You are a great teacher. Your videos give a vision of being able to how to better use my voice again. I sang for 25 years in a Theatre group in my church. Today I’m older haven’t sang in over 30 years. I’m 76 years old, live in an adult community in NJ and have been invited to sing with a band in our Music Club last summer. I hesitated. Came across your videos and have been watching and practicing since. You are helping me so much to develop my voice. One song I’ll be singing in April is “Crazy” by Patsy Kline. I did so many scales from other teachers.. It was sooo upsetting ! I was experiencing squeezeeee on ascend, while on descent very little. I felt like incapath ! I can't believe I just found you. I've been on youtube for years looking for teachers. I love the way you teach and explain in detail. You helped me see I was pronouncing some things incorrectly. You are amazing thank you.
I also enjoy listening to these videos. I’ve been told for years that I’m a good singer, and often asked if I’d taken voice lessons, mostly because I learned to sing with some diaphragm support and breathe properly when I was in my teens-meaning people could hear me, and I articulated words well so they could understand me. But after about 7 or 8 months of voice lessons, I’ve made huge improvements already. I confess I don’t warm up as much as I should. It doesn’t help that I’m very busy and often practice my songs while doing dishes or driving ( 😳 ) and I struggle with changing the key from one phrase to the next if I don’t have accompaniment (my ear is miles ahead of where it was when I was little and couldn’t sing on tune to save my life, but it’s not perfect). Still, I will try to do more vocal warmups and such between weekly music lessons.
Oh my! I just love you. You are beautiful, elegant, and a perfect mix of straightforward and warm. I needed this. I used to be able to sing, but my shyness got the best of me. A few minutes with you and I have already seen progress.
I took a group voice class in college, in which I discovered that if I came late to class and missed the "warmups" I could still sing. The "warmups" that teacher gave just made singing more difficult. I think he had cast iron vocal folds, which could handle anything without damage, but my apparatus is merely human flesh.

Hi Victoria! Thank you so much for this series! I’ve always wanted to learn how to sing, but almost no one else on the internet teaches learning in a healthy way. I’m glad to have found your channel! I do have a question: Why is it that we should practice descending scales first? What about them warms up the voice so we can sing ascending scales more comfortably?
@@Victoria-Victorious I must’ve missed the words “as you ascend” after “if you don’t warm up properly, you will squeeze and lift” 😂 Thank you for the quick answer!
Who knew there was so much involved with singing? I used to sing and had always been told I had a beautiful strong voice...then after many mouth surgeries and braces then covid my singing voice was gone. It was hard to just talk. Took a very long time just to be able to breath in deeply without coughing. This all took places for about 5 years. I missed singing even if it was while washing dishes or feeding the birds. Then one day I attempted to sing. It was not a pretty thing. Where was my singing voice? Could not hold a note or even stay on key. NEVER imagined I would not have a singing voice. Little by little I am exercising those vocal chords and want to properly learn how to sing. I'm 60 years old but still believe one can develop a lovely strong singing voice. Yes, a teacher would be the way to go but sadly some of us don't have the liberty or the support by a spouse to do that so your videos are so life changing and important to me. Thank you. I'm so grateful your here. God bless.
Hi Victoria, You are an amazing teacher❣ I love how clearly you break down information. I'm curious about whether you will recommend warm ups based on your analysis of my singing 😅 I'm planning to send a video through your website.😁
Hello Victoria. I just found you and am intrigued by your lessons. I sing randomly at events and am thankful for your daily warmups. I'll check out your website. Thank you!
Thank you!!! For some reason I have been sure of if I sing through couple of exercise videos a day , that I'll improve. I have now made notes and will make a playlist with warm ups and the right kind of ecercises that I need ... Thank you for breaking my ignorance, soon gonna have my first gig and the only way is upwards!!! 😁
Hi Victoria. Love all the advice. I have a question: if I have a lot of jaw/tongue tension, shouldn't I do scales with targeted exercises first before doing regular scales with humming/open throat vowels? I already feel tense when I just warm up with regular scales first - and this is just scales within my normal speaking range - so I feel like I'm reinforcing bad habits, then trying to "fix" them by doing the targeted exercises after. It seems to make more sense for me to warmup by relieving tension first, but I'd like to know your thoughts on this.
Oh sure! Do what works best for your voice! Good for you for being aware of it. Also, if you are short on time, you can combine your jaw and tongue exercises with your warmups. I do this with my students in lessons. Keep watching for my instructional exercise program that will have hundreds of exercise combinations for just about every vocal need.
I believe when you practice a technique where you use your muscles, little daily exercise can make a big difference, because then you don’t get tired. Good technique can’t be learned when you are tired. Therefore 10 minutes a day, six days in a week sounds very smart!
Thank you so much mam I was searching this kind of video because I cannot find vocal teacher where I live so I am very grateful towards u hope I will achieve my goal my singing session start from today and you are my vocal teacher

I wanted to sound good when composing my own songs so I took a chance and I must say I love your exercises. I been practicing your warm ups at home, on my way to work and back in my car. the Ebook led me here. Love your teaching methods madame. Thank you
I’ve bought your wonderful vocal program & I have a question. I know you’ve mentioned the importance of practicing vocal exercises that focus on the passaggio every day. How do I find those exercises on your vocal program? Thank you kindly. You rock! 😻
Since each exercise covers 2 1/2 octaves, it travels right through your passaggio. The key is to be aware of where your passaggio is and you can feel it if you really focus on it. I will add passaggio exercises to the program. I put it on my list! Make sure that you follow my playlist on the Vocal Bridge that includes exercises.
@@Victoria-Victorious Wonderful! Thank you for writing back, I really appreciate it. I’m going to do those scales today from your magnificent vocal program & enjoy the vocal bridge videos as well. You rock! 😻

My question is if I've never done vocal exercises and am just starting to get serious about improving my singing, which vocal exercise should I start with? Thank you for wram up tips.

Your videos are very helpful! Glad I found your RUclips channel 😊Any tips on preventing voice cracking going into the higher notes? I feel like that transition is a bit difficult for me
Hi Victoria, thanks for your video! I am a bit confused regarding the difference between set up and warm up. In the begining you mentioned what's warm up, which seems to be similar to the content in "Beginner Singing Practice-You top three goals" video. But I don't get what is vocal set up. Can you help me with a simple explanation on it?
Warm-ups prepare your voice for singing. Set-ups is a term I use, meaning specific targeted exercises that deal with your particular needs, such as technical or as needed for the song. Big difference. I talk about this a lot in my videos. See my playlists on vocal exercises and also on singing practice. My audio exercise training program has tons of specific targeted exercises.
Hi Victoria. Thanks so much for this video. It has been very helpful. The vocal exercises I have from my teacher take about 45 minutes to do and I find them quite straining on the voice (probably because I'm doing them wrong). Also, I'm a bit hoarse after doing the exercises and going through my 7 songs that I'm working on. What can I do about this? Another problem is that I'm worried about disturbing the neighbours because all of this is very loud. I'm stuck. I've been thinking of parking my car at the park and doing my exercises there. But why do I feel that these exercises are straining?
I cannot give an opinion on the exercises that your teacher gave you because I don't know what they are or how you are doing them. Hoarseness is always a red flag and should be addressed. See my playlist on Throat Tension. If you are pushing up too much vocal weight and shouting, see my playlist on the Mixed Voice. Finally, if you are concerned about your neighbors, it would be better to find a place where you can practice freely. I do have videos on quiet singing too.

I love you tnx for making these videos 👌😍😍😍😘
just became a paid member.. been wanting to sing for a while but did not know where to start. I play piano and guitar and I produce my own music. I wanted to sound good when composing my own songs so I took a chance and I must say I love your exercises. I been practicing your warm ups at home, on my way to work and back in my car. the Ebook led me here. Love your teaching methods madame. Thank you
Great! I’m so happy to read this! Thank you for posting.
You rock! 😻
Hello Victoria! I have a concern regarding my itchy throat and cough always pops out when I sing 😭 Can you give me an advice 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼 please
Yes. I know you commented on my newest video on this subject. What you describe sounds like vocal strain. Watch the videos in this playlist and do the exercises: Throat, Tongue & Jaw Tension in Singing - Free up your Voice! ruclips.net/p/PLaWjWxiTysDDDSGygoVWRk_IfZeFI71aj .

I'm a new subscriber to your channel and just signed up for the newsletter on your website. I used to play and sing, but after seeing some of your videos, I've realized that I didn't know what I was doing. My question is if I've never done vocal exercises and am just starting to get serious about improving my singing, which vocal exercise should I start with? Thank you for wram up tips.
I recommend 2 things. Follow my Playlist for Beginning Singers (see my channel page) and for a more exercise routine, become a member of my audio exercise training program. I have a section for beginners. www.healthyvocaltechnique.com/order-victorias-victorious-vocal-exercise-program/

Start at 2:20
Chapters are already marked.
@Healthy Vocal Technique Thank you so much for letting me know. The chapters didn't show up on my phone , luckily it does on my laptop.
In ukulele choir, we warm up our hands, but we don't warm up our voices... yeah... need to change that.
@@Victoria-Victorious Thanks so much for your wonderful advice, as always.
