What you said about football can be said about chess(or any sport or way of entertainment for that matter) imagine the money that goes into chess would go into infrastructure or to small businesses etc. Of course there is way more money in football, than in chess but football is way more popular so it generates ridiculous amounts of money.
But i agree that the amount football players make are insane no man in the world deserves/needs that much amount of money.

@@rendezvousonmemorylane How? I don't think he (or anyone, for that matter) going to argue with the fact that a significant amount of money needs to be spent on entertainment. His argument was probably that the amount that's being spent on football every year at least triples any amount that could be considered a reasonable investment into any type of entertainment. If we cut every elite footballer's salary in half today, the quality of football will drop by maybe 5% tops, if that - hell, it may even increase as complacent players such as Teixeira, Özil or Oscar would actually have to work hard in order to get the salary that they want instead of just slacking off and racking up those dollars.
P.s. I can't remember exactly what his comment was regarding veganism, but it was incredibly naive and poorly thought-out. Even if this comment on football was dumb (which it wasn't), it still wouldn't be the dumbest thing he's said.

Entertainment is financed by people so is people fault if they decide to watch football instead of donating money, plus in Europe government does not finances sports so that money wouldn't even going to doctors or poor people. 1) He didn't even say that anything could be done about this situation - he just said that the situation itself was "weird"
2) FIFA and other football organisations (such as UEFA, FA, etc) could easily impose high taxes on elite football clubs and redirect the money from these taxes onto charities (or organisations) of choice by these clubs. FIFA doesn't have the balls to do that, though, because any decision of this sort would be 1) very difficult to coordinate with all the different football organisations and 2) undoubtedly prove controversial and hence be risky for the committee's jobs. But to say such a decision is not possible would be a stretch.

Entertainment business is one of the most gainful businesses out there, and figures like MJ or Muhammad Ali or... Are considered a huge influencing power of a country.
Plus, entertainment business and big sport events contribute massively in the economic flow, so the money spent in sports is pretty much being spent in economy.
Then he will say.. Chess is not big... No one Sponsers chess tournament
I am not sure what the situation is in other countries but in the U.S. there is fairly poor management at times as well as overspending funded with tax-payer money.
There are unnecessary expenditures in sporting like ridiculously high pay out to rich team owners (while players make much less) and lavish stadiums as extensions or replacements for already good stadiums (which the team owners have come to expect will be paid for by cities even though the total expenditures are only rivaled by the potential benefits associated with large construction projects, while still coming with the risk of teams leaving if cities stop offering even more benefits on top of this such as entirely new stadiums for no reason).
Aside from that, while there is merit in saying it provides economic activity and is a good way of promoting cash-flow (though again some team-owners will try to draw as much of that to themselves such as by negotiating extremely favorable contracts including cuts of commissions), it has actually been shown to be a detriment to the immediate local area to have a stadium as there will be much higher levels of congestive traffic around game days that keep away regulars for local businesses and generally just resulting in more pollution. The idea is that sports are a great investment but they are draining cities in America and falsely claim to provide long-term benefits to the local economy even as they are extremely wasteful (and fail to be dependable for the cities that don’t cave in).
It would actually be better for cities to invest elsewhere while allowing team-owners to finance the sport aside from the cases where that is actually just not possible.

Tbh American Sports leagues like MLB, NHL and NBA have much higher investments meanwhile Soccer (Football for civilized people) doesn't need much investment that's why it's the most popular sport worldwide. The investment into football is pretty flexible and is done according to the league's revenue. Going by Hikaru's logic it'll be the American Sports leagues which have huge investments that could be used elsewhere!

Second of all did you at least study that gambit, whatch any video, play with it some games or ask any stronger player what's their thoughts about it?
Last but not least in the nakhmanson are many positions that even stockfifh have problem evaluating then and it's very difficult to play some of positions from a "human moves". I mean the nakhmanson IS NOT a gambit FOR ONLY TRICKS it's an UNSTOPOBLE GAMBIT.

@@shini64m14 At 9:54, the idea is to sacrifice the Queen on f8 (take the rook). It's quite long to explain all the possible variations from here, but it usually involves Rxc8, Nd6 or a combo of the two.

Unless you're talking about money spent on stadiums, player salaries etc. In that case you can't consider the amount spent without also considering the amount generated and if the players and federations donate/raise awareness to any good causes, that also generates more money being spent for those causes that would not be spent otherwise.
