None of those vans were in production yet when the ones in this video were. It would have been Toyota Previa (also in the video), Dodge Caravan, Plymouth Voyager, and Pontiac Trans Sport.
The car people should buy are minivans, but they all buy dumb CUVs instead. It makes no sense, why buy something that makes you look a certain way instead of buying something that you actually need?

One year this guy had a Chrysler town and country that he absolutely drove like a madman. He finished second and actually won a couple grand. He drove it like he stole it. Drifting corners, overtaking Hyundai Tiburons and Nissan Altima’s with his 20 year old Dodge.

That Mitsubishi wagon is what used to be the Dodge Colt Vista here in the States.They had a 2.0L 4cyl that was a really good motor back in the late 80's . My mom had one ,it topped out at 118 MPH and was actually fun to drive.

This generation espace seems to be pretty well build for a Renault. For example they're fully galvanized. I've seen several even nowadays in the shop and none of them had any rust while my 10 year old BMW started rusting. And they all have high mileages above 300.000km
The early 2.0d version had 65bhp, which in an 8 seater MPV equals 0-60 in about 30 seconds! Can you even imagine how awful it would have been with 8 people and their luggage.....?! You'd go faster on your pushbike! lol

As the owner of a hyundai trajet..... minivans are MADE TO BE converted into vehicles you can sleep in. Mine is complete with water tank, sink, second battery, freezer, and I had a stove which I took out (my stupid skinny strap rubbed thru with all the movement while driving after a few months).
Kinda surprised the Cherry Vanette didn’t make the list. That car made quite the splash when it was made. Also it would have been hilarious if the GMC Safari and the Chevy Astro made the list too.

I still say I'd watch this intently, more so than most events in racing. Do all the vans similar to the Espace F1, limit them to 500 bhp, and let them be mental, you'd have millions of viewers for the entire season.

That's a brilliant Idea. Americans already do something similar to this called "run what ya brung". You basically run what you drove there, save for the added safety devices, and do what they did. There is even a series that makes you have to have a stock radio in the car and have it working at the end of the race. Crazy stuff! Top Gear Rules!

At the wheels probably yes! Think there was a 1.6petrol and a 2.3diesel. I think the petrol was 70hp the diesel was 68hp both really slow

The Nissan Prairie came out in 1982, two years before the Espace. You could get that with 3 rows of seats. And it had sliding doors.
