Nothing about this so-called holiday is. The truth about these pagan traditions is the only thing I enjoy now.

The Easter Bilby was introduced by the Australian government due to rabbits being an infestation, so they didn’t want any positive association with rabbits and wanted to venerate native wildlife instead.

    Its of pagan origin.
Thousands of years ago, during the conquest of the Roman empire. Early Christians were trying to convert the people they conquered to Catholicism, but the people were reluctant to give up their beliefs. So, to kind of help this along, the Christians took the 2 biggest holidays celebrated by the pagan faith (The winter solstice, and the spring equinox) and adopted them for the Christian faith. The winter solstice is a time, around late December, when the Sun starts to be in the the sky longer, (birth of the Sun) and the spring equinox is a time when the sun takes over and the day is now longer than the night. (Resurrection of the Sun). The rabbit of easter is derived from the pagan fertility god called Es'tar. A Rabbit made of stone, that laid eggs. Pagans would celebrate the spring equinox by impregnating young virgins.
(Side note: the pagans that refused to convert to Christianity were executed. Christians are alive today, because of mass genocide that was committed "in the name of god" thousands of years ago.

Yeah she lost me with that geeman speak.
They didn't only kill non converts, they killed all the holy men, priests and burned the books. This is significant because back in those days they held all the knowledge

Boy it's a good thing the world didn't then and now kill Christians because they were Christians by the score. Oh wait, they did and still do TO THIS DAY.

      I'm copying this from Wikipedia
The Oxford Dictionary of English Folklore however states "nowadays, many writers claim that hares were sacred to the Anglo-Saxon goddess Eostre, but there is no shred of evidence for this; Bede, the only writer to mention Ēostre, does not link her with any animal".
So it's just an urban legend that the Easter bunny has its roots with some pagan deity

In Sweden we have the witches, similar to Halloween, where the old tradition is young adults dressing up as witches going to Blåkulla to celebrate Easter with the devil. Then it turned into a children’s game, where children, mostly girls, dress as witches and go to neighbors and hands out little home made cards and wish Happy Easter and get a little bit of candy.
But we also have the Easter Rooster who lays eggs once a year (paper eggs filled with candy which are placed under the bed of children on the night between Friday and Saturday) and the Easter Hare ☺️

Not to mention, a lot of the traditions of Easter - including the name - were taken from the Germanic pagan festival celebrating the Goddess Ostara. Sorta like how Christmas adapted the pagan winter solstice.

@@hannawhite7605 What part of "Stole" do you not understand? The Bible says nothing about praying to Mary. Where do you think praying to a Mother deity (goddess) came from? That didn't originate with the Christian religion. Do your research Hanna.

this actually isn't true! Eostre only has one mention in ancient sources and it was written way after the Christianization of the Germanic people. while its true that some elements of Easter were inspired by pagan traditions, it is false to say that it is connected to this goddess.

Tell your kids you'll be doing Easter traditionally, with real eggs and no candy. Make sure to inform them on April 1, then make sure to run and hide.

  • @doscojones6404

Growing up in the Philippines the tradition we had with eggs was using real, boiled ones that were then coloured and hidden for the search. The boiled eggs represented the days when people fasted and saved their eggs as a treat to break the fast.
You can take the bunny out of Easter but that would not stop me from observing the day.

Not all Christians or churches celebrate Easter, but millions of Christians recognize it to be pagan and non-Christian, and instead celebrate the Lord's Evening Meal/Memorial of Jesus' Death, which has nothing to do with Easter.
