    Hats off to the writers of the show. They are really capturing how brutal and tragic the dance of dragons is. This is the tv show we deserved. And as for rhaenys, i dont think a death has crushed me as much as that in the entire franchise 😢

      Agreed. I have not read the books yet. I do have a vague idea of what is coming. Last night I was out of my chair! I felt like they were killing real life animals. I was in tears.

      @@GeorgeAlexander3110 No they’re not. The book version makes way more sense. In the books Meleys is attacked by Vhagar & Sunfyre at the same time. She had no choice but to fight both. In show Rhaenys didn’t have to fight Vhagar & could’ve lived to fight another day and not sacrifice one of their strongest dragons.

      It was tragic and visually they captured it. You understood why they called it the dance of the dragons when Vhagar and Meleys were holding each other, it was beautiful.

    Aegon also became an alcoholic as a teenager from all the stress Alicent was putting him through, telling him his sister would murder them all once she got on the throne. None of the adults around him made sure he got an "education" or taught him how to fight. He misbehaved, raped and no one taught him to do better. He wasn't raised well so even when he wanted to become a good king, he wasn't able to because of his upbringing and lack of knowledge. He really looked betrayed when Vhagar burned him and his dragon. Aemond looked up to Criston and he was basically a surrogate father to him, because he was a second son he understood very young that he needed to be "worthy" of that Targaryen name just in case and that it was his duty. Alicent breaking that dragon figurine was also foreshadowing how she basically sent her son and Sunfyre to be harmed with her words and it was her other son who did it. It's tragic. It's sad that Criston cared more for Aegon than his parents did, he looked really distraught once he saw his body.

    RIP to Princess Rhaenys Targaryen, the Queen Who Never Was and the Queen that should’ve been and Meleys the Red Queen. They both went out as queens.

    It was my hope that you and Viserys would’ve actually parented your children, Alicent. Or employed someone who could. FFS. Aegon got more affection in that nudge from Sunfyre than he did from his family his entire life. He could’ve been a nice kid and grown into a decent king if he’d been given an ounce of love, validation or proper guidance from anyone who wanted him on the throne.

    • @wiktoriajedrzejewska7287
      @wiktoriajedrzejewska7287 13 дней назад +5

      People really like to tear Aegon apart but they forget that he and Aemond were really neglected by their parents. Aegon had so much potential to be a great king that it's so sad to see him waste it cause he never got the affection he needed and never wanted to become king in the first place. The moment i saw Sunfyre nudge him with such affection and Aegon's warm smile it literally broke me. It does not matter if you are team green or team black (i am team green but i still cried when Meleys and Rhaenys died). Aegon got throne forced upon him and he was acting reckless cause he was desperate to prove himself. We know that Aemond can be an ass but it was Aegon's mistake to mock him. Hope that they stick to the books and keep Aegon and Sunfyre alive so we can see more of their bond. They really care about each other so much and Sunfyre is a literal baby still yet fought so bravely. Meleys' expression broke me too. Like she was apologizing to Rhaenys for ''disappointing'' her and saying a final farewell. It's just so hard to pick a team when all those characters were neglected to some extend.

      What confuses me about the green faction kids is how did Otto intend to make a power grab without readying the heirs at all? Aegon and Aemond are both a volatile mess of insecurities. They’re loose cannons who feel unwanted and unloved. Aegon was already drinking regularly and heavily at 14, but apparently, nobody found that worrying enough to question why. He also didn’t learn much High Valyrian, which is detrimental because the dragons are more attuned to that than English. Did they ensure he learned anything beyond Luke and Jace’s parentage?
      I get that Otto wanted to rule in their name and have them as puppets, but what if he’d died? He isn’t young. He could’ve died, and the heir isn’t even remotely ready. So his backup was who? Alicent? Alicent couldn’t bank on being a covertly ruling dowager queen unless Aegon or Aemond was her puppet. She’s a woman. Without her father, she gets trod all over by the council as it is.
      Aemond is nobody’s puppet, and to successfully manipulate Aegon in the event that Otto passed, Alicent would need to have a mother-son relationship that wasn’t so openly resentful on her part. She has not been manipulating Aegon well. Otto never taught her how, so what was the plan if Otto wasn’t there?

      @user-dx2dm8oq8g 13 дней назад +1

      @@laurah3971 I agree and if they prepared him, brought him to council meetings and Rhaenyra found out, they'd all be in trouble. It would have made sense to send him away like that other brother maybe in oldtown where he could learn the ropes and then bring him to king's landing, but then he'd be a foreigner. By just raising them to be decent kids, things would be easier, but they would most likely never agree to steal the crown from their sister. They'd see the bigger picture and stay united as Targaryens. Personally speaking even if Viserys really changed his mind last minute, I'd stick with Rhaenyra cause otherwise the family will look weak and divided.

    • @laurah3971
      @laurah3971 13 дней назад +2

      @@user-dx2dm8oq8g That’s why Viserys should have just had Rhaenyra marry Aegon. It’s gross, and she wouldn’t like the idea, but how else could he prevent a revolt from the many lords who favour male primogeniture? He can pretend he only has one child all he wants, but the realm sees five, and I don’t know how nobody ever pointed this out to him. The whole Great Council thing proved that the lords of the realm prefer male rulers. The marriage would be no different than Daemon and Rhaenyra in terms of age difference, and it would mean both heirs could attend council meetings legitimately. Under joint rule, if Aegon still felt he wasn’t suited for it after training, he could just do his own thing while Rhaenyra ruled.

    Rhaenys was the really Queen, not crown necessary. She was smart, wise, brave, not bloodthirsty and more. And she died with her Dragon like the a real Lady.

    Btw they put some Eastern-ish (Eastern Europe) vibe to early Targaryens - Byzantine Empire garbs, Russia kokoshniks, Damascus steel, many many precious stones and bright colors on the armor and I absolutely love this.

    ("Tragically") misunderstood prophecies are a common trope in Shakespeare as well as Greek Tragedy; Don't you think an author like GRRM would be more likely to be inspired by those and have the prophecy be something that's NOT to be taken LITERALLY at all and actually mean that the Targaryans need to end in order to end the "Long Night" (a.k.a. the cruel times in which they ruled with the contant threat of complete destruction embodied by the dragons) (while they would obviously fool themselves into interpreting it otherwise likd so many characters have been horribly wrong in this story)? I don't get how that possibikty is so hard to accept by people who consider themselves fans of that kind of author and story (Lord of the Rings, now that would ve a different story, but, welll...)
