Grasshopper Tutorial (Facet Dome)

- Опубликовано: 18 авг 2024
- In this grasshopper tutorial, I will explain how you can use the Facet Dome tool to produce Voronoi cells on a revolved surface. First, we are going to produce the surface and then pull the Voronoi cells on the surface and then make the frames.

It does not work for me on rhino7. When I explode the curve, (min. 11) before creating the polyline, I get only 3 vertices and 3 segments out of the explode component instead of the 5-6 of the voronoi cell. I suppose it's because the cell it's not planar, but why it did work for you?
Great tutorial , thank you!
🙏
Great video. What if i want to create a surface inside this structure? like a glass in real life in each component of the structure..
Thank you... you can use the output of scale component
hi I found this tutorial very interesting and useful: I would like to know if I can transform each surface in planar surface. With command should I use to get planar faces?
Hi luca glad it was useful, as far as I know there is no such command to simply transform a surface into a planar surface, but you can project border of a surface into a plane in order to get planar surface
@@ParametricHouse Thanks, but I'm new on grasshopper and I find veery difficult to do it... May be you would like to show how to do it with a tutorial? :-)
Great video
👋
Hi, the video is excellent, but I can't join the last 2 lines with loft. that it can, I follow the video to the letter, I already saw it like 5 times.
Hi thanks for the turotial , great video, I have a question if I have cylinder instead of a dome can I use the facet dome or their is another one cause it doesn't cover all the cylander
You're welcome. I don't think so. Facet dome only works on spherical surfaces
Big thnx
In the end, you would probably get a non-planar Voronoi cell, which is not optimal for digital fabrication.
In this case, you can use Kangaroo to make it planar.
Congrats on the video!
Thank you... it is a good idea
Hi locatelli, I'm interested in your idea to make planar surface, how do you do that with kangaroo? Did you ever post any tutorial to do
it?
hi, what if i want my voronoi curved or rounded and not like pentagons? thanks
You can simply fillet the edges
thanksssss a lot
🙏
Y como se hace para darle espesor a la malla final??
You can simply use offset surface for thickening the surface
Pero con la herramienta extrude surfaces solo puedo extruir hacia un sentido, por ejemplo en el eje z o x. Existe otra herramienta en grasshopper?
If you want to do this in grasshopper use offset surface and then loft the two boundaries of the surfaces together
I can´t connect "curves" in last loft module with two other modules
Any help please?
yes, loft doesn't work for me either
"Ruled surface" works :)
Did you simplify the outputs?
Ok, next tip, use "shift" key to join different modules :)
@@tomaszpikos630 that's also possible😊 most beginners don't know how to connect two outputs to one input
genio!
🙏
