  • You wouldn't think that something as small as the slide lock lever could make such a big difference… in so many areas.
    Lenny explains the importance and functionality of the Slide Lock Lever in general and our new Precision Extended Slide Lock Lever, #1069, in particular.

    Such a helpful video. So, I have always been a Smith & Wesson guy, but I just purchased a Glock 40 Gen 4 10mm about a week ago. I took it out to shoot it for the first time today. I came home and cleaned it, and didn't know about the depressed trigger position before you put the slide back on thing. I couldn't get my slide on for about 20 minutes! Eventually I played with it enough to realize that the trigger had to be pulled back before the slide went on! Thank you for telling us new Glock owners this!

    This little peace actually does make the gun a little bit more accurate at 15yd I tested this with factory and then with this I noticed I had a tighter group, there is less play in the barrel when in battery thus making the gun more consistent.

    Hey Lenny, great videos as always. I don't see one for the G44 take down lever, its a little different from the other Gen 5 models. I just changed one on my wife's new G44. I used a Gen 5 replacement lever from your shop although I see people posting that G44 vs other Gen 5s are not really the same Glock OEM part number. The G44 seems a rather different beast although good for my wife to learn to shoot before we go back to 9mm.

    The setup for the spring that the slide release lever sits on is different in a Gen5 Glock 17 MOS. So that leads me to wonder what comments you might have about any potential improvements already existent in Glock's Gen5 slide release lever over the Gen you're using. Do you still think your slide release lever is better than the one now provided in the Gen5? Also, considering the different spring design (it looks like a tiny coil spring) on the Gen5 slide release, I'm also wondering if it might be more difficult now to change out the release lever. Looks to me like the tiny little coil spring in the Gen5 version would be an easy item to pop out unexpectedly, never to be seen or found again, lol. Thanks for any insights and info, much appreciated. Always enjoy your videos. :)

    The "unnamed competitor" to which Lenny keeps referencing ("genmtly knocking" is more like it), of course is Galloway Precision that sells a stamped take-down lever that is 4mm wider than stock. No, it is not machined like Glock's super take-down lever, is NOT thicker than stock, and does not have a curved top to catch the barrel (not the slide). It does get slammed every time you fire the gun, so there may be something to having an effect on barrel return being more consistent because, as I said, it catches the barrel - not the slide.
    While it is thicker, it is only 1mm wider, and although it may not be a problem on the Glock, it definitely is the problem on the SD9VE Glock 17 Clone. I wish to God that S&W copied the leaf spring design of the Glock L-shaped leaf spring instead of making an S-shaped leaf spring that rests on top of a U-shaped spring, and does slide from side to side.
    Why in tyhe Hell they didn't make a simple L-spring and stick one end in a frame slot and put the other end under the notched takedown lever - a la Glock.
    In fact, why is Glock using a longer leaf spring support end in the G19 than in the bigger G17? The longer leaf spring support does just that5 - give the spring more support.
    The dumb arrangement in S&W's SDxVE series uses a useless U-spring that adds nothing to the takedown lever operation, BUT, in factr, messes it up!!!
    Which is why I made this video to show a different way to take down the Glock clones and also the real Glocks:
    ruclips.net/video/3UJXs-XV_jM/видео.html

    • @TheDrRJP
      @TheDrRJP 9 лет назад

      TheDrRJP BTW, will this work in Smith & Wesson's SDxVE series?
      If you look at the photos on Galloway's website, the takedown levers for both the Glocks and SDxVE's look identical.
      For that matter, so does the "captured recoil spring/stainless steel guide rod" combos. Are they also interchangeable?

    I'll disagree with Mr. Ridgeway in his assessment of Glock aftermarket parts and why they exist. He states that Glock aftermarket parts exist to make Glocks functional. I disagree by saying this gun is perfectly acceptable for the general public exactly as produced. Guns that are popular and most numerous are the perfect platform for aftermarket products that make a gun fully customized for the owner. The more of any gun there is out there, it is reasonable to say there are more folks out there who want a gun "their" way, or customized to their tastes. Glocks are the perfect platform to modify as you choose, or simply shoot straight from the box.

    • @MasterToan
      @MasterToan 8 лет назад

      Exactly. Hard to beat a Glock's reliability and longevity out of the box. None of the endless number of mods available are necessities.

    • @whatNtarnation90
      @whatNtarnation90 7 лет назад

      Having slightly sweaty hands makes a couple parts of the glock extremely hard to use, like the slide release and this part. I have custom parts for both and it makes the gun MUCH better.

    To say a new slide lock lever will provide better accuracy is frankly marketing bullshit.

    • @Conklikov
      @Conklikov 8 лет назад +2

      +dkeberhard as far as any noticeable accuracy gains, probably not, but when you stack more precise items up, even with little amounts, it can and will add up. This part alone probably wont do, much for ya, but in conjunction with a new precise barrel, Recoil spring assembly, a adjustable trigger with new precision internal striker components, it may make a huge difference, but the thing is most people cant probably shoot it to that kind of accuracy,

    • @sek5570
      @sek5570 3 года назад

      Will it not lock the barrel more consistently? In that case it would give better accuracy in theory, but the aversge shooter would probably have other accuracy issues to worry about before this will be of any significant value

    You unloaded the gun wrong! If you had a live round in that chamber and accidently pulled the trigger, you could of shot some fingers off! Plus you never grab from front of the slide like that! Even if there is front slide serrations, you don't grab from the front! That's a bad memory habit! Sorry but people do look at videos like this for education purposes!

    • @Castellan_Chris
      @Castellan_Chris 10 лет назад +3

      So what he did was unload the magazine, rack the slide back to visually check if there is a round inside, and pulled the trigger in a safe direction after he visually confirmed there is no round inside. You are telling me that is the wrong way to safety check? You also realize that you press check by using the front serrations right. Thats the only way to press check to see if you got a round in the chamber without having to turn your gun horizontally. I think you should research more and become a better "Know it all-er" before adding your two cents, thanks.

    • @Thunder-RanchTV
      @Thunder-RanchTV 10 лет назад

      ***** Hey let me tell you something! Do your research and tell me that those serrations on the front of a glock are there and not only that those serrations are not there for unloading a gun! For one you never put your hand or hands in front of muzzle! When you unload you unload with rear serrations and not the front! Some people have blown fingers off like that! So tell me about safety first idiot! I'm a police officer and we never un load a gun like that! And we never check to see if there is a round in it like that! Go put your two cents some were else! You troll!

    • @Castellan_Chris
      @Castellan_Chris 10 лет назад +1

      Ok pig. Don't press check. Don't use front serrations. If they are so dangerous wonder why anyone even puts them on slides. You realise your fingers are nowhere near the front muzzle right but on the side of the slides. You being a police officer and needing me to tell you basic info on how to safety check, really gives me confidence in our law enforcement. This is the internet. Let's leave it to the people to decide wether to follow my advice or your ticket writing ass advice.

    • @Thunder-RanchTV
      @Thunder-RanchTV 10 лет назад

      ***** It was originally done on competition guns for the guys who were running scopes on their pistols. You couldn't grip the rear of the slide because the scope and mount were in the way, therefore they put serrations on the front so that they could rack the slide. Because front slide serrations were associated with high dollar competition guns, manufacturers began moving the feature onto production models in hopes of that association influencing buyers to purchase their products. For a normal user they don't serve any practical purpose that the rear slide serrations didn't already do. They have unfortunately become pretty common place and now people expect them on a lot of guns so we end up with ugly, holster chewing front serrations on our guns.

    • @Thunder-RanchTV
      @Thunder-RanchTV 10 лет назад

      ***** this give me confidence in our public that really don't know what there talking about obviously! Hmm! See my point!? And when you are in dying need of assistance from law enforcement don't call the cops just do it yourself! You have all the bullets you need help apparently! Smh! But you still didn't answer my question smart ass! Now do glocks have serrations on them?

    ANOTHER AFTER MARKET PART FOR A GLOCK TO MAKE IT FUNCTION PROPERLY-OUT OF THE BOX. HAVE YOU EVER SEEN A PISTOL THAT IS IN NEED OF SO MANY UPGRADES RIGHT OU OF THE BOX? IF THIS FIREARM OPERATED LIKE IT IS SUPPOSED TO PLACES LIKE THE GLOCK STORE, GLOCK WORLD, ROCK YOUR GLOCK AND GLOCK MIESTER JUST TO NAME A FEW WOULDN'T EXIST! UPGRADED BARRELS, EXTENDED SLIDE LOCK LEVERS, FIRING PINS, MAGAZINE RELEASE BUTTONS,,, THE LIST IS ENDLESS TO BRING THIS PIECE OF "PERFECTION" UP TO PAR. DON'T BELIEVE ME?, JUST PUNCH IN "GLOCK PROBLEMS", SIT BACK AND BECOME ELLIGHTENED.

    • @Conklikov
      @Conklikov 8 лет назад +1

      +Mark Ridgway you must be very ill informed, does every time some gets a ar 15 that is basic milspec furniture, and upgrades to magpul grips, stocks, new barrels, calibers, different safeties, different magazines and so forth, that ar 15 is a non functioning piece of junk. Not at all, it will work right out of the box, just fine. Its a popular gun with alot of aftermarket support so people can change a stock basic design to better fit their needs. Smith and wesson, XD to name a few have aftermarket parts as well. Check springer precision, galloway precision, apex tactical., they make numerous parts for other manufacturers. Glock is perfection by no means, no gun is perfect, I wish they would drop that slogan, and move on to something more realistic, but that apart, the glock pistol is sold often, used often, by alot of people, police departments, and military armies around the world. Also want to note, look how many different companies make a 1911, make 1911 parts. It must be junk because not everyone leaves theirs stock by your logic, a 1972 camaro, must be junk because manufacturers make aftermarket parts such as rims, edelbrock carb and so forth. Your logic on this topic is flawed , say what you will about glock, but I am just fine with my glock as a bone stock pistol, but I bought a Glock 40 10mm auto for use on whitetail deer. Could I leave it bone stock and be just fine, yes, I like sights that are stock on a glock I am fine with their use of polymer on lots of aspects of the gun. But I am going to put a new trigger bar, new adjustable trigger, a ported barrel, and a steel recoil assembally because I am going to push my glock to the limits, beyond what normal people would do with it, I will put hot loads capable of more energy than a 357 magnum and edging on a 41 magnum. I like revolvers, Heck I got a ruger super redhawk in 454 casull, That I probably will skip over this year to use the glock, because I will have it so honed down with a short crisp trigger, with a red dot reflex sight, I will have no problems. Dont care if it cant shoot 1000 rounds with no stopages, I want my view of perfection and a store like GlockStore, or lone wolf, is going to help me get there. Because in the end, everyones views on perfection are different.
      PS also on a side note, Why be a dick to other gun companies and people that might have different beliefs than you! We are all gun owners and come from all walks of life. We dont need division amongst ourselves we need to stick together because our rights are threatened every day by people that dont care about our, hobbies or our rights to protect ourselves. I for one am happy for every gun company around that can help bring new interest to the sport, hobby, and everyday people. So if you dont like something, shut your pie hole and dont purchase, just be happy someone is buying more guns and products to keep the industry going.
