I'd say the reason why you had no issues is because the 16710 was offered with all three different insert colors during its production run. Same for switching bands. Where everyone runs into issues with RSC is when they bring (or send) a model in and ask for something that the model didn't come with during its run. I own the GMT 16700 which was available until 1999 and ran along with the 16710 GMT II however If I asked for a Coke insert they would almost assuredly not sell me one because the 16700 was only offered in black and Pepsi.

Yes RSC returns your original bezel, just clarify that with them when you're there. Ordering from an AD, I don't know. I would guess not, based on what I've heard. But that may totally depend on your relationship with them.
Great information! I myself have a 2008 16610lv (kermit) and I dropped off the watch at my local AD which has an authorized Rolex Watchmaker on site. They quoted me 6 weeks there so I figured I'd get it done there. They called me the other day notifying me that I would not be able to get the Green Bezel Insert replaced there and it would have to be sent off to Dallas. If I went to the RSC in NY with my watch on hand, would they be able to get it replaced?
Thanks man! Tbh, idk. My guess is, it's such a unique/rare bezel to have just lying around, RSC NYC might also need to send it somewhere. But they might just order it for you. That's something they do with bracelets and Pepsi/Coke bezels. Worth a visit.

Thanks for another great informative video! Regarding swapping bezels and bracelets. Is there a way to check what the original bezel and bracelet was for a specific watch? Because I think the Rolex paperwork only states serial number and date info?
Thanks Tom! Great question. If you're lucky enough to still have the hangtag, it'll say the bezel color. For example mine says 16710LN. If you don't have it (and I know this because I did this with my PREVIOUS P-serial Pepsi) you can bring it to RSC to have a "diagnosis", during which they'll take your watch to the back and inspect it, and then tell you what they would do if you wanted it serviced. Before they bring it to the back, specifically ask them "do you know if this was BORN a Pepsi?" The technician in the back will have access to that info and they'll tell you.
Great info. and glad to hear! Guess I’ll just go direct to RSC if possible. I asked my AD about getting a Pepsi bezel for my gmt, which is currently coke. She said no they won’t and only replace it w/what it originally was. So naturally I just said ya it originally was a Pepsi, knowing full well there’s no way for them to tell w/out papers and the watch alone and then she flipped and said oh then that’s fine, they’ll do it haha.
Haha wow, nice one! Yeah that's what I recommend to anyone who's having trouble getting the jubilee bracelet if they already have the Oyster, or vise versa: bring the watch to RSC on a cheap leather strap.
Thanks Paul! Yeah I'll keep the oyster, but idk if they'll charge me a fee for keeping it. I might bring it in on a cheap leather strap to avoid that charge.

Hey man, thank you! RSC will definitely service it, but idk if you WANT to bring it to them. They will replace everything they can to try to make it wearable again. If the watch is not collectible, then that's fine. But if it IS collectible, you don't want important parts like the dial, hands, case, and bracelet replaced.
Yeah I think I’ll bring it to my local watchmaker. It’s a Date-Day from the mid 70s. I had it service a couple of years ago and it was fine until recently. Probably just needs freshening up. Thanks for the tip!
My pleasure! Yeah I mean, it wouldn't hurt to bring it to RSC for a diagnosis. They'll tell you exactly what they plan to repair/replace, and then you have the options to accept or decline the service.
great informative video! I had my eyes set on a YM40 rhodium this year but now I'm considering flip flopping and looking at Sophia Lorens/16760's. Just love that serif bezel and IIRC the all black and pepsi bezels on 16710's also fit. Maybe the YM in 2022 and Fat Lady in 2023 if prices stabilize
Nice! For me, the thicker case of the Fat Lady would bother me, and I'd know that there's a more streamlined version out there in the 16710. Why not get a 16710? You can put a serif fat font coke in there. In fact, that's exactly what I did today, and my next video will show it.
@@DrRolexPhD There are actually some nuances of the Fat Lady that I'm not sure are available on the 16710. 1. Mark 1 dial on 16760 with "Oyster Perpetual" under Rolex sans "Date" 2. open 6 and 9 on the date wheel plus I like something a little off the beaten path, kind of like the YM40 vs sub and the rhodium vs the blue YM
Very interesting video - much cheaper than I thought for the pepsi bezel. Grey market is maybe 3-4 times higher - and may be fake. Did you ask how much for a jubilee bracelet for the 16710. Best regards from Norway - with a Coke
Thank you! I know right? The grey market is WAY too high for these bezels. Just get them from RSC for half the price. And the jubilee bracelet is going to be about 1200 usd. I ordered it yesterday from RSC.
Glad you manage to get the pepsi bezel without any issue. RSC in my country (far east) doesn't allow you to purchase bezel other than the one that came with the watch. However, they allow you to purchase different bracelet though

@@DrRolexPhD Thanks for the info. Sounds like the difference is that you went to a RSC and I went to a local AD. What irked me was that the salesperson at my AD was 1000% sure of himself that Rolex will never do what they did for you. According to him, if you have a damaged black bezel, for example, they will sell you a new black bezel and will keep the old one. Period. They will never sell you a Coke or a Pepsi. They will never sell you a Jubilee bracelet if you come in with an Oyster. I got mine 3rd party and have all 3 bezels and both bracelets. I absolutely love this watch. Currently configured as a Coke on a Jubilee.
I have a 114060 and I want to get the Super Jubilee 63600 for it. Do you think if I asked my AD, they would order one or should I contact RSC in NYC (assuming it’s easy to contact them)
No so they definitely won't put the jubilee on the Sub because Subs don't come on jubilee's. I actually think it COULD be done (I researched it back when I had my 114060) but you'd have to buy the jubilee (make sure it includes the endlinks) from the grey market.
@@DrRolexPhD There is no phone number for the NYC RSC. Next time you are there, can you ask for one of your RUclipsr viewers, can I put an oysterflex bracelet on my Explorer 2? And what is the cost? Thank you
Yeah the only phone number is for headquarters, where they SAY they can answer all your questions, but they can't. It's frustrating. If I remember to, I'll ask. But I already know the answer dude, and unfortunately it's a No. They won't provide a bracelet/strap for a watch unless it's offered on that bracelet/strap.
Have a 126710BLNR jubilee and have been told by three separate ADs that it’s not possible to order an oyster bracelet. Do you think I’d have better luck going straight to RSC? A fee for a bezel is one thing… wonder how much it would cost to pay for new and keep a modern bracelet.
Huh, that's weird. I wonder why they won't do that for you. It's the 126710, so both bracelets fit. Yeah maybe you'll have better luck at RSC. But it depends which RSC. The NYC one is awesome, but from what I hear, other ones won't even sell you an aluminum bezel insert.
Also I know MY jubilee, the older one, will cost around 1200, including the fee to keep mine (I know, insane). I might just bring it in on a cheap leather strap, let them keep it. So yeah idk what the new super jubilee will cost. I'd guess closer to 17 or 1800.
Sorry I just reread that you want the oyster. Tbh I have no idea, but RSC is your best bet. Maybe, like I said, bring it in on a leather strap and tell them you lost the bracelet 🤔
@@DrRolexPhD called RSC in Manhattan, I live on the Island, so could definitely stop in but they told me 126710blnr is not available to buy the oyster separately. :/

You have a black serif fat font insert which is period correct for your watch. The pepsi insert you have here is a service insert and not period correct. Once you have seen the serif vs non serif / service insert it’s difficult not seeing it!
No I know it's not period correct. The fact that I have the black serif fat font keeps me sane, and let's me enjoy this bezel with a clear conscience. Also, unlike the modern coke inserts, I like these modern Pepsi inserts. I think they nail it with the colors. Would I like a fat font serif Pepsi insert? Hell yeah. But I'm not paying $500 on the grey market for it. This Pepsi will do fine for me.
Ok fair enough! I have a few serif fat font inserts and actually the rarest ones are the pepsi serif non faded as most of them fades with time. My favorite combo is pepsi serif non faded and jubilee. And congrats on your 16710 it is in an unpolished amazing condition!
@@kls1912 hey and actually, you're right. When I owned my previous P-serial Pepsi, it had this insert AND ONLY this insert, and it bothered me to hell. I was frantically looking for a fat font serif insert for it.

Great question, I should've included a picture of the invoice. $175 total They gave me an employee discount (idk why) so it should've been $198. That includes the price to keep my original insert.
Awesome news - thanks for the follow up! Now you’re making me want the gmt m2 even more. As far as the red color on the Pepsi bezel - is it as red as the new service dial of the coke? Or is the new deep red only on the coke and not the service bezel of the Pepsi? Also, did you ask for an overhaul or authenticity verification? Much appreciated.
Thanks Steven, and my pleasure! So the red of this Pepsi bezel is beautiful: bright apple red. Different to the Coke red at RSC, which is a darker maroon burgundy red. And he authenticated it before changing the bezel. Overhaul, they offered but I declined.
It's definitely worth asking. But from what I heard, they'll only change it during a service for the same color dial you already have. Plus you have the green one, which is already amazing. I know we all get bored of what we have, but I'm here to remind you: you've got an AWESOME watch man.

Nice bezel swap - your watches looks mint 😎 wear yours in good health 🍷
Thanks man!
great informative video!
1. Mark 1 dial on 16760 with "Oyster Perpetual" under Rolex sans "Date"
2. open 6 and 9 on the date wheel
plus I like something a little off the beaten path, kind of like the YM40 vs sub and the rhodium vs the blue YM
Thanks man
Dang, that sucks. Idk why it's different in different cities. Weird
@@DrRolexPhD My AD in Florida swears up and down that RSC would never sell someone a different color bezel that didn’t come with that specific watch. Something like “even parts in, even parts out”. He also claims that they keep the old part. He was so sure of himself! Any chance you could share your RSC paperwork so that I could show him? I asked about swapping my Pepsi bezel with a Coke bezel I purchased on eBay and he made me feel like a criminal!
@@leefromflorida Jesus Christ!
Sorry that's happening to you man, that's brutal. Your guy at that AD is misinformed.
However, I know that different RSCs operate differently and have different policies, so maybe he's right about one specific RSC.
I'll post a picture of the paperwork to my Community tab in about 9 hours (I'm at work right now), then I'll message you here to let you know it's up. 👍
Is your RSC the only east coast RSC? I am in DC. I would like to put an oysterflex on my black face EII. Thank you
My pleasure!
Yeah there's one here in NYC, and one in Dallas. That's it for the East
Thank you!!
@@DrRolexPhD Understand and thank you.
My Rolex service center put a coke bezel on my all black bezel GMT, and I kept the original bezel.
Nice!
great video
Enough with the big red subscribe prompt, it smacks of desperation.
Ely sent me to pay my respects 👍👍
See you in the funny papers!
Dude! I went to Tourneau and asked if it was possible to buy the Oyster for my BNLR, not expecting much, considering I’ve asked several other ADs and RCS themselves and got denied. Well guess what… ORDERED!!! Super excited. Just gotta ask!
@@kls1912 thanks man!
Hey if you're ever looking to offload any of those inserts at a reasonable price, let your boy know!!
@@kls1912 hey and actually, you're right. When I owned my previous P-serial Pepsi, it had this insert AND ONLY this insert, and it bothered me to hell. I was frantically looking for a fat font serif insert for it.

Nice video! Do you think they will swap bezels on a Submariner?
Thanks man!
Yeah they'll swap it for a new one, but not a green Kermit one, for example. The Sub is pretty uniform in that way.
How much do they charge for the bezel and change? It looks great!
Thanks Stephen!
176 all in, including the fee to keep my original bezel.
@@DrRolexPhD Awesome. That's cheaper than I expected!!
Yeah and WAY cheaper than the $500 on the grey market!
@@DrRolexPhD They charge you a fee to keep the bezel you already paid for?
@@chrisvanwinkle9039 yeah 😩
I am having 116622 Silver Platinum Dial and I manage to change to Blue Sunburst Dial from Rolex Service Center. Key reason I decide with Blue Dial because having slightly more demand as compare with Rhodium or Silver Dial furthermore, both Silver or Blue Dial having same color Red Second Hand therefore I have BOTH Dial for same masterpiece.......Original Silver Platinum Dial (Discontinue Dial) returned back to me by Rolex, my YM Rolex Card not stated the Dial Color........Hope is a right decision for long term investment......Don't get me wrong please, I am a Watch Lover as well.......Many thanks for all your contribution given to us.
My pleasure!
I think that was a good move. Not only is the blue dial more valuable, but in my opinion, it's the most beautiful dial for the YM.
PLUS you have the original in your possession, which is awesome.
Good stuff 👍
Mark, I’m going to join you in club 16710 soon. 😉 how much was the bezel insert?
Nice! I'm happy for you
176 total, including the fee for keeping my original bezel
What did it cost to have the done?
Great question, I should've included a picture of the invoice.
$175 total
They gave me an employee discount (idk why) so it should've been $198.

Got a sub from me, just for acting right with ely.

Should I tell them I want a Tiffany dial for my OP 41?
It's definitely worth asking. But from what I heard, they'll only change it during a service for the same color dial you already have. Plus you have the green one, which is already amazing. I know we all get bored of what we have, but I'm here to remind you: you've got an AWESOME watch man.
