Elias totally agreed with you and she well deserved it again for Albert Nobbs but Academy decided to handle it to Miss Streep instead. To me Glenn Close is the greatest actress of our time following the steps of Bette Davis which in my opinion was the Greatest Actress in Hollywood and Stage.
Glenn Close as Norma Desmond is quite possibly the most amazing performance by an actress on Broadway that I have ever witnessed. If you have the opportunity, you have to go see her!
I love Glenn Close. She's so talented, acclaimed and just a wonder of the entertainment industry, but you would never know it to talk to her because she's so relaxed, laid back and just a cool lady. Definitely a friend in my head!
Saw her last April at the Coliseum when she came to London. Probably one of, what am I saying, IT WAS THE BEST show I've ever seen. We were fortunate enough to gets tickets early & was four rows back..center of the stage. And needless to say Glenn close was absolutely phenomenal.
Miss Close is THE stage Normada Desmond.!. Born for this powerful role. Every movement. Every nuance is perfectly defined as the character. An amazing and giving actress. Sunset Boulevard is an awesome version of a movie. One of the most relevant stories ever told on screen and in theatre. Bravo to all you people out there...in the dark
I saw both productions. She was great in the 90s, but in 2017, she was supercalifragilisticexpialidocious great. The characterization was deeper and more powerful and more complex. What can one say? She's one of our most talented actors.
I saw her performance a few weeks ago! It was FANTASTIC !!! Could NOT have been any better!!!! LOVED IT and LOVED HER, and I had seen it before and played the Original Cast recording for 23 years. Still was so fabulous that I actually cried !!!
Guys, if you can, go see this musical on Broadway! I was lucky enough to see the London production four times! Glenn Close is stunning as Norma Desmond.
I would give anything to see Glenn be Norma, I have the CD with her in it, and I've seen her at the Royal Albert Hall; Would give anything to see her live as Norma!
Haha, I know I'm beyond lucky to have watched such an amazing performance multiple times. I even got her autograph at the stage door after my second visit. She's so graceful.
I saw Sunset Boulevard in Hollywood three time back in 1994. Amazing performance by the entire cast. Loved every minute of it. Would love to see it one more time.
I had the honor of sitting third row at The Palace Theater to see this. It was an incredible show and Ms. Close's performance just solidified what an incredibly talented actor she is.
Glen Close and amzing actress and cetainly has been the best Norma Desmond. Saw her on the last night in London Colliseum in April and again on Braodway. Absolutely fantastic. I hope one day she will perform this again . Never been anyone like her
Glenn Close , the GREATEST star of the stage and scene , as NORMA DESMOND is the GREATEST combination of ALL! 🌟. 👑. Like NORMA, Glenn appreciated her fans. When this production was closing, I sent a request to the theater for an autographed photo 📸. Glenn graciously sent one, autographed specifically 😎 to me. THAT is a GREAT 🌟 STAR 🌟! ! 🏆. 👑
As far vas Norma Desmond goes, she actually gets better the older she gets...And judging from that interview, she seems a nice and down-to-earth person. I think that guy who filmed Cats ought to have given it a shot and let her play Grizabella...Nothing against Jennifer Hudson, her interpretation of Memory is excellent, and I can understand why they took her (her Oscar for Dreamgirls), but Grizabella was originally intended for an older actress (Judi Dench was 47 when she was cast in the rolem just coiuldn't take it because she tore her achilles tendon) and on one level, the character is not really that different from Norma... That being said, she is by far my favorite Norma, she's the only one who makes me believe in her being a "has been", but she's also able to show you the great star that Norma once was, and do it convincingly. She knows when to "overdo" and when not do - unless another Norma I'm familiar with.
If you had seen the show you'd see she can sing...she is probably one of the few Hollywood actresses with no botox or face-lifts. You can see her lines and facial expressions on stage. She aged very gracefully.
You need glasses if you think she hasn't had a facelift or botox...and hearing aids if you think she sings well....and graceful aging does not mask that there is no way on earth that face would become the greatest star of the silent screen...
1. Shes SO OLD to play this role. 2. She's a bad singer to lead a musical. 3. Her acting is basic, no better than most in Hollywood, who are all, yes, basic. This is SO horrible, that Webber chooses such a low-class stage performance.
I still can't believe Glenn Close doesn't have an Oscar yet. A travesty.
Doesn't need one...
Dusty Larsen she'll get it. just wait😉
Well, she has 3 or 4 Tonys.
I guess that's pretty darn good!!!
MrCristoforoantonio yes, Sir. She has 3 Tony awards. An Oscar anybody with luck gets it, a Tony only talented people earn it.
Glenn is flat out fantastic. I had a chance to meet her backstage last Saturday night. She's an incredible actress and a terrific person.
If you come back here please check out my post for another incident.

I agree 100%

One of the 'Best Preformers' of our time. I've seen her on stage. Magnificent.

I love Glenn Close. She's so talented, acclaimed and just a wonder of the entertainment industry, but you would never know it to talk to her because she's so relaxed, laid back and just a cool lady. Definitely a friend in my head!

they did a recording with Glenn as Norma. She's impeccable.
I saw her 22 years ago in LA, and I saw her this past Saturday night in NYC. She has only gotten better! Phenomenal, mesmerizing on every level.
Christina Stork I would if I could, believe me, I'm in California and don't have the money 😭😭😭

My lover was friends with her at William and Mary. She was legendary then, she’s in a galaxy of her own now. Her talent astonishes me.
Saw her last night, she was amazing
Please make the film version so that she can get an Oscar!

Such a great woman you are GC

Very nice...
You own that character. Glenn...Best NORMA ever...!
Glenn Close=National Treasure.
miss her pretty soft curly hair...still looks good though.
Very relevant indeed. Look at celebrities like Madonna who desperately stays youthful by doing plastic surgery. It’s truly sad.
*has come home at LAAAAAAAAAAAAAST
Why... everything's as if she never said goodbye.
I love it when you get to see the looming, smiling face projection at the end. So creepy!
What are these Questions? Eek...
Matt is so phony and his by-the-number questions are irritating.
TimeIdle true. Don't miss him at all.
I'll look forward to seeing you on the Today Show then, since it sounds like you think you can do a much better job.
Glenn Close is great but I also love Patti Lupone, who shouldn't have been fired.
💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯
Matt is cute
Wonder if she supports him now??
What happened to the couch
Was this before Mr. Lauer fell from grace?
Matt worm
Mat lauer 🤮
Take this video down, he is an women s abuser. WTF! PTSD is no joke.
Ew Matt Lauer
She looks like Robin Williams
I don't think she does, but she did play Robin Williams' mother in The World According to Garp.
Sorry to say but Matt is also irreplaceable.
god dam thats a man geln close is a freaking man!!!!!!! man neck man hands
If only she could sing...maybe caused because she can't open her mouth from facelifts and botox....
