If she was unsure about how much Australians eat vegemite then to use the word 'lie' was too strong. However, if she had the misconception before she arrived into Australia then I interpret the lying done by her follow Americans; probably by the US media.

I like how you are pointing out to new arrivals to Australia that they need to do a bit more research. People need to remember that a survey of one or two means nothing (I found this at TAFE a long time ago). A quick look on google informs me that about half of all Australians eat vegemite and with my observation, I would think that was about right.

I always have a jar in my pantry and try everything that includes Vegemite, even chocolate savoury snacks like shapes etc. I also worked with a lady who had a Vegemite sandwich every single day from her first day at school until her retirement. We go through the largest jar every month and I am considering a trip to Costco for a bucket of it. Oh, and my British husband slathers it (shudder!) all over his hot buttered crumpets every morning.

Cadbury in Australia tried vegemite chocolate several years ago; even die hard Aussies hated it 😂😂😂 vegemite on buttered crumpets is truly divine- I’m not sure if I would slather it on, you definitely need a decent amount of butter to make it work, but yum!!

@@CheekyKoala I loved the Cadbury Vegemite chocolate 🤷‍♀️ I bought some Calbee Harvest Snaps that were Vegemite flavour for a granddaughter and ended up buying up boxes of them from NQR because “I” got addicted. I do a “gourmet” Vegemite and cheese melt with oregano sprinkled on top of red onion and tomato that woofed down by everyone. My fav breakfast is brioche lightly spread with Vegemite, topped with cheese and melted in the toaster oven.

I don’t eat Vegemite and I loved it. Absolute Honest Aussie Truth.
I used to, every day - stopped eating it for quite a while, went to eat it again - oh dear lol, I finally understood how foreigners don’t like it lol. I now still don’t eat it and I’m a born and bred Aussie with Aussie parents and Aussie grandparents etc.
She’s too general. I honestly don’t know another Aussie personally who doesn’t eat it but who asks their friends, “who eats Vegemite?” lol,

She was definitely way too general! My butter to vegemite ratio has changed over the years (more butter), but I still eat vegemite & especially love it on crumpets with butter!

I thought I’d take to eating Vegemite again easily - Nup, I’m still a butter on toast and crumpets person - I need to be deported

Ashley is very pro aus and currently on process to be permanently be aussie..... I've watched most of her journey, she's been honest lot (she's friends with kindaustralian from Sydney), do not know them at all, click some of their videos as for me seeing videos of other people experience of Australia reminds me of the blessings that I live at where other people just get to dream..... mostly to make views creators have to make sensational or controversial word phrasing to standout..... the "lie" in this case is a reference, rather than literal point of view and been broadly use around topics.... mainly the American general view she anecdotally as stereotypical aussie character and aspect of our culture, and she just like following a trend by what's fashionable use around (ex: many vlog titles using the word "lies" that's been use a lot lately, but the content are perceived common pigeon hole in general knowledge, so that's not a lie but a harsh title to garner viewers, ie: "10 things they lied about Australia" - 1# everything here wants to kill you....)..... the use of lie in her case are more of not an attack to typical aussie (since there are now more in millions migrants with never acquiring the taste to vegemite, beside the aussies whose also not partial to salty foods, etch) but like you mentioned stereotypical that are not completely in general to all people in Australia......

I remember I watched that girl not long after she arrived in Australia. I can’t remember what she said, but it made my Aussie blood boil - which honestly rarely happens. I replied to whatever she said, and me thinks my politeness sort of tippy toed away a tad lol. I unsubscribed and this is the first time I’ve heard her voice since. I don’t go looking for trouble at all, I’ll walk away - but she was being revived and curiosity got to me 🥴
Apparently she’s mellowed - but I’ll keep my distance for - as my darling mother would say - peace and civility 😊

Spot on, don’t dis anyone really if u haven’t got all the correct facts. I’ve had some wonderful polite American friends living here in Aus. I guess it’s anyone putting another country down because they are told they are The Greatest. I believe no country should say that as all countries aren’t perfect. I’ve never typed it before but thought of it often. Some , yes only some Americans who say they are the Greatest, remind me of the school bully. “I’m better at everything you do, and know more than you do.” As I said, not all, personally I think it’s sort of brain washing and I’ve heard some RUclipsrs hearing how the rest of the world lives, works, better wages and holidays, what we eat, how much other countries look after each other health wise re taxes ( i paid road tax on roads and other things I never used and never thought about it, until what I heard on RUclips. I’ve been called a socialist and a communist lol, I’m not - but that’s what some have been taught to believe. RUclips is opening some people’s eyes.
Sorry for rant - this will probably be deleted. My freedom to write what I think might not be ok on here. 🤔
