But, he'll begin whith it's pillars. The royals!)

He says he's a Duke son, Dukes being of the highest possible ranks in most monarchies, and by the way, a lot of royals were either married to dukes or into dukes family, or just plain dukes themselves! What I mean is... From Viletta's point of view, for all she knows the butchered royal guards could have been his personnal escort when he pretends to being a duke!
I wanna think that the way nagata was injured wasn't a direct bullet wound, but a laceration caused by a piece of debris that was a result of the rounds fired.
One thing I love about the series is that if you look it from a different angle, you can see all the elements of a classic tale. Suzaku is pretty much your just hero that at first, nobody would bet a cent on due to his origins and has to gain everyone's respect with hard work. He is a knight in shining armor that is trained to fight at close range, while his enemy is quickly well liked, is a masked person shrouded in the shadows with lacking physical prowess, more akin to a warlock, with mystical powers (the geass) and at the end of the first season, a mecha that fights at long range. Zero's army is made of ""terrorists"" and rebels, and even bad people like Diethard, and Kallen can be seen as a recurring mid boss, the villain's most trusted and powerful general. Plus advisor is charming yet mysterious, even to Zero himself, and can be seen as an ancient demoness, which fits considering her age and the fact that she gave him the mind control ability. If this was Suzaku's story with a more black and white morality, I can definitely see CC being the true final antagonist
Suzaku is a loyal agent of a genocidal empire. I used to think he was kind of lame. Now that I've seen how genocidal empires behave in real life, Suzaku and his boot-licking ideology can get all the way fucked.
I really like your reinterpretation. The authors of CG have said in an interview that if the story had been told from Suzaku's perspective, Lelouch would have been the absolute evil in his eyes. So you are not far from the truth. Nicely put! :)
I really gave so many people the wrong impression by posting that on the 1st of April. lol. I only did that because I like posting on the 1st of the month when possible. lol.
I like that Ohgi is wearing a yellow david star. While it's not clear whether the nazis were a thing in the geass timeline, the difference in social standing between elevens and britannians is similar to the one between germans and jews in 1930s germany
32:42 you know what you could put here: “Welcome back to the Rebellion - sponsored by PizzaHut” The “sponsored by PizzaHut” could be said quickly like in the medical commercials.
24:04 most probably lelouch did not remove the IFFs from those sutherlands. Its most likely that those machines just got out of the factory and on its way to the military which is why it doesn't have IFF or the IFF is removed. Clearly the britannians knows the risk of enemies intercepting these machines, and if they use it with their IFFs, it could compromise the locations of every britannian unit in the field as lelouch does. IFF does not only emit a unit's location but also detect its allies' location. It would be a great advantage for the resistance if the knightmares still has IFF as not only does all of them has information that lelouch has, they would still be undetectable as they'll be flagged as allies on the brittanians' IFF since they're using brittanian machines. In another perspective, once the brittannians realize that their machines are compromised, they could also use the IFF to identify and investigate their units to hunt the terrorits using them. So at the same time having the IFF removed also worked on the resistance's advantage. It all ends up on how its used. Which why lelouch said that an IFF signal is a double-edged sword.
Something I love about this series is the sheer amount of extra detail they can squeeze out of every scene due to the medium. Unlike many anime, Code Geass isn't based on an existing manga or light novel; those came out AFTER the anime original. So there's a ton of places where they abuse the fact that its an animated medium to make extremely subtle details or shot direction that would be difficult in a static format.
my guess for why they brought suzaku in alive is because they wanted to interrogate any witness about the location of c2 but they did not even go as far to hint that in the show so it's speculation
that could be true! I mean, I guess when I think about it - only one person would really need to grab him and take him in, while the others could've just went to find C.C. and Lelouch. so, maybe they kept him alive to interrogate him - or maybe even use him as a scapegoat in case anything went wrong while trying to get C.C.
NGL I watched Code Geass over 10 times, and never noticed until now that Nagata and Naoto are different people. I always thought the guy from the beginning with Kallen was her brother, and the family photo was Kallen and their mom, not noticing he was the same age as he is now while Kallen was a toddler
The white knight is preventing a direct checkmate, so Lelouch moves the king and goes around the board. Just as it was forshadow in the previous episode.
SAME! Well... I checked yesterday, but still! I was sad that there was no news of this episode, and then my day went on and when I finish everything I have to do BOOM, RUclips recommands this video! Perfect timing!
I commented this on the last video. The guns these nightmare frames are using have two barrels / firing modes. One of them fires anti-personnel bullets, it's what they use later on in episode 13 to snipe the Japan Liberation Front members while they are trying to flee using the tanker filled with *highly explosive* sakuradite.
+++, Nagata was only wounded because even Viletta wouldn`t`ve tried to blast the truck with AP rounds if there`s a *poison gas* inside. Anti-personnel rounds would do the same job of stopping the truck by killing its driver, as the second mode would`ve straight up not only destroy the truck completely, but would`ve killed a few thousand civilians _at least_, with a lot of them being Britannians. Hell, Clovis addressed deaths of 8 (!!!!) Britannians in a terrorist attack. Wonder what could`ve happened if more than a hundred died? Purebloods never knew that it wasn`t a poison gas, so this was an assumption under which they operated.

for the code gease version of "how it works" how about a "get to know them" (where you can pick a character from the searices and say a few details and facts about them. prefrefbly people we've already seen but can also be used for people were about to see)
1:25 this is one thing I liked about Platinum End. When they kill the primary antagonist with a gatling gun, it completely obliterates his body, which is show later in brutally disfigured pieces all over the ground. That's what a high powered canon actually does to a person. But Code Geass probably didn't have the budget or the timeslot to allow for such details. That or it was an oversight.
So, you're probably thinking Villetta taking so long to recover from her Command is an inconsistently. However, Lelouch's command was "Hand over your Knightmare to me." Well, her Knightmare wasn't in Lelouch's possession until he left. Hence the Command wouldn't be fulfilled until he left.
spoiler i mean by that logic the girl who he commands to mark those crosses on the wall to get information about his geass duration would be under the geass 24/7 and just stand there and wait for the next day to mark the wall again because by that definition the geass wasnt complete and should allow her to act like herself until its finished and you might say "oh but we never actually HEAR him give the command so he couldve commanded her 'act normally but once a day mark this wall with a cross' so we cant be certain" allright, different example: guilford "whenever you see me take this pose you will see me as your princess cornelia and follow my orders" by your logic he should just stand next to lelouch starring at him to take on that pose because the command isnt "finished" and in order to see lelouch take on that pose he would have to look at him 24/7
Code geas and deathnote mirror each other in a lot of ways! Lelouch and lights' power can work a bit similarly. The frenemy dynamics. The not so purely good main characters. I usually suggest code geass to people who like deathnote. They are my some of my favorite animes ever too. Thats why this channel is awesome for me! Thanks for the great videos!

22:45, the reason they are removed could also be because the colour switch could be something that they do later, this means the nightmares are possible either for royalty or not, and the IFF could possibly be set to either being royalty or either being not royalty, and they don't put it in because in war Royalty might use the non royals as bait
This is my favorite anime since it was released, I was a kid back then. I rewatched it but needed to rewatch it now I'm a little older. Glad I stumbled into this channel
11:13 also im gonna guess the (slash) harken might be a play on the german word "haken" meaning "Hook" which is pronounced very similiar to "harken" so i think they japanisized the german word "haken" which happens in japan alot, predominantly with english words where an english word with japanese pronounciation replaces an existing japanese word (examples include things like "gurasu" - "glass" "wain"-"wine" etc) and with alot of anime's fascination with the german language for ... "historical" reasons and the setting of codegeass with them dialing up europe to 11 and then moving it to the US i could definitly see that happening
@@overanalyzinganime I appreciate your passion, but I feel this way because nobody really analyzes episode by episode. So I’m excited to just binge watch when the videos are kinda long.
Hey I highly doubt this would be high voted however going with Arthurian Legend. Sir Lancelot was originally a commoner. In the case of the historical sense to become a knight you originally had to have nobility. Or at the very least lower nobility. Lancelot lied about his nobility to be trained as a knight. Comparing to Code Geass, they are sticking to the source. Lancelot when found out had to wait till Arthur was king to receive his title again.
52:09 Did Lelouch take over for the Powerpuff Girls today in saving days? A Squishy Wizard being able to act in place of a trio of superheroes? How does that work?
Ohgi is the leader because he took over from when his best friend, Kallen's brother, died. He inherited his friend's dream. Also, IIRC, during a scene with Kyoto, it's implied that Oghi's is just one of several independent cells.
Yeah, Naoto died and left him in charge. I talk more about it in the next video when they actually reveal who Kallen’s brother is. And yeah, there are multiple factions - like the JLF, for example - and he’s just one leader of many; but when you compare him to the other Generals, like, say, Tohdoh, he just doesn’t exude the same energy. And it totally makes sense - those other people have trained and earned their ranks; whereas Oogi had the responsibility thrust upon him.
You should check out the video "how lelouch led with the king" and see how the chessboard in ep 1 foreshadows the events up to this episode. They also use chessboards to foreshadow large conflicts in this series, or to show the viewer how Lelouch's planning and inner monologue works. it's kinda neat.
i waited only 2 months and youtube didn't even recommend me this video. anyway, great analysis, just like always, code geass is my favorite anime, so i'm happy to see how someone goes so deep about it
32:49 Ominous text saying The rebellion continues . Could have some stylized text (kinda like the kira or L instigina ) but with chess positions based off who are focus character in the next scene is gonna be. Like Lelouch K or Kallen Q. That sort of thing. Could say them out loud when they appear if you want. ( I kinda like this one) Could have a clip of light laughing maniacally and transition leluoch doing the same. Have the clip of lelouch telling the guards to off themselves, instead it cuts to yamcha and sibamen blowing up. Welcome back to the revolution Welcome back Geass gang Or maybe "Welcome back to how chess. "
The time that the clock is stopped at is 2:34, which may be a reference to Luke 2:34 "And Simeon blessed them, and said unto Mary his mother, Behold, this child is set for the fall and rising again of many in Israel; and for a sign which shall be spoken against;". And if you're familiar with how Code Geass goes, and you replace Israel with a certain fictional nation, you might see something.
7:28 other britannian troops simply found a survivor among casualties? Not really crazy to believe considering villeta goes to check out survivors where lelouch geassed the troops. 16:37 i dont see the inconsistency there with the slash harken? 24:00 lelouch didnt necessarily remove the iffs, they just were never attached to begin with because theyre only actively attached once their ready for optimal combat while these were more like products in the stock thus were on the train which lelouch figured out while he had the his kmf from villeta.
I honestly think that IFF`s could be placed only when they`ve already arrived to a certain regiment. As it was shown during other battles, there are a lot of different kinds of KMF indicators on the map. If these Sutherlands were given to the elite, they`d have their own IFF marker signalling that, so they would have to be placed only after arriving to the base to properly show that and not to give any wrong signals to friendly units.
I think the reason Viletta stood there, at least long enough for Lelouch to get away, is that if she comes to before he leaves, she could consciously oppose him, and the Geass kind of "knows" that based on her mental state, so the command more or less ensured that Viletta would give complete "ownership" of the Knightmare to him. Of course, (Lelouch's) Geass does give a bit of brain fog, but I think you can track this type of response in other commands given later throughout the series, notably the one he uses on Suzaku. While you could say it lasts as long as the plot needs it to, that's also just how it works in general, it literally bends to the will of the command instructed.
I fucking love this channel since it never disappoints Hoping this underrated guy to get noticed by millions someday because for this much work he's really deserving it

Literally was thinking about this throughout the whole video. I guess the oppressors never change their tactics…and we just watch history repeat itself. Or let it, rather
so, I never really paid attention to them before - but for the purposes of this video and making clips out of the episodes I made a point to pay attention to when I saw them being used and it's crazy how versatile they are - as well as the ways in which different Nightmares use them. for example, the Gawain has them in each of it's fingers which I thought was really cool!
5:00 to me it looks more like the brains neural network or atleast a visual estimation of it aka the software where the brain is the hardware and the shift is a shift in the neural network making the person literally hard wired to follow the order given
7:28 My head cannon is that Lelouch brought Suzaku to a med camp (or like dropped him off nearby) because it's his friend and he didn't want him to die. It makes sense for his character since Lelouch has rescued Suzaku on multiple occasions
For the interlude, put in pages from the Code Geass wiki that give more detail on stuff relevant to the story thus far. Kinda like how Attack on Titan has historical information in the interludes
I draw paralells between Shinjuku and Ukraine all the time. Myself and Lelouch. At the start of the war I drew inspiration from this. Matter of fact I still do. It takes a great mental load to analize information like he does. Great assessment from the voodoo lord himself 👍🏾👁️
49:00 But Osaka Crisis wasn`t their fault though. It was an unrelated event committed by a different group. I personally think it may`ve been some supporters of Kusakabe or anybody else, really. Ohgi and others operated in Tokyo, and it`s quite far away from Osaka to try and do such terrorist act. The only people they`ve killed are Britannian soldiers as they captured a truck with, as they thought it was, poison gas. By any means, they were justified, because if it really was a poison gas - many more Japanese could`ve died. And yes, that didn`t warrant such responce and yes, local civilians knew absolutely nothing about it.
Pleasant surprise in the feed. About the discussion around 8:00. I always took this to mean Lloyd sent someone out to get him after Jeremiah left since he needed someone to pilot the lancelot. We know hes done simulations and scored remarkably high, so that is why Lloyd would get involved. I wouldnt be surprised if he sent Cecile out to collect him given her skill at piloting.
Maybe this, but they didn`t know his skills before he was put into simulator later by them. Or maybe they had his physical records and decided to heal him? This plot point is quite strange, honestly
For the halfway mark where we'd usually have "How to Read", you could spend some time talking about the OP/ED. The imagery, particularly in Code Geass' ED, is very interesting.

Bro called Lelouch a bad guy for laughing maniacally after his plan to collapse the floor succeeded and in the same video said that the militia holding civillians at gun point against their will and yelling at them to shut up was "unfortunate" and he knows that they're "not the bad guys"
Some of my own opinions regarding this episode 6:03 Something else Lelouch should have alot more is giving people the command of obey him, like, all the time, specially to anyone on the military, but I actually don't think it's a plothole or anything lile that, I seriously believe it's a character flaw, Lelouch always lost to Shineizel when they were young, and he knows he'll have to face him one day, he needs to maintain his A game when it comes to strategies, that's why all his plans are so over the top, he doesn't just want to defeat his opponents, but fucking own them, so he needs to rely on hsi stratergies over everything else, when he commanded Gilfred he told him to assume he was Cornelia, which was mad unnecessary when he could've just ordered him to obey or protect him, prideful, yes, alot, but also in character imo. At this point he also doesn't know his Geass can only be used once so that might be contributing, or maybe it's just a step too far even for him until Rolo dies (ah, my heart) and I'm just overthinking it, most probably that. 7:47 I'm pretty sure somewhere Loid and Cecille mention he got the highest score or compatibility with the Lancelot, 90% or something, I imagine after Orange shot himself in the ass an episode prior, he just thought fuckit and got Suzaku to pilot it, that's why he's here, Loid is an Erl and quite passionate about his inventions, so I do believe he could've arranged it Something I love/hate about Code Geass is it's qute unique pacing and how it's kind of a double edge sword, I'd heard that season 1 was going to be 50 episodes long, but the studio changed it to 25 (which btw, F.U. Sunrise) it does lead to some obvious problems like lack of screentime for certain characters (I still love them to death but moe development never hurts), but it also leads to some fascinating things in the end help the show so much, like that mention of Todo by Clovis, in any other show such an important character wouldn't be mentioned in such an, off-hand manner, to the point that the majority of people will sadly miss it or forget about it, and it wouldn't even be their fault, a point of comparison if the mention of Yuta Okkotsu in JJK S1E6 which feels so much more impactful, but when someone does notice things like these things by themselves and thinks about them for even a second, imo it helps the immersion and investment into the whole world so so much, that's why I love things like this, and the writters were forced to make those quick references due to the low episode count they got, same goes with so many lines the actual battle that goes on in the episode. 32:45 I think putting some intresting facts about the show not present in the show itself could be interesting, like did you the wiki states that Lelouch can actually give multiple commands to someone as long as they maintain eye contact with him, I think this partially explains the unusual die sequence in the previous episode. 45:34 I like that fact that it's so unusual it caught everyone off guard, this is such a fascinating part of Suzaku me, as even though so many people find it frustrating, alongside his other deal about changeing the system from within, in a more, _normal_ show, Suzaku could definately have been the main protogonist with his idealistic nature and he would work perfectly, but this hell zone of a story just punishes him soo hard for his ways it's depressing
I remember when I finished Death Note and the hole that left in my soul so I searched up "Anime where the main character is smart" and Code Geass was the first anime that popped up, ended up liking it more than Death Note lmao

Nicely put! :)
Losing L has really affected you to push off seeing his less interesting buddies M and N

No, the joke in itself was making people think you would not continue the series
I like that Ohgi is wearing a yellow david star. While it's not clear whether the nazis were a thing in the geass timeline, the difference in social standing between elevens and britannians is similar to the one between germans and jews in 1930s germany
I don't think they were a thing. It seems like Europe has been united for over a century.
32:42 you know what you could put here:
“Welcome back to the Rebellion - sponsored by PizzaHut”
The “sponsored by PizzaHut” could be said quickly like in the medical commercials.
@overanalyzinganime
There is another possibility that would be in its own way as likely, but it would be a spoiler.

@@overanalyzinganime You gotta watch Code MENT if you haven't already
NGL I watched Code Geass over 10 times, and never noticed until now that Nagata and Naoto are different people. The white knight is preventing a direct checkmate, so Lelouch moves the king and goes around the board. Just as it was forshadow in the previous episode.
You came back RIGHT when I checked your channel, the day's off to a great start.
that's fate right there! -- I hope you end up enjoying it!
SAME!
34:17 ok I feel like I need to rewatch this because the Arthurian allusions did not fully click for teenage me back then and my brain just connected a whole bunch of dots and a hell of a lot of foreshadowing
i wait for these so patiently i love these series you deserve way more recognition cant wait for you to blow up
Thank-you! I appreciate all the love and support. - Honestly, going from being at 19 subscribers for the first few months of my channels existence (up until Episode 06) to seeing where I am now with damn near 19 *thousand* - It already feels like I’ve blown up. lol. Like it’s insane that so many of y’all enjoy these videos!
for the code gease version of "how it works" how about a "get to know them" (where you can pick a character from the searices and say a few details and facts about them. prefrefbly people we've already seen but can also be used for people were about to see)
1:25 this is one thing I liked about Platinum End.
That's definitely one of the interpretations of all time.
spoiler
i mean by that logic the girl who he commands to mark those crosses on the wall to get information about his geass duration would be under the geass 24/7 and just stand there and wait for the next day to mark the wall again because by that definition the geass wasnt complete and should allow her to act like herself until its finished
and you might say "oh but we never actually HEAR him give the command so he couldve commanded her 'act normally but once a day mark this wall with a cross' so we cant be certain"
allright, different example:
guilford "whenever you see me take this pose you will see me as your princess cornelia and follow my orders"
by your logic he should just stand next to lelouch starring at him to take on that pose because the command isnt "finished" and in order to see lelouch take on that pose he would have to look at him 24/7
Lelouch be firing that Scandinavian Defense at Clovis
Sometimes Lloyd talks like he's a spam email
I would like to point out that Clovis only asked Loid if the Lancelot could win the battle not saying to kill all of the people that Lancelot sees
Nice to see people give Code Geass the breakdown it deserves, fav anime outside Monster and GITS:SAC

34:55 That would be a really good idea pulling up one of our comments giving your opinion on their statement or sharing information that you held off on sharing with prior episodes as a way for you to transition between scenes or prior moments
aoa something should be noticed in 7:08 dead bodys disaperaed also there were only four holes in walls also when army person who called suzaku monkey when lelouch used geass on them not only he smiled killing himself the other do the same thing also
22:45, the reason they are removed could also be because the colour switch could be something that they do later, this means the nightmares are possible either for royalty or not, and the IFF could possibly be set to either being royalty or either being not royalty, and they don't put it in because in war Royalty might use the non royals as bait
Lelouch is an anti-hero
This is my favorite anime since it was released, I was a kid back then. I rewatched it but needed to rewatch it now I'm a little older. Glad I stumbled into this channel

also im gonna guess the (slash) harken might be a play on the german word "haken" meaning "Hook" which is pronounced very similiar to "harken" so i think they japanisized the german word "haken" which happens in japan alot, predominantly with english words where an english word with japanese pronounciation replaces an existing japanese word (examples include things like "gurasu" - "glass" "wain"-"wine" etc) and with alot of anime's fascination with the german language for ... "historical" reasons and the setting of codegeass with them dialing up europe to 11 and then moving it to the US i could definitly see that happening
When he said over analyzing I didn’t think it would be this extreme.

Aw hell yeah. Found the previous Code Geass vid last week and was hoping this would be out soon.

52:09
Did Lelouch take over for the Powerpuff Girls today in saving days?

Ominous text saying The rebellion continues .
Could have some stylized text (kinda like the kira or L instigina ) but with chess positions based off who are focus character in the next scene is gonna be.
Like Lelouch K or Kallen Q. That sort of thing. Could say them out loud when they appear if you want. ( I kinda like this one)
Could have a clip of light laughing maniacally and transition leluoch doing the same.
Have the clip of lelouch telling the guards to off themselves, instead it cuts to yamcha and sibamen blowing up.
Welcome back to the revolution
Welcome back Geass gang
Or maybe
"Welcome back to how chess. "
Lmao. I love these -- especially the Yamaha and Saibamen one.
I watched this whole series based off your first video. Can’t wait to compare thoughts!

I fucking love this channel since it never disappoints
Hoping this underrated guy to get noticed by millions someday because for this much work he's really deserving it

Shoutout to you for convincing me (no joke) to binge all of code geass since the last episode in this series 🎉🎉
7:28 My head cannon is that Lelouch brought Suzaku to a med camp (or like dropped him off nearby) because it's his friend and he didn't want him to die. It makes sense for his character since Lelouch has rescued Suzaku on multiple occasions
Nah he didnt, the Britannias just searched the explosion area and saw his body still alive
Use the geass neurons firing thingy when Lelouch uses his geass. That could be a cool way to break up the episodes.
For the halfway mark where we'd usually have "How to Read", you could spend some time talking about the OP/ED. The imagery, particularly in Code Geass' ED, is very interesting.
Because you don't do spoilers and just hint at future things, I've started watching this show just to watch your videos.

Bro called Lelouch a bad guy for laughing maniacally after his plan to collapse the floor succeeded and in the same video said that the militia holding civillians at gun point against their will and yelling at them to shut up was "unfortunate" and he knows that they're "not the bad guys"
You realize that he's talking about the Black And Grey Morality of the setting, right?
It's funny that this "stinking monkey" actually plays monkey killer - Getō later in JJK
Some of my own opinions regarding this episode
6:03 Something else Lelouch should have alot more is giving people the command of obey him, like, all the time, specially to anyone on the military, but I actually don't think it's a plothole or anything lile that, I seriously believe it's a character flaw, Lelouch always lost to Shineizel when they were young, and he knows he'll have to face him one day, he needs to maintain his A game when it comes to strategies, that's why all his plans are so over the top, he doesn't just want to defeat his opponents, but fucking own them, so he needs to rely on hsi stratergies over everything else, when he commanded Gilfred he told him to assume he was Cornelia, which was mad unnecessary when he could've just ordered him to obey or protect him, prideful, yes, alot, but also in character imo. At this point he also doesn't know his Geass can only be used once so that might be contributing, or maybe it's just a step too far even for him until Rolo dies (ah, my heart) and I'm just overthinking it, most probably that.
7:47 I'm pretty sure somewhere Loid and Cecille mention he got the highest score or compatibility with the Lancelot, 90% or something, I imagine after Orange shot himself in the ass an episode prior, he just thought fuckit and got Suzaku to pilot it, that's why he's here, Loid is an Erl and quite passionate about his inventions, so I do believe he could've arranged it
Something I love/hate about Code Geass is it's qute unique pacing and how it's kind of a double edge sword, I'd heard that season 1 was going to be 50 episodes long, but the studio changed it to 25 (which btw, F.U.

The only issue with that is that they were already taking orders from Clovis - someone who had a better claim to the throne than Lelouch, and yet they never acted like that when he ordered them around, ya know?
@overanalyzinganime When combined with the power of the geass, his claim to the throne is probably exaggerated to them; I feel that the scene is mainly meant to emphasize the power of the geass.
