Un trabajo laborioso, sobre todo las terminaciones...
Gee, I love watching this. Such precision and skill!
old school
Dude I can’t even make cereal without screwing up...
Excellent video, I have never seen a barrel like this being made. What a tremendous amount of work and skill to plan it all out. Looks great.
ahhhhh that smell , mmmmm ....... the smell of wood and metal working, the sound of the milling machine, every step i make, when i start to see the result and that turn to a real beauty, every move with the file, the measurements, the final estetic traitement, that feel like i just make a baby borne, i just love everything about gunsmith, happy to share that with you.
That about sums it up! There's nothing better.
What lathe are you using? Looks nice!
Beautiful finish , excellent machining skills love to see the finished rifle ,the blank looks fantastic !
Thank you!
I guess Im asking the wrong place but does anybody know a trick to log back into an Instagram account..?
I stupidly lost the login password. I appreciate any help you can give me.
@Immanuel Ameer instablaster ;)
@Corey Donald Thanks so much for your reply. I found the site thru google and I'm waiting for the hacking stuff now.
Seems to take quite some time so I will reply here later with my results.
@Corey Donald It did the trick and I finally got access to my account again. I'm so happy!
Thanks so much, you really help me out !
Boy that's a lot of tedious work. I appreciate you sharing your craft.
Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed it.
Fantastic work! A true Craftsman!
You do beautiful work, thanks for showing us.
Thank you!
And that's why those rifle cost so much. Look at the time it took to make that barrel. Killed it
This is genuinely inspiring work. Is there any problem with distortion of the barrel when so much material is removed?
You're less likely to see any kind of warping in lathe operations. Milling cold rolled steel is another issue though. You can easily turn a thin piece of steel into a banana if you're not careful. Mainly, just make sure you take equal amounts off each side. If you hog a bunch off with a rougher, take it out of the vise and let it correct itself, then put it back in for your finishing operations.
Damn! This video reminded me how much I miss conventional machining. Screw CNC!
Simplesmente maravilhoso o seu trabalho!!!!
This is absolute, undeniable, proof that there is a difference between just a job and the passion for ones WORK! As a gun nut and owner of a few myself, Loved watching this creation!
Thank you!
Nice video have you considered screw-cutting away from the shoulder I always try and do it that way as its easier on the nerves .
Великолепная работа👍👍👍🔥🔥🔥🔥
Hello, what kind of steel do you need to make the cannon?
Plz sir .i want to have the berle of AK 47, how can l get it???
I do NOT have the patience!
That was amazing! Thanks for the post.🎯👶🇺🇸
May I ask what kind of drilling machine you use in this video?
Beautiful. I hope the customer appreciates the artistry that goes into that.
I can't get anything but chatter on my G3006 turning a barrel, like that. What's your secret?
use a cutter with a smaller nose radius or vary your speeds and feeds

Hi there!: I'm Not a machinist, (I'd wish I were one!), just an E.R. Dr. Truly appreciate you allow us to see how a Masterpiece is born thru skillful & artistic use of your tools + careful & precise craftmanship.
My sincere congrats for an awsome video!; Many thanks & God Bless!!👌🇺🇸🙏
Thank you! I appreciate your skills as an ER Doc. Especially at times like these.
I have always wondered how that kind of work was done. You quoted Troy F. a 5K price. Now I can see why, the old way with no CNC.
hhhhh buddy this is definitely NOT the old method
@@MFKR696 honestly the old method is based on the technics of forging from a piece of metal to give rise to a cylinder, the interior of the barrel was worked according to its future use, either smooth or scratched interior, all of that manually, all tools are handcrafted and intended for strictly manual use,the best manufacturing methods are the oldest, especially the heat and protective treatment, but unfortunately to obtain a master weapon it takes a lot of time, and i tried all methods in my 21 years of gunsmithing
@@MFKR696 same things for me, the old "ancients" methods are the best, the new metal working give fast results, but compairing to the old school method that's big difference of quality, imagine rifles from 17 century still existe, can yo say same thing about an M16? lol
beautiful and craftmanship to, but would you not be better af with a straight barrel ,in the case of heating the barrel up (WArping) PROBERLY NOT A PROBLEM IN A HUNTING RIFLE
A Man and an endmill can do wonders!
I can do this with guarantee
Excellent WORK, GREAT detail , no hurry , NICE one step at a time, LOVE to see the rifle shoot. GREAT WORK GENTLEMEN .
Getting old and grumpy. Have never understood why people clamp off to one side of a Vice. Can be done but the other side needs to be Blocked otherwise the jaws Spring. Try clamping on one side and running an Indicator along the movable jaw. The Boss would have Clocked me for being such a dumb .... Old School
I want to know can I buy from somewhere??
Please tell me the answer please
I request to you!!
Yes, we could make you just the barrel or do similar work on a custom rifle. More info at www.mnrcustom.com
How many man hours do you have in that barrel? Great video
Thank you! I usually end up with about a week into machining and polishing these barrels.
Steyr Mannlicher make a single piece barrel and bolt / magazine holder , on their standard bolt action rifles . Apparently this dramatically improves accuracy.
Nice.. guns... PHILIPPENES
So many opportunities to mess up. Great work Matt..
Thanks Kin!
Super! It's just techno porn! Can you tell me what the ledge is for? Is this the claw of recoil?
We lose more barrel blanks that way. It is known but now clear a gun maker is first a damn good machinist.
Why why why this stupid and loud music. Why do you think we want music?
Very nice job. However any good machinist could do that. I was waiting for the long hole drilling and rifling the barrel. May be next time?
Any machinist can also do deep hole drilling and rifling.
i was also looking for this most demanding process - long, straight hole drilling, reaming and threading. The title is misleading. From blank means from blank:)
Reality barely gun
SUPERBE !!! ça me rappel mon bon vieux temps !, merci pour cette vidéo
Heat sinks on rifles is that a good thing or bad like an air cooled motorcycle
Boy would I love to send him a couple sets of my reamers to make some barrels like that. It would be worth the cost for me. He even milled in a threaded post for the 7 pound screw at the end of the forearm. Gosh I wish I could have him make me some barrels. I have the actions I have the stock blanks I have the reamers.
How much does a .25 cal cannon cost for an air rifle. ??
Yes, boys and girls... That's what a bent-tail lathe dog is for. I'm surprised there was no flood coolant used. Golly, I could do all that (except the CNC part) in my home shop. Now I'm all excited to make my own. However, you left out the most important part that I was waiting to see: the boring and broaching of the rifling spiral...
Hi Ralph,
We'll leave the rifling to the barrel makers (which I'm not one). I get these 2" rifle blanks from Krieger after being bored and rifled. Thanks for watching and commenting.
nice use of the dividing head to round off the barrel
So many chances to mess that up...... Always wanted to try it but didn't have the courage. One day maybe............
Go for it! It's incredibly rewarding.
Muy padre como se fabrican me gustaría trabajar en eso
Skookum as frig! Totally amazing skill and craftsmanship; one slip of the mill crank and you're screwed. Just amazing thanks for sharing. What is the purpose of the lug under the rear sight? Never seen that before.
Thank you Gregg! That's funny, when I lived in Alaska I had a friend who used the term "skookum" all the time. Haven't heard it in over 10 years. The lug under the barrel is just a secondary recoil lug. On big bores it's handy to have that to help spread out the recoil in the stock.
Fundo musical excelente.
Been a gunsmith for years, never seen this before. Very impressive. How's it shoot? Does all the machining work harden the metal, introduce stresses? Again, very impressive
This one shot quite well for a big bore. 1" at 100yrds. When I do this type of machining on barrels I prefer to use Krieger barrel blanks. The cryo their barrels which removes a lot of the stress in the steel. They don't seem to move around when machining like some other barrels I've used.
Legal
wow, impressive hand-dialed machining on that cone! nice job! greetings from germany!
got my abo btw! ;)
Какая марка стали использована? Как называется станок? Спасибо.
Did removing mass external materials release internal stress causing the barrel to bend? Did the rifling concentricity at both ends stay the same?
No noticeable affect on the bore. This was a Krieger barrel blank. They are properly stress relieved which makes them much easier to work with without ill affects. Doing the same thing with a hammer forged barrel would spell nightmares for the bore's concentricity.
Skip the music
Turn your speaker off :) But seriously, some clips are sped up so if I kept the original audio it would sound pretty funny.
very nice workıng.good job
Exelente video felizidades,un saludo desde mi ermoso México.espero algún día tener un rifle aunque no funcione solo para contemplar como reliquia.
gracias!
How is it drilled out and rifled?
Really, really nice work... :-)
👍🏻👍🏻🇨🇦🇺🇸
Must be very expensive!
請問一下零組件要哪邊購買 網上可以購買嗎
Getting the dovetail fit right is crucial, how is that achieved?
I get close by measuring the sight. The dovetail is cut slightly wider on one side of the barrel. Then by trying the sight after each .001 cut I keep checking to see when the sight starts into the dovetail.
Better buy it than make it.....
Poetry in video!!!
Measure twice cut once ?
Whats your lathe model ?
G0709
@@mnrcustomllc8253 many thanks.your miling machine model ?
fazem pra vender esse canos
Hi ! milling is better in "concordance mode" good work
komen apa ya ?
Extremely nice work for sure. I'm curious how much time was spent getting every single dimension laid out on paper or CAD, double then triple checking those for any dimensional errors before you hit the start switch for the first time. :-) Even at that it's all to easy to make a cutting mistake if your not 100% sure of every move.
Quite a bit of time. Can't say I can remember specifically, but at least half as much time as the actually machining.
@@mnrcustomllc8253 I didn't see any video angles taken high enough to see if you have dro's on your lathe and mill or not. If not then doing the job with the dials and compensating for backlash would make it about 10 times harder. Yes it can be done just like you showed, but I think it takes a special mind set and machinist to do it as well as you have. While I've got the equipment to duplicate something like this I wouldn't bet a dime on me doing so without a fatal mistake for the barrel. This is a whole lot tougher to do than it looks. Unfortunately and except for a very few with well known names, highly skilled custom gunsmiths aren't as appreciated or as well rewarded as they should be.
@@turningpoint6643 Thank you for the compliments. I have a DRO on the mill but not on the lathe. I've run mills without DROs in the past but on a job like this it would likely drive me insane.
Qual o material usado neste cano....seria inox ou não.
Chrome moly
how long does it take to make a firearm barrel?
It takes two to three days machine time and then two days to file and polish.
Amazing fun?
Great job
good job
Bravo!
Wow.. M
Nice work! Thanks for sharing
Very nice, now do a 1/2 octagon 1/2 round and with a full tapered rib.
Thank you! I'd be happy to make a video making a 1/2 octagon, 1/2 round with a full tapered rib if you'd like to order one from us :)
@@mnrcustomllc8253 believe me if I had the money, I am curious tho the costs. One day I will finish my 1909 lol.
@@troyfairweather8553 Around $5k polished. If you wanted to do the the stoning it would be a little cheaper.
WOW👍👍👍👍👍

Good stuff.
Really cool work much respect for your skills. I'm not a machinist I'm just asking a question would doing a hexagonal barrel have made this easier? Im also aware that it may not be the correct profile for the rifle you are building.
i am a machinist and a hex barrel would have made for faster blending but been about the same everywhere else, also not many gunsmiths have mills with long enough travels to do a entire hex barrel
@@SuperAWaC Cool thanks for the reply, makes sense.
Barrels would be octagon, not hex.
Wow fantastic job
Thank you!
Amazing skills.
beautiful
Nice work! Audio could do with improvement though. It's not terrible music, it's just that it sounds like it was recorded with a potato next to a ruptured speaker... and then put on loop for 30 times.
Вауу..👍
Nice work! Nice video!
Thank you!

Great work
Thank you!
Well done!
Thank you!
I'm making an accessory barrel for my H&R, Handy Rifle and the skills I have will make mine look ..... NOTHING like what this guy does!
The the most I'll drill the top for a scope rail and perhaps a dovetail or two for some iron sights if I can find some that are real simple to install and the barrel it now has is only set up for a scope anyway.
