The tank drain is a great idea. NorthStar is the only brand that ships with that option. The hitch pin plug is also good insurance.

Some Power Mates had drains on them, the 7500 did, but my 5500 don't till this week so I put one on it. Our old 1970's Powerkraft Monkey Wards Generator is RARE!!! Made for welders. The one I own has a vertical 16 horse v twin flat head on it, vertical generator, and is a 7800 watt. It's TALL, 44" tall. And has a fuel pump and long 6.8 gallon tank on its side. It has a drain, but I can't find a single part for a #33 flare valve LOL!

Good to see you back knocking around the compound there creating real-world survival solutions that don't break the bank. Your daughter's knowledge and enthusiasm is invaluable and I'm sure you thank God and pray for her well-being every day. Thanks and be well.

You will more likely have a drain down valve on a mower than a generator for some dumb reason. I got tired of stale fuel and Stabil ain't the only fix!

I started buying them as light tower power sources, what you would see on road construction and job sites. The 1200/1500 models. We would put over 6,000 hours on them, about 600 days use, 2 + working years, and then retire them. Each one in 2006 was only $109 compared to what we was using Homelite 1400w models that could not make it to 3000 hours without valve failures and cost $170 each. We ran 3 halogen 250 watt floods on each Champion powered tower and these just never stopped. The only failure is the governors would fail eventually. I still have 2 of the 29 I owned and they both still run. Not bad for $43 a day x 600 per unit renting them out. Thanks to Barry the Scammer O-Blame-A we no longer could operate in late 2011 due to his BS with the 2012 DOT contractor rules to 100% favor those who are "Not my skin color" folks for all such new contracts.

    Ah, my kind of modificating🤣
Love the 3 way as I've modified a friends 1970s homelite with a second tank to avoid leaving fuel in the steel tank when not needed and using a plastic tank for regular exercises.
As for the axillary line, I'd recommend adding a mikuni diaphragm fuel pump and a marine disconnect that has integrated check valve. Advantage to a marine disconnect is you can take the tank to a fuel station instead of a can. The marine cans also have a fuel level gadge as well.
The diaphragm fuel pump can pump fuel so you don't have to gravity feed.
I'll share a video link or you can search youtube WillyCK fuel pump and find the one I made for a tecumseh engine connected to a vac unit.

Interesting video! Since you are into solar, a small panel and simple charge controller added to the Gen set will keep your starter battery topped off. Gel cells tend to self discharge quite rapidly compared to lithium based batteries. As for the three way valve I did not see any mention of it in your side comments. I do like the idea of adding one to my genset. Trying to find a source for the propane conversion kit for my unit. Only issue is that if one uses the propane side in the cold winter months, you will need to find a way to keep the tank very warm. As the liquid propane in the tank evaporates into a gas, it cools down. If it gets too cold through excessive running during a power outage the gas pressure drops causing the propane regulator to shut off thinking the tank is empty. I also have seen there is a "new kid on the block" when it comes to refillable one pound tanks. Good quality, lower cost but the fill systems between them and the Flame King are incompatible. Wish I could remember the brand name but they are sold direct from their site and maybe on Amazon.

To keep the propane tank warm you can use a heated slip for them amzn.to/3NPsXwU that is 50 watts and will only be on during the run time of the generator. I used them in Idaho on 30 lb tanks with no issues.

Check with TEMU for cheap solar panels, about 10% less than Amazon and they direct ship from Renogy and HQST and others through temu. temu.to/k/u8v09vtfzof

I enjoy all your videos. The longer the better. Are the a.c. terminal covers different on the Yak 2000 & 3000 ? I'm digging my new 3000. Cover ain't fitting though.

    • @JOHNDANIEL1
      @JOHNDANIEL1  2 месяца назад +2

Yes, I had similar issue with where the screw tabs and holes were located so I just omitted it. Most have no covers but theirs is obviously a China or European cover for their voltage option of 2 terminals but ours being 3 terminals that "universal cover" don't fit right. Inverter is a good one though.

I maxed out my AFFIRM financing and got to stop buying stuff LOL! I do have a Powersmart I got for $133, another Erayak I got for $90 that I will do some videos on, that makes 7 generators ( 5 working, one to work again soon with some work on it ) I have now. Only 2 can go over 5500 watts though.

thats alot of hours on the genset, it must be good quality.
additional inline fuel filters = no more carby cleaning.

You are correct, And Kiera corrected me, we logged the oil changes and hours as best we could, she got out her note book and WOW, Accuracy is about 95% due to our own notes, It took 20 minutes to add up, but she has 3,133 hours, 13 oil changes, 2 spark plugs, one carburetor rebuild, a new starter, a few minor fixes since 2016 to it. That girl has 9 notebooks for random maintenance records.
