth the hassle to screw people out of 5 man loot. Guild and player reputation will mean something again. No more anonymous instant group, you screw someone day 1 and by day 3 you can't get into groups anymore. Can't wait
I feel like it's fair this way. It was a big pain in the ass during raids to have the master looter accidentally loot a bis to the wrong person, especially when competing in progression raiding. I don't see this making/breaking progression raiding. If anything might help to minimize drama/execuses.
As someone who has ran and been the master looter for raid guilds on private servers, trust me you want it in. Mistakes happen more than you think on loot and can be an issue. As for raid pugs just don't raid with people with bad server rep or join a guild which if you don't like that well tough as that is vanilla and not the current sudo-solo facebook the game was turned into. The draw of classic is the community with more of a small town feel where you have to treat others with a little more respect because if you don't the server will identify you as a shitter and ostracize you.
How about just using the current 5-man personal loot system? Everyone gets a X% chance of receiving a piece of loot then decides what to do with it, no need/greed grievance rolls.

na they wont. as they already said sharding only in starting zones on release. because theres no other realistic way of launching the classic servers without it. back in 2004 the game launched with around 500000 players. after worldwide launch it had around 1.5 Million. im estimting Classic will have the same or even more players on its worldwide launch day. and with no NPC sharing you wont be able to do quests at all. So sharding is the only fisable solution to the problem.

I think that it is great they decided to keep this with this compromise because the reason why they decided to implement this in retail in the first place is because of all the looting issues that were in the past... I think this is something that is worth having in classic.

Blizz is listening because WoW Classic will boost retail numbers by default, since you need to be subbed to retail WoW to play Classic. Either way, I'm happy and plan to play retail during the week because it's casual and I work now and play Classic on my days off/weekends. I also plan to gain 20 pounds lol...
If I didn't know better I'd swear Classic was being built by an indie company and not Acti-Blizzard. If NOTHING else it shows the classic team is actually listening. My excitement continues to build.

I think Blizzard has really felt the loss of its fans and their wallets. Overwatch has been pretty dead in the water, that Diablo mobile game was purged upon first glance, and Bfa has supposedly lost most of its resubscriptions already. At this point they are aware they are on a sinking ship and MUST return to their roots and care for the diehard fans. We're the only ones going to save their ship and they know it. Its not a bad thing, just hopefully something they remember going forth and stay true to.
me and my brother play a mage, in a guild with DKP, now I can buy items and give to him if he doesnt have enough DKP (a way to cause some shit, but will be up to guilds to stop this i guess by giving - DKP if an item gets traded)

Good news everyone, mark kern spilt his tea onto his surge protector, creating a miniature black hole that contained a micro universe. This micro universe contained a wow dev team that listens to the players. Somehow this team seems to have slipped into the macro universe allowing the classic server to actually take feedback. Of course the mass paradox reaction from the introduction of new matter will greatly accelerate the great crunch collapsing our universe in a mere 10 years. But it’ll be a sweet ride up to that point.
Though I like this feature, this gonna make dkp auction a mess, will the traded person be deducted same amount of dkp as person who won it in first place, or only 2nd place in auction can be traded

My uncle was Male Undead Priest Daywalker from the guild Broken. He was the best priest on the server IIRC! He moved to KulTiras Alliance for TBC and quit later in the xpac. Me and my buddies took that free move to black dragonflight I believe, then zuluhed. Horrible decisions. I ended up back on shadowsong for most of my remaining wow years. But currently I'm on kilrogg/winterhoof though I haven't subbed since early BFA. The only name from vanilla I remember is Nkrypt, Male Orc Rogue from my guild. I don't even remember my guild name lol Lemme know if any of these sound familiar! Edit: oh yeah my friend Bigbuffguy remembered our guild name, Tears of Mercy

If you are not in a guild by level 55 or 60, you are not playing the game for gear. Or you are a blacklisted ninja looter. I never understood master loot, if you have a dkp system when you win a need roll you just subtract dkp from their total. If you grief your own guild you will not progress..(you got 1 epic congrats /gkick)
When you want to bail out of your guild and your next guild does not have any respect for other guilds they might not care if you ninja domo chest. *cough* dogz *cough*

You can just changed the group to raid for baron undead horse mount run if you have a pug then sell or trade to a guildy.

Wow. The dev team working on classic seems to be a lot more oriented towards a good play experience than retail, which I only played for a few weeks (and only at the request of a friend - who also ended up quitting).
It seems to me that loot trading was added to reduce the GM load in handling mis-looted items. There was a point where Blizzard stopped allowing tickets for mis-traded loot (vague memory). In the original game the GMs did help people move loot to the right place if requested... but with millions of players I can see that becoming a non-starter.
I guess this compromise is ok. Dungeons are often PUGged and ripe for abuse. When a RAID is pugged, its usually just to fill a few remaining empty slots and the rules are laid out to the participants at the start.

I suppose you could make some backroom deals with fellow guildies/puggers to sell gear that you get behind the loot masters back. However that's hardly an issue I can see becoming a problem.

They could do: 5-MAN: if someone tried to trade an item, a ready-check-like popup should tell that XX wants to trade YY to ZZ, approve? and all other 4 must accept it (if fails, an 5 min debuff preventr retry). RAID: 90% of the players must approve, if fails then the player should get a debuff for 5min+declinedplayers*min (like a BG deserter debuff) to prevent retry-spam...

This is literally right in the book on manipulating others. Ask a favor that's absurd and then ask a much lesser favor and it'll seem more reasonable. It's still 100% bullshit.

What we’re seeing with the WoW classic team is the EXACT same thing we saw with the Oldschool Runescape Team. A community driven, community listened to leadership team. Oldschool became mountains more successful than Runescape 3. If this continues we could see a huge shift in which “wow” version will have the most players.
Still doesn’t stop the loot funnel. Guys will have full Lawbringer set after only 3 weeks of MC coming out. Say fucking goodbye to Rank 14 or maybe even 10 unless you are part of only a few elite PvP guilds. Shit’s dumb
Classic is not going to save this sinking WoW ship. People will quickly get tired of classic and start asking for all the things current WoW has. And I think those rose colored glasses about classic are especially rosey. WoW was great then because it was one of a kind. There are literally dozens of good MMORPG games now. And that whole sense of exploration will be gone. We have already seen everything in classic. I for one will not be buying classic, and I have unsubbed from BfA. Blizzard's only real hope is to fix the current Wow. They can only do that by removing Ion Hazzikostas. He is a lawyer and hard core raider. He should not be designing anything in WoW. He needs to be fired. His first encounter design was the Faction Champions in the Ice Crown raid. That's all that needs to be said about how bad that guy is for WoW. As long as he is running things for WoW, it will be shit fest.
Nah, i think classic will end up with a pretty decent amount of players playing it on regular basis. The game is so time consuming and full of content that casual players like myself will spend alooooot of time playing before even reaching endgame content such as AQ40 and Naxx :)
This is still going to be abused when theres a few pugs in the raid which in 40 man raids will be often. People will roll on it and say they need it or use it for off spec and then just trade it to their guildie and possibly denying the loot to the pug which is unfair.
The second way this is going to be abused and i can't believe no one is really talking about it is, selling gear for gold. Lets say you get an upgrade but it's a small upgrade for you but for another person in the raid, it's a big upgrade, they may/will whisper you and ask to buy it off you for "X" amount of gold. Trading a small upgrade item for 1000gold will be worth it cause you can go buy other goodies you may need where as this person who buys gold/gets funnelled gold and just wants the best gear possible will always have the option to buy gear off people. This also means for popular youtubers/streamers, they will sometimes get traded the item for free just cause there a fan and want attention which is going to funnel these people which is shit because if your not one of these people, it just feels unfair. I know loot funneling can happen to a degree without loot trading but it was a lot less often and is extreamly frowned upon and would have to be out in the open. With this you can do everything in private whispers and no one will know the difference.
One of the great things about Classic was that it felt fair. This is going to be abused in nearly every single raid where this solution is to suppose to be for "Accidental" masterloot misclicks which BARELY ever happened, maybe 1in1000. I raided Classic all the way through live and it's never happened to me so something thats going to be abused daily to stop a problem that happens maybe once a year is ridiclous to me.
5:50 lol you people actually think this will stop "ninja" whine posts. All this means is now only raiders who don't know how to manage loot will be able to access this (no raid worth its salt will need this), and any misclicks or accidental loots for the other 99% of the population (where the issue was actually happening) spending time in 5 mans will be written off as "ninjas" and will have no recourse. Somehow you've managed to force the dev team to put more value on how 5 man loot is handled over raid loot.
The loot collision in small groups issue - yes it would suck to be on the receiving end, however the hit to guild reputation on the server would not be worth the hassle to screw people out of 5 man loot.
Guild and player reputation will mean something again. No more anonymous instant group, you screw someone day 1 and by day 3 you can't get into groups anymore. Can't wait
I feel like it's fair this way. It was a big pain in the ass during raids to have the master looter accidentally loot a bis to the wrong person, especially when competing in progression raiding. I don't see this making/breaking progression raiding. If anything might help to minimize drama/execuses.
As someone who has ran and been the master looter for raid guilds on private servers, trust me you want it in. Mistakes happen more than you think on loot and can be an issue. As for raid pugs just don't raid with people with bad server rep or join a guild which if you don't like that well tough as that is vanilla and not the current sudo-solo facebook the game was turned into. The draw of classic is the community with more of a small town feel where you have to treat others with a little more respect because if you don't the server will identify you as a shitter and ostracize you.
How about just using the current 5-man personal loot system? Everyone gets a X% chance of receiving a piece of loot then decides what to do with it, no need/greed grievance rolls.

na they wont. as they already said sharding only in starting zones on release. because theres no other realistic way of launching the classic servers without it. back in 2004 the game launched with around 500000 players. after worldwide launch it had around 1.5 Million. im estimting Classic will have the same or even more players on its worldwide launch day. and with no NPC sharing you wont be able to do quests at all. So sharding is the only fisable solution to the problem.

I think that it is great they decided to keep this with this compromise because the reason why they decided to implement this in retail in the first place is because of all the looting issues that were in the past... I think this is something that is worth having in classic.

Yeah, then you also have to listen to beggars whispering you to give them your loot, and telling you how much more beneficial it is to them for two hours.
Solution: in raids when using master loot the item can only be traded back to the raid leader, who can then give it out to the correct person

It’s great news!! but as a community we need to keep pressuring blizzard to make everything right. We need to EXPRESS GRATITUDE! but also keep reminding them what we want, don’t just accept what they say.
Blizz is listening because WoW Classic will boost retail numbers by default, since you need to be subbed to retail WoW to play Classic. Either way, I'm happy and plan to play retail during the week because it's casual and I work now and play Classic on my days off/weekends. I also plan to gain 20 pounds lol...
If I didn't know better I'd swear Classic was being built by an indie company and not Acti-Blizzard. If NOTHING else it shows the classic team is actually listening. My excitement continues to build.
OR. They could just do what the did for later expacs prior to making everything Forced Personal, and make it so Plate-wearers can't roll Need on Coth/Leather/Mail for their friends at all. That could also work .-.
I think loottrading in raids is totally fine. In 95% you'll be there with your guild anyway. Btw. I think the whole effect of this post is a bit sad: "Woooow a developer listens to the communtiy! So unusual!"
I think Blizzard has really felt the loss of its fans and their wallets. Overwatch has been pretty dead in the water, that Diablo mobile game was purged upon first glance, and Bfa has supposedly lost most of its resubscriptions already. At this point they are aware they are on a sinking ship and MUST return to their roots and care for the diehard fans. We're the only ones going to save their ship and they know it. Its not a bad thing, just hopefully something they remember going forth and stay true to.
me and my brother play a mage, in a guild with DKP, now I can buy items and give to him if he doesnt have enough DKP (a way to cause some shit, but will be up to guilds to stop this i guess by giving - DKP if an item gets traded)

Good news everyone, mark kern spilt his tea onto his surge protector, creating a miniature black hole that contained a micro universe. This micro universe contained a wow dev team that listens to the players. Somehow this team seems to have slipped into the macro universe allowing the classic server to actually take feedback. Of course the mass paradox reaction from the introduction of new matter will greatly accelerate the great crunch collapsing our universe in a mere 10 years. But it’ll be a sweet ride up to that point.
Though I like this feature, this gonna make dkp auction a mess, will the traded person be deducted same amount of dkp as person who won it in first place, or only 2nd place in auction can be traded

Whoa Tips. I played Shadowsong horde back in the day... Male Troll Rogue Wallah. My best friend was Male Tauren Warrior Bigbuffguy, we raided MC together. My uncle was Male Undead Priest Daywalker from the guild Broken. He was the best priest on the server IIRC! He moved to KulTiras Alliance for TBC and quit later in the xpac. Me and my buddies took that free move to black dragonflight I believe, then zuluhed. Horrible decisions. I ended up back on shadowsong for most of my remaining wow years. But currently I'm on kilrogg/winterhoof though I haven't subbed since early BFA.
The only name from vanilla I remember is Nkrypt, Male Orc Rogue from my guild. I don't even remember my guild name lol

Great that you wanted to make a video on rp servers. We need the voice of RUclipsrs like you. It would be a big disappointment if there actually are no RpPvP servers at launch. A lot of people have already planned to roll on RpPvP servers and now those communities are about to collapse. Looking forward to the video.

It's literally impossible to get classic to classic like it was with the bugs glitches etc that many want in the game. Nostalrius was not even close to classic.
They are really ramping up updates. This is a good change though.
This is good blizzard actually listening on certain topics. However the biggest topic.Microtransactions well only time will time. I seriously doubt they will ever mention that until either they are in game or about to get into game unless they are not. We just dont no atm.

If you are not in a guild by level 55 or 60, you are not playing the game for gear. Or you are a blacklisted ninja looter.
I never understood master loot, if you have a dkp system when you win a need roll you just subtract dkp from their total. If you grief your own guild you will not progress..(you got 1 epic congrats /gkick)
When you want to bail out of your guild and your next guild does not have any respect for other guilds they might not care if you ninja domo chest.
