      My dad was an early adopter of them in the 90s.
      It was actually surprisingly good as a Family Car. I remember one time we went to the zoo, and brought a picnic to eat in the car, since the seats could do the turny thing. People lost their fucking minds when they saw my parents sitting facing the wrong way.
      Downside was that the 'flexible space' meant my mother nearly crashed it when a bag fell over on the way home from the supermarket and a tin of beans rolled under the pedals. She was not amused by that, and insisted that bags be tied shut in future.

    I still say I'd watch this intently, more so than most events in racing. Do all the vans similar to the Espace F1, limit them to 500 bhp, and let them be mental, you'd have millions of viewers for the entire season.

  • @talltomtube
    @talltomtube 3 года назад

    I'll bring my 1988 E150 with the 4.9L, EFI, AOD Metric Transmission and third row seating. That van had three fuel pumps to run it. At 80-85 mph I could see the gas gauge move lower, however it had two fuel tanks.

      Then stop scrapping them over stupid bullshit and nanny state government and start saving them.

    • @notroll1279
      @notroll1279 3 года назад

      @@MrWolfSnack Nanny state government? Please explain!
      In most European countries, cars have to comply with the legislation of the time of their first registration, no more - so as long as they're kept in good shape, the "nanny state" doesn't care.
      Like early Chrysler Voyagers, however, Renault Espaces were hard working family cars racking up lots of miles and getting less affectionate care than fancy convertibles or sportscars did. So most owners phased them out with bigger repairs looming.
      No different from what US Car owners did with their early Mk I Voyagers....

    • @MrWolfSnack
      @MrWolfSnack 3 года назад

      Unlike the UK they are still on the road no matter their condition. Because there is no law that says you can't. So they are still around getting passed through auction to auction.

    • @notroll1279
      @notroll1279 3 года назад

      @@MrWolfSnack Yes, but most of the early ones are so beat up that only very DIY minded owners can keep them on the road. I remember Tyler Hoover mentioning how hard it is to find a really good one nowadays.
