Didn't take them that long for a Destiny Impulse. Maybe they'd make the R version, alongside the druggie silhouettes before getting to the Blast. I hope not
The quality of this kit in terms of design and tolerances is actually flawless. Every kit since this has its niggles, but I can’t fault anything on this one, so when I say it’s possibly the ‘best’ RG Bandai has made so far despite me absolutely loathing the Impulse and its pilot, you can take it as a glowing recommendation. Just have a ziploc for all the stuff that comes with. The qualifier is of course that it has no flaws. The Zeong, God Gundam and Hi-Nu offer their own superior experiences in different ways.
And this has nailed the mechanics and experience of the docking mechanic. The only way they can improve it majorly is to have color-changing plastics, however far along we are to inventing the tech for that
@@mj2005gundam Haha, that WOULD be nice. I had the chance to get the PB Sword Impulse but didn't buy it at the time, it's so much better looking in red without those annoying baby blue parts. Spot on with the assembly, compared to the GP01 FB this is worlds apart, it's mindblowing how far and how fast Bandai evolves their production.
I had my doubts on how they'll implement Force Impulse in RG form, but once I got mine, I was blown away. It's now one of my fave RG kits. The connection of the Chest Flyer and Leg Flyer was surprisingly sturdy, and I loved how everything gets locked in.
I personally just didn't care initially, and I was skeptical about the docking system when I built it. However, unlike previous examples, everything is solid, everything locks together nicely, and they work as closely to the anime depiction as possible. Fun and addicting for my brain
make sure you sand the hand ball joints before inserting into the wrist or else the white wrist piece will 100% crack over time due to uneven pressure.
This RG was the 3rd kit and first RG after returning to the hobby after many years. It totally got me further hooked and I panel lined the crap out of it. But it's been dropped so many times trying to get it into the pose in Destiny with the HG Infinite Justice getting ready to kick its arm off.
@@mj2005gundam I'm regretting my decision not to buy the 3rd party steel v fin. The v fin of this kit is so tiny that a mistake when cutting off the runner break the right side of the v fin into several pieces 🥲
I broke the antenas on my RG Impules while building it. And that's when I started to regret my purchase...It was VERY thin! But it is a very good looking kit. Minus the delicate antennas.
Even with a solid structure, this kit can still have problem standing on its own with the Force Silhouette on, and I totally blame it on C.E. era's design philosophy for forcing heavy backpacks on slender legs. After fiddling with this kit a bit, I accidentally broke its knee and had to replace both legs with RG Gundam Mk-II's. My kit became even more solid and never had any back-heavy issue ever again.
Just get or DIY a stand next time, this kit deserves it! But balancing a perfect pose is fun too. Or just cheat a little with blue tack or even prop the backpack since it is so posable too, one or two tips of the wings can touch the ground sometimes. Btw i would like to see Force Impulse with MKII legs. Mine are next to each other on my shelf but i am scared to ruin the poses at this point
The transformation for the Impulse has always looked silly. I think it's meant to be a ZZ analogue but citation needed. SEED is a pseudo 0079 retelling while Destiny is Zeta.
The Impulse RG kits should have been perfect imo... if they hadn't had that terrible wrist joint where the joint was a bit too big, there is a huge chance of it affecting the wrist armor and cracking it in half after a few weeks. If anyone plans to buy this kit, remember to sand down the wrist joint a bit.
I would like to, but I don't personally want two different kits of the same unit in my collection. Best I could do if Bandai doesn't move their ass is review the HGCE Blast Impulse
Both of them have their flaws and intricacies, though I will recommend them just as much. It depends on which style of combat you like better in this case. Do you like the traditional Gundam loadout, or fighting hot-blooded with your fists?

It at least feels like it has a solid place in the collection, even while already owning the HG, instead of something like the TV Wing that doesn't really reinvent the wheel for a 1/144 kit of that

The GCP version is just a bloody leg up compared to the standard RG. Although back when I was filming the video, the standard RG Freedom is the one that I could get my hands on easily as the GCP version was boxed up.
