      The Arwing in my view outclasses basically almost any star fighter from nearly any space property you can think of. Even taking Fox McCloud out the equation, it's still a really deadly machine. I'm unsure if Warhammer has a counter to it.
      Capital ships are a bit of a different story however. None of these properties warships have grossly overt weak points like in Star Fox. Even a star destroyer seems smartly made in comparison.
      Star Trek's warships basically make the Arwing irrelevant target practice.
      Star Wars capital ship shielding puts anything Star Fox has to complete shame. They might not be able to break through a star destroyer's shielding. (Though that star destroyer ain't hitting that arwing.)
      Battlestars are tricky to me. (Hadn't seen much of the series. But I do know that Battlestars have no energy shields. But do make up for it for heavy armor. And have a really impressive flak screen. If you played Star Fox 64 in sector Y or Area 6, you know that flak mines are quite dangerous if not shot down as you can't barrel roll an explosion like that. It wouldn't be impossible but quite difficult. Also this may be a blessing or curse but battlestars use kinetic weaponry not energy weapons unlike Star Wars or Star Trek. This may be a wild card.
      But these are speculations of mine. Anyone is welcome to debate and add to the conversation if they so wish.

      Conversely, by the time of _Assault,_ the team has come upon better fortunes, and upgraded their Arwings with new state of the art equipment, but likewise it is still overall suposed to be the same type 1 Arwing.

      They lack in the sci-fi department period. Legend of Zelda, Pokemon, Fire Emblem, and Kirby seem to be the only ones getting constant lore on the world at large. Metroid gets some but it's more creature, enemy, and planetside than the galaxy at large. The core Mario series despite it being number one video game franchise on earth doesn't really world build much. And when it does, it's usually confined to that game and doesn't build on. (Not counting Paper Mario, Luigi's Mansion, or Mario & Luigi.) That's probably a reason why Super Mario Sunshine and Super Mario Galaxy are so well liked.

    It's very interesting how they balanced the issue of Mach 4.2 speed and extreme manouverability with an organic pilot by using anti-gravity to cancel out the G-forces the pilot would endure. That alone would make it an excellent fighter.

    • @yagamijubei28
      @yagamijubei28 4 года назад +4

      The G diffuser in the arwing makes the craft manouverable, because there is literally no atmo for aerofoils to catch in space. In interceptor mode, which is the standard mode we all know, is used for atmospheric intervention and the engine exhaust burns red, meaning its a hybrid fuel or a higher output propulsion system as in space, where the G diffuser is more used, it glows blue and the craft is more used in pursuit mode, not needing much energy for the lower to almost nil atmo to go forward, the energy is directed to manouverability in the form of electromagnetic shields and anti gravity retros. Thats just the G diffuser alone on the arwing. The pilot also has a G diffuser on their belt, that allows them to counteract the G forces as they fly. This theory actually makes sense as in the fanfic " sunrise over lylat" the G diffuser was advanced further to make the arwing Seraph, an arwing that can do omnidirectional movement.

    Awesome coverage of the Arwing, i have always loved the Arwing design and the way it maneuvers in Planets with Atmosphere and in Space.
    I am a College Student going for Aeronautics/ Astronautics Major and i can say its very interesting to see that in the N64 Star Fox game, the Arwing changes wing configuration in Mid-Flight and different colored Jet Flare for example while in Space the Thrusters flare is Blue while in a Planet its Reddish Orange. Also while in Space the Arwing doesn't activate the Alierons which makes since since in Space there is no Atmosphere, it uses the G-Diffuser system which i think are the Flight Control Surfaces or system of the Arwing. But in the Planets where there is Atmosphere it uses the Alierons and FCS to be able to control the Arwing. And the All range mode when the Arwing expands its wings are incredible too it has a Variable wing structure where it can be used to be able to fly more freely or to fly more faster which in actual aircrafts do with that kind of wind structures.
    Please forgive me of the long discussion but i find it fascinating and i have to say i do love that you give the specs, capacity, capabilities, and more of the Aircrafts and Spacecrafts, even though these are fictional they seem very grounded like believable. Anyways amazing channel!!!!!

      Converting space meters to Earth imperial units: Depends on if we assume the characters are human size or the size of those animals in reality. Relative to them the Arwing is a tiny fighter, compared with any real-life human fighter. If they're human size, then I would estimate the Arwing to be about 20-25 feet long, they give a length of 28 space meters, so that would give a conversion factor of around 1.2 space meters = 1 foot. If we assume the characters are animal-size, then the Arwing might be around 5-8 feet long, which would give somewhere around 3.5-5.6 space meters per foot.

      You're forgetting that Arwings are capable of taking hits from planet-destroying superweapons (Area 6 boss from SF64). Not very well, but that _is_ a feat they're capable of.
      Honestly, I don't really like the idea of trying to compare tech from different franchises. You run into weirdness, such as small fighters from one setting being able to solo capital ships from another, or weapons that have been demonstrated as being capable of destroying planetary bodies effectively being pea-shooters elsewhere.

    Star Fox Team vs an Imperial II-class Star Destroyer. Their speed would make them exceedingly difficult targets and if they figure out they can fly THROUGH the Ray Shields, the SD is pretty screwed.

    • @mill2712
      @mill2712 3 года назад +2

      I believe in space the Arwing has a similar combat speed as other comparable fighters though it does have more maneuverability in the XY direction than any other fighter in the entire star wars franchise.
      The main issue the star fox team would have isn't being shot down. (Let's face it, even though the defenses on the star destroyer are far superior to Andross' forces, they're still not that great and star destroyers do have issues with snub fighters.)
      No, the main issue is the sheer size and shielding on a star destroyer. Not only is a star destroyer absolutely much bigger and more massive than anything in the Lylat system, it is shielded quite well and there are no glowing spots to say "Hey shoot me here!" That isn't to say it can't be figured out with little difficulty but outright destruction of an ISD is just not in the cards. Maybe they can temporary disable it but I just don't see them destroying it.

      We've seen Arwings go up against similar ships before, most notably the Cannon Betrayer dreadnoughts from Star Fox 2 and the Salvadora Super-Dreadnought from Star Fox Zero. You're kinda correct in that in a straight-up pound-for-pound firefight the Arwing probably wouldn't be able to do much, but part of the thing with Arwings is that their incredible maneuverability means they easily can execute precision strikes against any craft they can't outright destroy with shear force - which is exactly how you're supposed to take out Cannon Betrayers and the Salvadora in their respective boss fights.
      Basically, to fight the cannon betrayers, you actually have to pull a Phantom Menace and fly straight through the ship interiors to then attack the reactor directly. Same thing with Salvadora's Sector Alpha appearance, although in the gaiden mission where Peppy launches a preemptive strike you actually target the various weapon emplacements instead, which eventually causes a chain reaction.
      Against an ISD, the main targets would be the shield generators above the bridge, the bridge itself, the ventral reactor bulge and the primary thrusters, with the turret emplacements being the secondary targets. Even the hangar would be a valid target simply due to the fact that the Arwing could just pop in, hit its brakes hard, fire off a smart bomb or a few charge shots, and then dive out. The reason why that tactic isn't used in Star Wars is because none of their fighters can basically arrest their momentum instantly like that, the G-Diffusor is what enables such an insane maneuver.

    • @mill2712
      @mill2712 Год назад

      @@VestedUTuber
      Ok the tactic of going in the bottom hanger and setting of some nova bombs would actually be a great idea. Especially if you have Star Fox Zero Arwings that have a walker function.
      Though my main concern is the ISD's durability. If you attack a number of bosses in places that aren't its weak points, you won't do any damage. ISDs seem to have some pretty strong armor and shielding. So I'm unsure just how much damage can be done with Star Fox weapons. Bombs are the best bet in my opinion to be honest. And I do also believe the main shield generators are likely the biggest weakness.
      But I do agree that if their weapons are effective, then all the strategies you typed out are more than valid. But if not then only a few spots would be under major threat of an arwing attack with its based weapons.
      (But if Statlink and Slippy's genius are anything to go by, then it's quite likely a few modifications can be made to help assist with those issues.)

    • @VestedUTuber
      @VestedUTuber Год назад +2

      @@mill2712
      Honestly, I think it would be the same case with the ISD. The Arwing has options to attack certain areas of the ship, but if it just shoots at bare hull it won't do anything. The Arwing's laser cannons do still seem to have more punch than the ones equipped on a typical fighter in Star Wars since they can take turrets and other external components clean off of enemy capital ships, so I'd assume they can at least punch some small, shallow holes into the ISD's armored hull (and probably do the same to the various bosses as well), but unless those hit somewhere critical they won't do much more than maybe breach some outer compartments.
