I'm a beta tester for maschine and when I applied to be one I explained how I liked the way Sony's Acid Pro worked with samples. I don't know if thats where they got the idea but this is close to what Acid Pro does. I kept telling them I would like a way to remove parts of the sample and copy and paste parts of the sample like in Acid but maybe next update. The Company Magix's bought Acid Pro from Sony and are supposed to be updating it early next year. Acid Pro hasn't been updated since like 2007
Thank you for this tutorial. I just got the maschine studio and I have been learning by mashing buttons and turning knobs and seeing what happens. Its been about a month and I am getting to know my way around the hardware. This video covered the things that i have not been able to figure out for myself and are a real "game changer"!
Nice tutorials as usual fella, did you know that if you tag your third party loops with the software at the top level as loops that instead of opening up in sampler they will automatically open an audio module.. also you can drag and drop audio internally from any pattern onto an audio module to basically achieve internal sampling without going through the whole existing sampling workflow process..
I've been waiting for this (moment) all my life. Seriously, technology is finally catching up to the crazy thoughts in my head. Wasn't going to get the Mk3 since I have a Mk1 and a Studio but I'm reconsidering.
There are some new features which the Studio doesn't have like the channel strip and the sound card. Truthfully, I'm probably going to give or leave my Mk1 at an organization that I volunteer at. I'm starting a music program to teach kids about music since they sadly don't get it anymore in school. I would leave the Studio in my studio and have the Mk3 for travel.
CJ Willis Sounds like a good plan. The MK3 looks nice. Takes up less space as well. I just don't want to drop that money on it yet. Trying to build a new PC.
Maschine studio is 1. not bus powered, 2. has no audio interface, 3. Has 11 less buttons that the Mk3 (no joke). So no dedicated Chord mode button, no fixed velocity button, no touchstrips, no "4D encoder" (which lets you load things with a single button), and then like the 9 buttons I didn't mention. Saving copies and starting new projects isn't possible on the Studio, etc. etc. etc.
Very nice and informative Video. Especially because i got the MK3 with Komplete Ultimate last week using the Thanksgiving deal. The Hardware of the new MK3 is very good. No Need for a Studio. The MK3 is the best tool, if you want to use it in the Studio and while performing as DJ. This new feature in Maschine is worth in Gold for the Remix dudes... :-) And the best: It comes as a free update.... :-)
I can not tell you how frustrated I was on my plus with my own samples they never sounded right. I knew it could do this but no videos show it. Thank you and it’s a old video lol damm algorithms only showing me bs. Stay safe Godspeed
brandon cutchins thanks so much! My maschine is calling me! But in the next few weeks there’s so much coming up it will take a bit before an MK3 video, but it will definitely be back...!
Really excited for this update! Thank you for taking the time to make this. The audio module is a huge deal. I can think of many uses - one very useful one will be, like you made with vocals @ 7:30 , rather using it on an 808 loop. Complex bendy melodic pitch downs and ups will be incredibly seamless this way as posed to automating the pitch knob. Thanks again!
Thanks for the video. I only known about the Audio module since I stumbled on a nice NI video overview of it a few months ago. The real-time ability for a loop to lock into a tempo, especially while sound previewing them before loading, is just bananas. I bought Serato Sample when it first came out, but haven't had the time to make use of it yet. Plus, I only acquired the Mikro MK3 late last year after selling my Maschine Studio many months before. I love using the pads with some of the features of the module, and your video helps with more inspiring ideas. Having read the comments on this, I'd say that until NI does address some of the wishes and desires (and, yes, shortcomings) of this module, learn to work with what's there. After all, isn't it the end result, finishing that beat or rockin' that performance, that matters in the end? Again, thank you! Oh, and just subscribed.
Dude...your videos are the fuckin' BEST!!!!! i LOVE how you include that "table of contents" time-markers at the side! reminds me of ESPN's Sport Center lol. LOVE IT!!! And you explain things in english, not over-techy talk. I've subscribed!!!
@4:39 doesn't work seamlessly if the sample is more then 1 bar. You forgot to mention to set the playback parameter to the correct amount of playback from the original sample (i.e., 4, 8 bars). Also, if your sample is long, like that from a vocal stem, you'll first need to truncate it using the traditional "Sample" mode, then begin using the new "Audio" plug-in.
im so happy i finally started to look into maschine before i ended up buying a push.... I always dismissed maschine as just a glorified drum machine sequencer that was an addon to ableton... but since i discovered maschine mk3 I'm absolutely sold on the idea of switching entirely to a maschine based production environment and ditch ableton finally... (i grew bored of ableton after 10 years)
All I want is non destructive editing and now they figured out time stretching (without being able to chop and retrigger) For people that are using full loops this may be really cool but for me its more of a gimmick. NI say they will expand the capabilities of the audio module and then it will get interesting for me. While they are at it they can fulfill my second most desired features: proper automation/ (loopable) modulation curves :) Have fun with the new release everyone!
I love Maschine mk3 and studio and native instruments Akai, Korg, etc but my Roland Fantom G has had these features since 2008 aka real-time time-stretch. and I've been using these features from then. And as you mentioned the Sony Acid, had this feature before any other music technology manufacture out there from 1998!!!!!! However, so glad native instruments maschine software 2.7 has implemented these and if I say so works just as well, if not better than my Roland Fantom G6 OS version 1.50... Bless up. You could always adjust the tempo of the sample to match the tempo of the project. All you have to do is use the "free" mode in the sampler's stretch section. Make sure it's at 100% and boom.
when its not recording, you can play the audio pad as a timestrech sampler. however, when it records, the audiofile seems to be placed fixed in the pattern and not where you play it. how is the workaround?
Probably easier than how I used to have to do things on my S5000 (Chop into individual samples, play back and pitch up/down to get them in time, then pitch shift in the opposite direction to get the pitch back to where it was) but I think I've been spoilt by Ableton's warp feature... I've had my Maschine Mk2 for a couple of years now, and apart from finger drumming, it's not seen much use. I really like the look of the Mk3 though, so I'm sessioning it hard to try to get to the point where I like the workflow so I can justify upgrading it. I think maybe my problem is I'm more of a 'whole bar/2bars/4bars' kind of sampler, rather than a 'trigger various chops from a sample' kind of sampler...

What I really want to know is the following: I want to use a sample in keyboard mode without the pitch affecting the playback speed. Right now it's really obvious that the higher notes keep getting shorter and the lower notes keep getting longer whenever I have a nice pluck one shot sample I want to use in keyboard mode and make a melody. I know I can do that outside of Maschine, but what if I want to keep that in Maschine as well. Is that even possible?
Thanks for the fast reply! That's really a shame though... Almost all other samplers can already do that for a loooong time. Really hope they will implement that in the near future.
But I hate it that you have to buy Kontakt for creating your own instrument from a one note sample. I just want to play my own recorded sounds as an instrument on the keyboard. And that's not possible without sounding horrible.
Thanks as always, Loopop! Revisiting this in Sept 2020, I've found it's still insanely clunky and not very intuitive, especially in Loop mode. I wish NI would update this functionality to be a bit more usable, in a lot of ways. Especially offering retrigger capability and an ADSR/Note-on type thing. It's cool, but it's just.................... clunky.
Thanks for the kind words! I find audio module pretty useful for loops, but it sounds like you should just use the regular old sample module - full ADSR envelopes etc. Did I miss something?
@@loopop Good points, haha. Yeah, I do the regular sampling a lot and just do loop-based stuff inside Reaper while Maschine is a plugin.. the most control that way. But I see the cool possibilities... I just wish they'd update it a little bit. I would love the ability to simply have it be re-triggered, from a pad hit. Sampling can easily do this, but if I change the pitch, it has to be re-timestretched, etc. Blah blah blah. :)
Linke Van der Penguin Not in this first version - that would be great. You can fake it like I show in the video using 3 sounds but it’s a workaround. They said it’s coming but in a later release.
For when we can do "SLIP AUDIO" in maschine ???? Loop "A-B" that we can move from right to left inside a song to be able to find a loop listening in real time.
Okaymy fellow RUclipsr people in the comments section,The MK3 is dope but let's not get carried away with the "GOOD-BYE ABLETON" stuff lol. Now if Native instruments FINALLY does what Akai 2.o now does, which is make maschone software into a full blown Daw??/ THEN you can truly say good-bye Ableton lol. But until then... we gotta pump the brakes just a tad bit.
The way it handles audio is still too rigid. Cant trigger the samples on pads, always needs to be loop playing and always starting on 1. Cant do 1 shots or ADSr with the same improves. Still looooong way to go. I dont understand why. Im still hooked on ableton simpler for all of these. Hope NI ppl see what they are missing soon.
Ralphi Idelfonso sort of - you need to go into sampler, edit the sample and go back. They said they will add this capability to audio module but it’s not clear when
This is lovely UNTIL you get to the people who are not loop-based samplers. So if you were someone who likes to chop up vinyl and was hoping and waiting all this time to be able to timestretch the sample of each pad in real time, You’re STILL screwed
E L I T E O N T H E B E A T yea but my issue with it is you being dynamic takes long, compared to other daws out there. I use it with cubase I find my self moving faster than the software it needs to be revamped or something
To clear up any confusion, you click ON the sample plugin with the jog wheel to select the option to convert to audio sample. You did a terrible job of jumping the views while you did this, and by saying " Just like that", which doesn't explain any of the steps the user needs to load the mod.
This changes everything for me. I dont need Ableton to do certain things now. I always wanted to just stay in Maschine. This is a beautiful update.
Jay Werx i used to warp loops in ableton and then drag it back to maschine now is over

Nice
how do i bring up the audio module on the mk2 hardware. i dont see a way how to do it
BROOKLYNDJICEMAN it is coming in a few weeks. If you can’t wait, check out their blog and join the beta to try it out
im on RC1 should i revert back to the beta?
BROOKLYNDJICEMAN you’re part of the beta? Just go download the latest
like i said im on the 2.7.0 RC1 but im on the mk2 hardware and it wont pull up (or i dont know how to pull it up...)
BROOKLYNDJICEMAN I haven’t tried the RC1 yet and don’t own and MK2... sorry... it should work but I don’t work at NI
Is this out yet ?
Patrice Regis not yet but probably soon - they said around mid December if I’m not mistaken
loopop tell them hurry up !!!!!!
So we can't chop up the samples in audio mode???
Beats By Da Don right now no, you need to move to sample, slice and move back. They said they will add editing to the audio module in the future
Thanks for this AMAZING video (which you should be getting paid for by the way) And Thanks for clarifying this. God bless.
E L I T E O N T H E B E A T you’re welcome - comments like these are payment enough ;)
new subscriber here , good job
cristian del olmo welcome!
Nah...but what about loops that are not perfectly looped? How does that stack up against Ableton's warp marker tool?
davdcl499 you can chop them up or fix them in sampler. Ableton warping is still more advanced currently
so no way to retrigger a sample in sampler as a chord with all voices finishing at the same time then...
Linke Van der Penguin Not in this first version - that would be great. You can fake it like I show in the video using 3 sounds but it’s a workaround. They said it’s coming but in a later release.
Why am I just seeing this
For when we can do "SLIP AUDIO" in maschine ????
Can you chop and do this
Ralphi Idelfonso sort of - you need to go into sampler, edit the sample and go back. They said they will add this capability to audio module but it’s not clear when
loopop that’s NI for u
loopop thank you
its a shame its can't run true stand alone also. It would be a game changer for me then.
can't compared with ableton, with Maschine Audio you are not able to play in Keyboard mode scales.
gamechanger.
This is lovely UNTIL you get to the people who are not loop-based samplers.
So if you were someone who likes to chop up vinyl and was hoping and waiting all this time to be able to timestretch the sample of each pad in real time,
You’re STILL screwed
Finally...
Next they need to work on arrangements that shit takes to damn long
Thats what maschine jam is for my friend. You can arrange with the push of a button. Literally. You can find used for cheap on reverb.com
E L I T E O N T H E B E A T yea but my issue with it is you being dynamic takes long, compared to other daws out there. I use it with cubase I find my self moving faster than the software it needs to be revamped or something
Did you get permission from NI to put this up?
Solar Precise yes, because I’m using the beta - though they didn’t see or approve/review/endorse the content
They should be paying you for doing this.
All you young people wants to do is sample and chop samples and work with loops I wish you all would learn to play a real instrument.
To clear up any confusion, you click ON the sample plugin with the jog wheel to select the option to convert to audio sample. You did a terrible job of jumping the views while you did this, and by saying " Just like that", which doesn't explain any of the steps the user needs to load the mod.
