Dont think Putin and Xi will want to get involved militarilly. How could they? They dont have much military in the region, except for Russia's marine base in Syria, which will be a tad too far. Then the only option is icbm's. Not going to happen from those bc that means the end of the world as we know it.
Pakistan might be a worry though, but im sure they thought of that.
Not that i think the US should do anything. But Iran shouldnt close of the straight of Hormuz. If they do, there is going to be trouble and rightfully so. Imagine if Spain closed of straight of Gibraltar. Then there would be trouble too. Or Turkey closes the Bosporus. Also trouble. Is just not an option in the world today to close of important shipping lanes, bc it affects world economy.

Most other countries already said they not going alone with the U.S. on this one. So who is there going to be, Israel and Saudi.
Yes, we will win. But they can do a lot of damage to the U.S. it won’t be a cake walk, just ask the Russians, they fought Iran for years.

    • @Terrekain
      @Terrekain 5 лет назад

      Largely incomplete.
The major wrinkle that this youtuber doesn't mention is the same wrinkle everyone seems to forget - if it gets to a shooting war with the United States, if the Iranians actually fire their missiles on the US Navy, then why would the US Navy just attack the missile batteries and "Go-fasts"? This is the blind spot many amateurs and neophytes in the media are ignorant of.
The US Navy in both Persian Gulf wars (any war really) does not attack missile batteries first; it will attack the Command, Control, and infrastructure first - severing the arteries in the body and dissociating the brain. What does that mean? It means the same thing it means in the previous wars - like Iraqi cities and infrastructure, Iranian cities and infrastructure will be eviscerated within the first 24-48 hours. That's why the Iranian Navy did not dare fire their missiles or torpedoes at the US Navy during Preying Mantis - and why if that Exocet had been an Iranian missile, rather than an Iraqi missile, the findings would have decided the course of the war. I will give this youtuber credit in at least identifying the difference between the Iranian Navy and the Republican guard, though - the distinction between the 2 is an artifact from the Cold War, and only recently has been held accountable in ROE and battle orders (Any attack by IRG is now considered a general attack on the US, just like an attack by the Iranian Navy - it wasn't always so because they couldn't be identified having no uniforms especially in the Cold War). There were people wondering whether the Iraqis tried to frame the Iranians on purpose rather than mistake, much as the Israelis did the Egyptians when they attacked the USS Liberty. Tipping the balance of world affairs in your favor, and getting the World's most powerful military on your side of a costly war, are where the big stakes lie.
So the idea that Iran can "close" the straits is missing any discussion of the very foundation of the strategic picture in the Straits that even a neophyte in recent history should be able to ascertain, never mind the nuclear and anti-ballistic calculation.

Interesting topic and a nice overview of the situation. Now I’m kind of interested in a video of the various US fleets around the world, and forward operating bases like Diego Garcia. Glad that you touched on Amphibious Landing Groups. Would still love a video on the composition, deployment, and relevance of Amphibious Warfare in modern context.
I was expecting a short segment on the (controversial) LCS on handling the threats in the strait, such as fast attack boats. Its ironic that Torpedo Boat Destroyers, now generally known as destroyers, were originally designated as such because they were meant to counter massed attacks by short range craft armed with torpedoes, with Fast Attack Craft filling that role. But thats probably out of the scope of this video.
It sounds like you got a new microphone, or changed the tempo of your narration. I was honestly reminded of the voice of Fleet Intelligence from Homeworld, if you are familar with the game.
    Example: ruclips.net/video/ia4f8q3F3-Q/видео.html
(There is a Remastered Version now, but didnt want to link to the spoiler)
Looking forward to the next topic!

+US Hey! Thanks. I am still looking into amphibious warfare, so this wasn't the one. I will eventually though. I started working on this video a few months ago and decided to finish it.
When I was doing research for this video, I found a website that had a map of the locations of each US carrier and amphibious assault ship. I cannot remember the name of the site, but it was interesting to look through. The US Navy loves their photo ops, so each CVN and LHD are usually photographed and released to the media every week or so along with stating roughly where they are and what they are doing. So in the past I just search each one individually, but that site made it easier.
No I've never heard of that game before. Just watched the video though, I hear a slight resemblance!

Destroying the earth in doing so and not nearly as lucrative as it is in other countries. We’re there for oil. You’re dreaming if you think otherwise.

The US would never limit the response to one aircraft carrier battle group, it is just too important. A full response by the US would include the use of bombers, as well as SOF to seize and hold small islands in the Gulf. Although Iranian antiship missiles would pose a significant hazard, I don't believe that Iran has the ability to threaten shipping for more than month in a major conflict.

There’s a reason so many Americans and countries in the region hate Netanyahu. That aside, you’re saying it wouldn’t be WWIII just because Israel isn’t in the wrong? Even if you take Israel out of the equation entirely, a US/Iran conflict would 100% lead to WWIII...have you been monitoring global affairs in the last 2 years(at least)? Eüro Nasty The only reason the US in the Middle East in the first place is because of Israel. Iran has been having issues with the US because of their bond with Israel for decades at one point even cut off a lot of oil flow to the US. Iran wants to destruct Israel a lot more than the US and now Iran is not giving up. I predict Iran is smart enough to realize that the US is not gonna stop trading with Israel and will back out but if they don’t and ww3 begins I also predict that Germany. The UK.France.Spain.Australia.Japan.Turkey. Saudi Arabia. Israel as the us will go to war vs China Iran and Russia for control of the Middle East’s peace with Israel and also for the weapons sells with everyone in it.

A swarm of small boats are a good target for cluster bombs...
A single F/A-18E/F Super Hornet can carry 10 CBU-87 Combined Effects Munition Cluster Bombs
One cluster bomb can cover an area the size of 120×240 meters with 202 submunitions (or bomblets) the bomblets are designed to be used against armor, personnel and soft skinned targets and consist of a shaped charge, a scored steel fragmentation case and a zirconium ring for incendiary effects... and pilots are trained to drop them in pairs, so imagine 404 submunitions (2 cluster bombs) exploding all around you if you survive, the plane will likely circle around for a second pass as a second plane drops two more...
They're a devastating and demoralizing weapon, even if they survive, they'll probably turn around and RTB (Return To Base) which will probably be bombed by the time they get back...

Any sign or prediction of war in the Strait of Hormuz would jack up oil prices immensely. Taking an approach right now without provocation would be politically disadvantageous, especially without a proper reason, and would harm the oil prices unnecessarily.
China, Russia, India, the US, and most European countries all collectively agree that the strait should be open. Iran's diplomatic ties with both Russia and China would be severed instantly if they took that approach, and later arms procurement and diplomatic backing would be difficult to find from said countries.
Iran despite citing war from western countries would obviously be the ones to lose from said war. The US is only a single country. A powerful country for sure, but only a single one. The US alone would not be able to take on Iran with the same efficiency and scale as they did with Iraq. French, British, Canadian, and Indian forces would have to get involved and will get involved. Iran isn't dumb and knows even with a war of attrition they cannot win against a coalition force exceeding in both quantity and quality.
Chinas diplomatic strategy is to appear to take no interest in global politics, and since relations with china are already low between countries, any military intervention of China would only be disadvantageous for China. China supports Iran, but would not risk losing face for a confrontation with the west. A rare scenario would be them funding a proxy war with China, however, even then it would sever trade ties with the west.
