    The fact you can smile while disassembling your Pioneer for routine maintenance says a bunch about you sir! Thanks for the great video!

    Thanks for good tips in valves, helped a lot. Try this next time, instead of screwdriver, use 1/4" dowel, and have a sharpie nearby, as you feel you're at TDC, mark a line around dowel where it meets plug threads, and rotate engine a couple of times to validate TDC, by watching location of sharpie line as it nears plug opening. Thanks again.

      Greetings,
      Thanks for your positive and encouraging comments. And, thanks so much for the suggestion to use a 1/4" dowel marked with a sharpie to monitor the piston travel/position. What a great idea!! I really appreciate you taking the time to share your idea, thanks!!

      Hello Dave,
      It was actually close, if I hadn't seen the plug on the floor I might have continued on and then in a few minutes would have had to do some back tracking. I had a good laugh at myself. Great to hear from you Buddy!

      Greetings from the White North!!
      Glad you enjoyed the video, thanks for your encouragement. We have not had any issues with our machine at all. Our buggy is a joy to operate and serves us flawlessly. The recommended valve clearances are:
      intake - .006"
      exhaust - .013"
      Hope this helps!!
      All the best!!

    Pretty work Paul! Always nice working on a Honda, some of the other brands seem to forget about maintenance until after the machine is designed. Seeing any fall color up your way yet? Thanks again for bringing us along!

      Hello from the North,
      I agree, Honda produces some well designed, well built, high quality products. The Soft Maples are brilliant red, and the other Hardwoods are beginning to show some hints of colour. In another 2 or 3 weeks things will be spectacular. At our camp (about 50 miles North of where we live) the colours are well along.
      I hope you and your family are doing well and fire wood sales are stepping up.
      All the best from Ontario!

      When I was much younger I used to tease my father when he struggled to work on a small part or read some tiny writing. I feel bad... now it's my turn. LoL
      I agree, it definitely takes a real man to grow old.
      Hope you are doing well Buddy.

    Were your valves actually out of adjustment? Or was it really just a check? Was the gasket on the valve cover reusable or did you have to get a new one?

    • @OutothehousewithPaul
      @OutothehousewithPaul  Год назад +2

      Greetings from Ontario,
      The valve clearance was far above the allowed limits. It was actually surprising how much clearance there was. The valve covers have an o-ring seal they were in great shape and easily re-used.
      Thanks for your interest!

    My Honda is acting like it is getting no fuel. Only goes 10 mph. Do these have fuel injectors? Mine is about 10 years old. Trying to avoid taking it to a repair shop.

    • @OutothehousewithPaul
      @OutothehousewithPaul  Год назад +2

      Greetings from Ontario Joelene,
      That is a good question. I am not quite sure what specific machine you have but ours (Pioneer 700) is fuel injected. The fuel filter is actually part of the fuel pump assembly and is found in the fuel tank. If you haven't already, and for the limited price, changing the plug (s) is always an easy place to start. Good luck with your machine!

      @@OutothehousewithPaul mine is a 2014 SXS 700 2 seater. I love it! It has been the perfect side by side for our farm! The dump cart is the perfect size. We have only had to do the basic maintenance and haven’t had the luxury of keeping it in a garage. I am from Western Pa. Thank you for all the advice. The owners manual could be written so much better with more important information! It is lacking any info on the pistons and setting the valves! Doesn’t even show WHERE the valves are! It has 5 pages on the oil and changing the oil but doesn’t state HOW MUCH OIL IT HOLDS! I only bought 2 quarts and it holds 3.1 quarts! ABSOLUTELY NOTHING about the fuel filter or WHERE IT IS!! Thanks again for the info. It is a bit of a pain in a** to load it up and take it to a repair shop. I enjoy doing maintenance and learning how things work!!
