I think he has to be. Can't make money with music itself anymore so now you have to make the money "around" the music. IMO the man is wicked smart. I don't think its a coincidence that his product output has seemingly doubled during the pandemic and he seems to be thriving. While many other "normally touring" musicians are severely struggling to keep afloat and doing things like live streams, with some even begging for donations just to pay their rent. You can't be "just" a musician anymore. I mean you can, be but it doesn't seem like the way to go, especially after the pandemic. If people are not gonna pay for music anymore, and with the future state of touring and live performance largely unknown and likely changed forever, you got turn into a salesman just to make a living. The time we are in. Gotta diversify.
Picks are important. I want a specific pick that hasn't been offered yet. Artists make it possible for us to get licks that we otherwise wouldn't get ourselves. For instance I love thick picks, the jazz III sharpness but the prime tone material. Unfortunately there is no 1.5-2mm prime tone jazz III that's just a little bigger than a jazz III but not as big as a normal tortex. Maybe there will be an artist who has a similar taste and that would offer me a way to get w pick that's more to my liking.
Misha is basically a brand himself at this point, he shows something or says he likes something, people want it. You gotta respect the hard work and grind he’s had to do, no wonder this guy has nice cars, he deserves them 👍🏻
I always find it funny to remember back to when periphery bitched they made barely any money and then their manager came out and went “well yeah you guys are too proud and don’t play crowd pleasers or do signature/colab deals” now flash forward and we have periphery sig guitars, pickups, picks, VST amp, real amp, OD pedal, drum VST and no doubt some others I’ve missed.
Honestly this is interesting, I love the James' white fang pick, but it's really soft and the tip basically disappears in minutes. I'm definitely "pick"ing some of these up
I love the donlop green picks.. made my day when I got a dimebag Darrell pick from a damage plan show in myrtle Beach sc house of blues and discovered he used the same! Picks absolutely make a difference.. I use different types depending on the style of music I am playing with someone
Marigold is my favourite Misha riff. I need some of these. I'm also a backwards picker like Misha used to be. I tried changing, but nah, I'm stuck up-side-down. I think this will work for me. I've been favouring a green Delrin in that size for a while, I think this will be similar.
Tortex jazz iii XL’s have been my go to for a while now. Normal delrin is just too slippery for me. The ultex jazz iii XL’s are really good as well if you want a brighter tone.
I used to play with a 2.0...then I discovered I had way more attack with a 1.0 and apply less force...but something was missing...till i tried using the Green gauge and all dynamics woke up instantly, it was more expressive 🤟🏽😇
I played EJ’s Jazz 3’s for years and loved them. You might want to try out the Dunlop Prime Tone 1.4. Very similar in size and thickness but I just like the textured feel on it. I’ve been playing them for about 2 years now and it’s now my favorite.
Cant find anywhere to buy! Ordered Hatfield WhiteFang instead. If your string goes sharp try Evertune and pick as hard as you want without changes in intonation. Its incredible you have to try it at least.
Interesting, I found I liked the pitch black .73 over the similar yellow because it felt it had a bit more bite and snap. I like the idea of a more flexible and more durable pick. Need to try.
To all the people who are bashing on this concept of working on a signature pick, you really don't know how much it makes a difference. Seriously, quit trolling and give it a thought.
I played it and I wish they made a 1mm version. The .73 is a bit too flubby but besides that these picks are great. The best shape I’ve used so far. If they made Ultex versions of these then I’ll back huge packs.
Everyone: Nooooo, you can't play metal on the strat!!!! (tears) Misha: Haha, strat does duuu-jent, prrr, prrr, bananaaaa, bananaaaaa, duuuu-jent, dd-d-d-d-jent d-jent!
for me the thing that makes the most diference is betwen a pointy pick vs a round pick, cant go back to rounds. love to see him have a signature pick, hope is no at an stupid price tho
That’s interesting. I have to disagree. The difference in material makes a huge difference to my ear. A more “slippery” material with a lighter gauge sounds WAY different to a tortex Dunlop or a jazz iii. In fact a tortex pick just always has this scratchy sound that I used to really like and now I can’t stand it. Anyway, try experimenting with different picks. Every time I think I have found the one pick I’ll ever need I find something else a while later that totally changes my view.
Misha Mansoor is one of the hardest working salesman of our time
Just about to say... This man has a signature everything.
True that!!

i love all his little skits/ads
"The oxygen I breathe is such a MASSIVE part of my playing. Breath my awesome signature air, available at your local Guitar Center now!"
Your pick pick attack and pick make a big difference to tone.. Thickness of the pick especially. Not saying a signature pick will get you the tone.
lmaooo

@@chrisking6695 You can make custom guitar picks at d'addario, I'm not sure how that works though.
Just waiting on the Misha Mansoor signature knobs, locking tuners and nuts
Is that what you're waiting for? Misha's nuts? Lol suit yourself
And also signature pickguard tone screws.
I'm pretty sure he only has two of those and can't sell em right now.

Misha's Infinity Stones (i mean, signatures) completed!!?
I switched to jazz IIIs recently and it changed my actual life. I also got an iron age custom pick which was sick. Good picks make a giant difference
There is nothing worse than the sound of someone playing with a non endorsed pick.
This is the only way to make money in music these days
The Flow picks are truly revelation for me! Tried them once and never went back.
Waiting for all the fanbois’ heads to explode when they realize Misha isn’t using anything thicker than a .73mm
IMO the flow is the best pick ever designed. Perfect shape and I genuinely like using every thickness available.
agreed

Just ordered some. I'm always stoked to try new picks and the Flow shape is excellent!
@Intrepid Design I got them from the Dunlop site.

Great video with no link to purchase from interesting way to market.
I gottta say the flows are some the best pics you can play
I love my precision drive for sure. Use it every time I play. But my personal pick of choice is the ernie ball prodigy black picks.
They used dying star as the background music!
that intro riff is sick!
Thats Marigold, my friend ;)

Nice. Looks to have a lot in common with the picks at the Horizon Devices NAMM booth, which were really really nice 🙌

That pic actually looks really good...
Nice Flow design! And it's bright in color so I can find it!
To those of us out there with "Tosin Thumb" hitting the strings flat with a pick is basically impossible. Haha. I still wanna try these picks though!
i know! it sucks sometimes lol
awesome! might try em out but I love my EJ Jazz 3s too much.

The Billy Mays of our time
All them paragraphs describing what misha already said but no link to purchase the pick ?

misha also entered the watch game xD is that a rolex he‘s wearing? i like!
yes indeed. the hulk. hard to find these days.
that‘s the Dying Star riff!
Damn, Im stuck on the Flow 1.35 MMs lol. Anyone remember those Dava "control" pics? from light to heavy depending on how you held it?
I used Dava for quite awhile, still have a bunch.
That background sounds like the demo thing Jake did for ggd. I wonder if it’ll end up in PV
I felt this coming
Can we talk about the floyd rose firebird with the strat neck!??

This is all the reason I love the Gator grip ones just wish they could make them wear slower but otherwise I love the 1.14mm I use mainly❤
Tortex IS delrin with a matte finish, right? So, how are these different from the equivalent gauge tortex Flow picks?
I played it and I wish they made a 1mm version. The .73 is a bit too flubby but besides that these picks are great. The best shape I’ve used so far. If they made Ultex versions of these then I’ll back huge packs.
There’s Ultex Flow picks in .73 up to like 2 or 3mm. Flow Standards are what you are looking for.
@@genesnodgrass Funny enough I started just using the Ultex 1.0 Flow recently.
@@theders8590 The tortex flow 1.0 would be most similar to Misha's pick, since Tortex is a Delrin material. The Ultex ones are cool too!
