Great work mate, glad to see you making regular content again. Down to earth chap working on his driveway that we can all relate to which is why your videos are so enjoyable. 👍🏻
I love this working on your drive, reminds me of my youth working on Ford Anglia,s and other 60's & 70's motors. You do a fantastic job.
Agreed...I remember doing a gearbox swap and clutch replacement to my Rover 820 Vitesse on my drive in the mid 2000s. Even though that was a big complex car for its time and I was dead smug about doing it, the Mondeo looks a much more involved job...subframes off etc. Kudos
Using that motorcycle jack thing was a genius touch. Did the rear subframe on my Jag X-Type a couple of years ago (subframe is identical to a Mondeo 2 estate) and if I'd had one of those Jack's, it would have saved calling my brothers over just for 10 minutes to lift it while I lined it up and got the bolts in!!
I guess Im randomly asking but does any of you know of a tool to get back into an instagram account??
I was dumb forgot the account password. I would love any assistance you can offer me!
@Fabian Ryland Instablaster :)
@Braden Jefferson I really appreciate your reply. I got to the site thru google and im in the hacking process now.
Takes a while so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
Brilliant James your a great macanic. I wouldn't hesitate to bring my car to you.well done to you give yourself a pat on the back . Job well. Done.. I Wish I had your confidence to tackle a job like that.
Well done, not many people would be brave enough to tackle a job like that. Great content. Thank You.
Yeah done the exact same job on my Seat Leon on my own. It's a tough job single handed. The 6 spd gearbox is super heavy.
There’s no better feeling than knowing that you’ve fixed a big job yourself no matter what the job is! Well done mate!
O the joys of working on your driveway...great content as always sir...
Good job just watched it on my big tv. How can you have a thumbs down in the first two minutes of being uploaded ?.
Yeh, does my head in ppl do that to guys like James...can't understand it myself!
Bring back the fiesta!! Like if you agree!!
The work you have done I am speechless
dunno if it was just me but the way you was going ham on that pump looked extreme! especially the sped up footage :) good job tho man, was looking forward to this next episode and u didnt dissapoint.
Top work there fella , your becoming quite the professional
Well done on getting this done and also doing it on your driveway. 👍👍👍👍👍
Fair play to mate I'm 75 years of age and you brought back old memories I was you outside my house 50years ago I know the bus I was called Garden side motors by my mates 👍
Awesome as usual James. Watching your video’s gave me the confidence to carry out jobs on my car that I wouldn’t have before. I have done bits over the years but I recently had the front end off my Megane R26 to replace the alternator and radiator and just before that I replaced the starter motor. I’d just like to thank you for uploading video’s like this that have helped me to save a hell of a lot of money in garage fees. Cheers mate 👍🏻
Nice work James - I’m just amazed at how familiar that engine bay is to me and i’ve never worked on or owned a Ford! I have however worked on a lot of volvos and recognise a lot of parts in there and I’m sure some JLR stuff to and goes to show if you cAn fix one ypu can fix them all. Well done mate patience of. Saint to do it all on the drive and even more patience to film yourself doing it! 👍🏽
Great video good job by you
Well done I enjoyed the clutch videos just going to say 1 thing n it's not putting you down don't put your keys in that cup holder there is a airbag plug in thing down there n the key makes it go pop n your airbag light comes on until you put a new 1 in I know this because it happened to me just to let you know that's all if your keeping the car
bro the brake fluid is soooo corrosive :)))
make sure is very very very clean ... get every drop
i know the car is full of rust but still
Awesome job, self belief and some patience by the looks of it, nice one, yet another inspirational video 👏👍
1:57 that's the only choice you have. ALWAYS use OEM gearbox fluid!!!!! Especially on Ford gearboxes! Good call!
im loving my mk4 mondeo too but your dash tone was an an engine message, check the messages on the clocks to see or see if engine lights on, could be cos battery was off or is a low bat as that will do it too, great car, after refitting battery let car idle for 10 min to allow systems to relearn, gd luck
Nice one mate great job 👍 tried ordering a thingamajig Looks like they’re sold out 😂,,,,, thanks again for all your videos you have taught me a lot 🤜
Absolutely brilliant mate👍👍👍👍. Can't wait to see what you get next
Excellent work James. Well done 👏🏻
Top video. Never a doubt you’d nail it first time.
Hi mate, I love DRAPER tools and HENRY hoovers, what are your favourite tools and hoovers????
WE LOVE HENRYS
Well done chap. I follow so many chanells but always love yours. No BS , just to the point. Keep up the great work. I. Am ancient and would have been doing this, if I had been in your position years ago. Love the channel.
Having just done the clutch on my wife’s r50 mini on the road, i can say always gives you great satisfaction when completed, done a lot that way and still get same satisfaction each time
Been watching for a bit now and great content. Although technically you used the wrong brake/clutch fluid. DOT 4 ESP should be used due to the car having traction control (ESP - Electronic Stability Program) Don't know why its not ESC for control???
Thanks for uploading... I'll soon have to change the engine, clutch and so on myself without a lift. Now I know what to do and what to look out for. Thanks ;) Greetings from switzerland
Nice job mate well done. Could you do my Toyota i dont trust backstreet mechanics to do sucha good job i will pay a fair price depending on where you live and have the time.
You need to change the channel title, "The Savage Driveway" really respect your hard work doing that outside on the driveway, done my fair share of driveway repairs, so I know it's not easy, simple jobs as the book of lies say "unscrew and remove, reassembly is the reverse procedure" 4 hours later, one can of WD40, one gas bottle, a 4 foot extension on the breaker bar, 1 trip to A&E, numerous plasters all over your hands and it's done, good luck with the next job.
Love the 'No bolts left over' comment... always worrying when there's a couple of set screws and a detent ball left over ha! Yes I have the T shirt. Enjoy your videos - thanks.
The Mrs' clutch on her Mk2 Focus CC went a couple of days before this video was released. She has the 2.0 Duratec engine, and the process was almost identical to this. Your videos were the most helpful information i could see, better than the Haynes manual, so from me to you, i thank you greatly!
Incidentally, her gearbox (i weighed it) was 36kg. In such a small space, being positioned so awkwardly, reseating it was hard work, and i do not have a gearbox, or motorbike jack.... my solution was to wrap a couple of straps around it, and lift it from the top, while my mate buried in the wheel arch lined it up and pushed it on, i then grab a jackstand and shove it underneath so he could let go, not gonna lie, it took us a while and i was about to give up.
Ive been a long time subscriber, the coincidence that i needed this info, and this time is unreal, keep up the good work. I've mentioned this before, but isnt it time you launched some merch? Specifically Savage Garage overalls. What you saying?
wish i had your talent pal Ive just replaced my gearbox fluid and it takes 1,75ltrs (same engine but focus 2.0 tdci) to help gearbox noise but apparently its the duel mass that's faulty making a terrible noise under load so its in the local garage now for a new one fitting hope it is the duel mass and not the gearbox
Good job well done 👍👍 bet neighbours were thinking whys he moving back and forth lol
Well done, very impressive work 👏 👍
Great video as always James. Keep up the awesome work and content on your video's. Thanks 👍👍👍
Help!! I have a 2011 punto evo and ive been trying to find gas bonnet struts, do they have to be vehicle specific or can you use any? Thanks
I cant believe you got that box back on on your own on the floor 😂 job well done I say 👍🏽😎 I do this day in day out on the floor but I have a friend help me get them back on 😂
Good job. Try a funnel and some plastic tubing for those oil refills, keep it simple and let gravity do the work.
Hey man at 13:47. If you want to know what sensor it is. Just pull the air box out and check if you see a rectangular shaped 1 cm thick apparatus then it’s the MAF sensor or mass airflow sensor
I've just bought a ford mondeo estate, and i can't wait to get my savage garage sticker in the window, brilliant videos pal!
Great work. Can you put links up to where you got the clutch and dmf from please, need to do mine. Same year and engine...cheers
Awesome job James! Keep pushing, so proud of you 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
Next job: clean the drive way :) Just joking; great set of videos.
Had a MK3 sttdci now got a MK4 had to replace the steering rack on it about 3 months after buying it they drive so well they make the MK3 feel like a matchbox car the doors feel so much better the boot space is definitely better I just miss the tight suspension the st had but the MK4 hug the road incredibly anyway can still throw them round the corners
Awesome james. Always a great feeling after doing so much work to feel it work as it should iv reacted exactly like that a few times :) now then, when you getting that arch welded on the other mondeo iv been eagerly awaiting since last June lol. Great video dude.
James Ive in the past picked up oil from ford main dealer dereham at a good price those bottles of gearbox oil sounded bit high in price oil pump was a bit slow Sykes do a big syringe for oil or liquid goes straight in lot quicker mate
Well done James very imprest you are good mechanic it would seem there's no job that you wouldn't try keep up the good work
This may be a naive comment, however why don’t you fill the gearbox with oil while it’s outside of the car?
What happened to the electric pump you used for the skoda gearbox fill?
Hey would u be able to help us out as my dad got ford mondeo Titanium tdci 2009 with a engine malfunction
I haven't watched you in about a year. You look like you have been on steroids or something. I hope you are doing well.
When I start a job that requires the battery out for a few days, I put it on charge. The amount of people who don't do this and "final start up - and battery flat!"
Next time when filling any gearbox oil, instead of using that bottle with the pump...drill a small hole in top of the bottle and get your air compressor and blow air into the bottle and straight up the hose into the box :)
briliant job well done great video very informative really enjoyed
Did you find the YumCars bottle or are you driving around with it in the engine bay somewhere? Lol
I wonder if the clutch on mine is starting to go. It goes into gear ok but 1st gear is pretty harsh and I usually never bother to shift down into it when slowing down as it's jerky and feels like it wants to stall. I also sometimes struggle getting it to actually go in reverse but I assumed that was just the pull up mechanism being worn out on the stick itself.
Fantastic job! Congratulations 🎉
Well don mate your a top guy great video you show and explaine every step by step your chanel is simly a must to watch bril
Phil in stoke
just wondering would you need a wheel allignment now after all that work? subframe etc..
I have a knocking sound coming from my car but when I press my clutch down it goes away and also only happens when car is cold could this be a sign of clutch on its way out ?
great work dude. when all the maintenance done please dont sell it. Do some oem+ mods maybe facelift or adaptive cruise control retrofit
I've just got mine together and my gears won't go in whilst the engine is running. Might have put the friction plate in the wrong way around 😒
how much would you be selling this for? im looking for a new car and would travel for this if its in my budget
You have made a fantastic job of that, you are a marvel, I think that noise you had was because you didn't have your seat belt on as mine does that if I haven't got the belt on and it also does it when the passenger hasn't got their belt on but then I suppose you have worked that out now.
I would love to have my car get service from you becasue you look like some i could trust becssue off other mechanics just add on but i would really would want to know what u would say about it
Had a nightmare beginning of this week clutch peddle just felt wrong the bite was right low then later struggled to select gear. But turns out it was the pipe to the slave.
This video died on me last night. Got off work and kept coming up as unavailable. Glad it's back. Hope all well!
Same here.
Fantastic effort! Thoroughly enjoyed this series.
I commend you on that job you had me excited to do the test as well your Mondeo must be a later one than mine because I haven’t got the keyless start but mine is automatically geared so I don’t have to worry about changing it goes up and down on its own
I got to admit I do love the mk4 is the car you can go anywhere in well done you need to keep that motor for a bit perfer the mk4 over the mk3 it's a shame Ford won't make another mondeo after the mk5 I do love my mk4 tho
Hey man. How have you found covid ? Found it fairly tough myself with no gyms open and nothing to do
I did a aygo auto box fluid change today, that pump head actually screws onto the bottle!
hope you are ok miss your helpful videos i must of watched all of them several times please start posting again
You got me on this one. I have to do the same procedure on the same gearbox mounted on a 2.0d Volvo s40.
Eric 'O' SMA baseball cap...well, almost....
Top video James very well done really looking forward to the next video
To get the boot open you should have just put a jump pack on the terminals👍🏻
hey man, i'm a really big fan of these mk4 mondeos, what engine do you have?
Just some knowledge for the future james maf sensor is pre turbo map sensor is post turbo as a map sensor is a manifold absolute pressure sensor so once it's been compressed in the turbo that's the true reading
Congratulations, you did it right! Very non-hubnut.
If you need another project, i have a astra j that im wanting rid off, it has engine issues and needs some other work.
great job mate....really enjoyed this, total win
Weldone, great job. Next job clean up the drive, lol
You don't have to put the key in the middle pocket you can just leave it in your trouser pocket
Did you find the spare Yum bottle though?
4:12
What is it about cars and double entendres?
Ps it's not the size of your hose but what you do with it.
Bravo, so happy you masterd it 😎😎😎😎😎
😎👍
Good vid one question whare did you get your adidas jacket
Great series of videos and the last plug was for the MAF sensor
Keep this one and sell yours James better spec and looks cleaner.
Congrats, nice job and video! Keep em comin :)
Well done.. superb result a lot of work but you got there. 👍🏼
Well done sir now you familiar with mondeo mk4 you can take a look at mine
Nice one great video. Where did you get the bleeding bottle unit from?
Check the engine oil, some leaked out when you did the rear main seal
Well done now all that’s left us to take it on the motorway and blow the cobwebs out of it.
I love this channel thanks for another great video 👍
